Just head that Prince Charles has been to visit him in hospital due to ‘exceptional circumstances’. He’s never visited him in hospital before and apparently left looking emotional. It doesn’t look good does it? I wonder how this will play out given the pandemic?

He's 99 it won't be a complete surprise if he dies, surely?

HopeClearwater · 20/02/2021 18:26

I'm not ready for bad news like this.

Confused
Terfy · 20/02/2021 18:26

really

Well, yeah. Personal reasons though.

I think if it was just a case of a very elderly man coming to the end of his life he would be at home, especially given who is he.

Let's hope he is having treatment for something acute and will be back with HM soon.

bakingdemon · 20/02/2021 18:27

@Terfy me neither. Really really hope he recovers enough to go home

Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 20/02/2021 18:28

come on, he has to go at some point, he is almost 100

Bvop · 20/02/2021 18:30

I hope he recovers quickly.

SionnachRua · 20/02/2021 18:30

Whatever is wrong - whether he's just ill or dying - I hope he isn't in pain.

kurtrussellsbeard · 20/02/2021 18:30

@Terfy sorry you're feeling low Thanks

kurtrussellsbeard · 20/02/2021 18:32

I'm personally not bothered either way. He's had a great life, I acknowledge the difficult start, but he's wanted for nothing and has a family who loves him. Nobody could ask for more.

LynetteScavo · 20/02/2021 18:32

I can't imagine Prince Philip agreeing to go into hospital if he thought he wouldn't come out. I imagine he'd insist on spending his last days in his favourite place, so the fact that he's gone into hospital indicates to me he's got a bit left in him yet!

PatchworkElmer · 20/02/2021 18:33

@yeOldeTrout

It would be nice to have a thread wishing PP a speedy recovery.
Agreed.
itsgettingwierd · 20/02/2021 18:33

I'm glad a very elderly gentleman is getting family visit in hospital.

I'm glad care homes will allow visits soon.

I wish more hospitable allowed visitors.

I hope Prince Phillip isnt in pain.

kurtrussellsbeard · 20/02/2021 18:34

@LynetteScavo or that he was too poorly to make that decision.

StanfordPines · 20/02/2021 18:35

@EnglishRain

This makes me sad. I hope he isn't very poorly. I feel sad for the queen too, if it's end of life care and he has to stay in hospital, all eyes will be on her movements, meaning little or no privacy.
It’s very sad for anyone to not be able to be with their husband when he is this ill. If the poor woman goes there there will be no end of speculation.

No I'm sure he won't be, if he was Joe Public I wouldn't be able to be sure.
BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 20/02/2021 18:35

Interesting that Harry has said he is quarantining for travel.

Spidey66 · 20/02/2021 18:36

@HHSchultz

FGS, no one can live forever, even a Prince.
My thoughts exactly, but I tend to be quite pragmatic about things like this.
Eleganz · 20/02/2021 18:36

I presume Charles's visit is because this is serious and could well be an end of life situation. Charles didn't visit him last time he was on hospital afaik and it would also be a breach of the hospital's policies if it weren't.

Of course, the palace putting out bland press releases stating that the hospital stay is 'just a precaution' is really not helping here. You can see people losing their shit on social media as it has made it look like Charles is bending the rules and getting special treatment. I wish the palace could just be honest for once if it is truly serious as it would stop a lot of the crap on Twitter for example. People don't have enough patience to deal with this stuff at the moment.

DareIask · 20/02/2021 18:36

Won't Harry have to self isolate if he does travel here?

I agree. And like it or not, unlike the majority of us, they could afford round the clock care for him at home.
BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 20/02/2021 18:36

I also wonder if Charles arrived at the public entrance as a distraction for QE2 arriving at a more discreet entrance.

SophieB100 · 20/02/2021 18:36

If he was too poorly to make a decision, I doubt he would have walked into hospital as he did.
He has lived to a ripe old age, and has had the best health treatment someone in his position is entitled to.
I hope he isn't in pain, whatever the outcome.
