I hope he's alright. I suppose at his age it's always a worry. I thought that when he retired a few years ago that he may have health worries, so I wonder if stuff has caught up with him.

I think he did the best he could. I think he got things wrong, but he tried. I think that he wouldn't have chosen his life as a royal if he hadn't loved the queen so much. He kept going, doing his best by his charities, until he was 96.

It's going to be a jolt if he goes, as most of the people in the UK are used to him being there. I believe he doesn't want a state funeral, so there was never likely to be the huge dislocation, but at these times, when a symbol of the country is threatened, it makes things a little more uncertain.

And the Queen especially! She looks great for her age. Longest serving monarch and the end of an era.

I'm quite fond of him tbh but yes 99, you can't expect too much can we.

@inthevirtualwaitingroom - I understand your post. I think in any situation such as the current one, it is only natural to think about very elderly people, whatever their position in society, and what the effect might be on them. It is not weird or being overly-invested - it's concern or empathy.
