Just head that Prince Charles has been to visit him in hospital due to ‘exceptional circumstances’. He’s never visited him in hospital before and apparently left looking emotional. It doesn’t look good does it? I wonder how this will play out given the pandemic?

How odd that an almost identical thread has been started right after the other one was deleted! Weird. Confused

Yeah it will be sad when he dies, but he is nearly 100, and has had a good life. Shame if he doesn't make it to 100 though!

As I said on the other thread, I am dreading the vitriol, and the hate, and the 'glad he's gone, he is a drain on MY taxes' kind of comments. (Which often come from people who don't even pay tax!) Wink So I will be hiding threads on here when he has passed on...

This thread is no different to the other one, so is this going to be deleted in a minute? Confused

MrsMackesy · 20/02/2021 18:38

A previous thread on this has already been deleted today.

In the photo on DM website of him leaving his eyes are full. How incredibly sad.

@SophieB100 ah! I didn't realise he walked in.

CeibaTree · 20/02/2021 18:39

I wouldn't wish for any family to lose a loved one, but he is 99! Not many people live that long, PC and his siblings have been so lucky to have both their parents well into old age themselves.

NancyPickford · 20/02/2021 18:40

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz I thought the news footage showed Prince Charles entering by a back door, not the front.

Sparklingbrook · 20/02/2021 18:41

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz

I also wonder if Charles arrived at the public entrance as a distraction for QE2 arriving at a more discreet entrance.
According to posters on the deleted thread he did go in the back entrance. There were a lot of bins.

Must be horrible to arrive to visit your father who isn't well and have cameras up your nose. I am surprised they weren't moved on and assume they are permanently camped out around the front?

I am surprised Kay Burley hasn't turned up.

TokyoSushi · 20/02/2021 18:41

Of course he's 99 and these things are to be expected, but I hope that it's not as serious as it seems and wish him well.

SunbathingDragon · 20/02/2021 18:41

@SophieB100

If he was too poorly to make a decision, I doubt he would have walked into hospital as he did. He has lived to a ripe old age, and has had the best health treatment someone in his position is entitled to. I hope he isn't in pain, whatever the outcome.
I known a lot of people with capability to make their own decisions walk in. Likewise terminally ill people who die soon after. I’ve also known people be wheeled in, either on a chair or stretcher and walk out not long after. Walking or not walking is meaningless.

And?

People are going to discuss this. It’s human nature.

give them some privacy fgs

31RooCambon · 20/02/2021 18:42

when is he 100?

StanfordPines · 20/02/2021 18:42

It’s so wrong that someone cannot visit an ill elderly relative without having to worry about who might be looking and the message that sends out.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 20/02/2021 18:42
**@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz I thought the news footage showed Prince Charles entering by a back door, not the front.
Sorry - I see that now. I assume there is an alternative secret entrance for those who do not wish to be seen.

Mind, I'd imagine PC would have rather not been seen either. Hence why I suspect his visit entrance was a decoy.

As I said above, it's so incredibly sad.

Teana89 · 20/02/2021 18:42

I really feel for the Queen. Such a long life they've had together, with him gone (either soon or in the months to come) she will be without that one true constant in her life.

ItsSnowJokes · 20/02/2021 18:42

@DareIask

Won't Harry have to self isolate if he does travel here?
No currently the USA isn't on a red list, but apart from that they have special circumstances that means he wouldn't have to quarantine if he came back (similar to diplomatic immunity). He will need a negative test either side of the Atlantic though.
Sparklingbrook · 20/02/2021 18:43

So I will be hiding threads on here when he has passed on...

There will be a race to start the first thread I would imagine.

SophieB100 · 20/02/2021 18:43

@kurtrussellsbeard
This is from the Guardian article a few days ago - I found it reassuring:

"Philip, who was said to be in good spirits, went by car to the hospital and it was not an emergency admission. He is said to have walked into the hospital unaided. A source said the illness was not Covid-related and the stay in hospital was purely precautionary."

Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 20/02/2021 18:43

agree totally!

The photograph published in the media shows a picture of PC with eyes brimming with tears.

I didn't take or publish the photo so I cannot offer any privacy.

I'd have preferred the media weren't there to even take the picture. But they have.

SixesAndEights · 20/02/2021 18:43

I agree. Especially a close up of you when you're upset. But then, UK press are almost universally quite scummy.

VinylDetective · 20/02/2021 18:44

The royal family aren’t great hospital visitors so I imagine things are a bit more serious than the palace PR machine would lead us to believe. I hope whatever the outcome it’s painfree. Like pp I’m dreading the vitriol that will be unleashed online if he dies.

31RooCambon · 20/02/2021 18:44

ah, not til the tenth of june
