I hope he's alright. I suppose at his age it's always a worry. I thought that when he retired a few years ago that he may have health worries, so I wonder if stuff has caught up with him.

OP posts:

I had to google 'Methuselah' :'

"Methuselah was a biblical patriarch and a figure in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Having died at the age of 969, he lived the longest of all figures mentioned in the Bible."

Now that is a good innings!

The Documentary about his Mother, Princess Alice was on Channel 5
www.channel5.com/show/princess-alice-the-royals-greatest-secret/

She was an amazing woman and what a life. I wish Philip a speedy recovery.

@LunaHeather

I've met him

People asked me if he said anything racist to me

He didn't

There are a few things I liked about him but the deadly virus comment was always my favourite. I bet history will try to hide it. They shouldn't,
I know exactly what he means.

Luna, can you quote what Prince Philip said re Virus?

By the sound of it , it was non PC!

campion · 17/02/2021 17:04

Not his mother's fault, she suffered with mental illness but I'm not sure what his father's excuse was

His father was definitely not a role model to put it mildly. Probably best PP didn't see too much of him. His mother had quite a difficult life one way and another.

Hope he's going to be Ok

@Biscoffaddict

You don’t admit frail 99 year olds to hospital in a pandemic unless it’s serious.

Operation Forth Bridge anyone?

It’ll be a very different Operation Forth Bridge now we are in lockdown and in a pandemic if it is announced.
MaxNormal · 17/02/2021 17:06

Well if he's not okay, he's had a bloody good innings anyway.

BlueTimes · 17/02/2021 17:06

@oakleaffy he said: “In the event that I am reincarnated, I would like to return as a deadly virus, to contribute something to solving overpopulation.”

OneFamilyToRuleUsAll · 17/02/2021 17:07

Does he usually meet people and start blurting racist comments at them? Is that what he's always like? People are weird for asking if he said anything racist to you just because you met him.

🤣

oakleaffy · 17/02/2021 17:08

@LunaHeather
I googled it!

I can see that MN may delete it...It's there is anyone wants to see it.

Tartyflette · 17/02/2021 17:09

He has quite a lot of form for racist remarks.

pollylocketpickedapocket · 17/02/2021 17:10

@juneybean

Probably will end up as covid if he's been admitted to hospital Hmm
Not for him it won’t!
PersonaNonGarter · 17/02/2021 17:10

Oh let it go so does every 100year old who had all their comments recorded ffs

oakleaffy · 17/02/2021 17:10

@PhilCornwall1

You beat me to it!

Pandemics and plagues and world wars have historically kept overpopulation in check.

Holothane · 17/02/2021 17:11

I hope he makes a 100 and they both go together they’ve been together so long it will be heartbreaking for the other without them.

derxa · 17/02/2021 17:13

He walked in unaided so he's not at death's door yet.

OneFamilyToRuleUsAll · 17/02/2021 17:16

Thanks @Tartyflette. Oh well, the Queen married, loved and kept him. Couldn't have been that bad for her then and can't say she's far off either - just more polite/undercover about it.

poppyzbrite4 · 17/02/2021 17:17

@Whatflavourjellybabyisnice

I hope he gets well soon... always loved his humour Grin
It's called racism now.
Redcrayons · 17/02/2021 17:17

I realised that I am basing everything I know and think about PP from my knowledge of The Crown. I feel like I intimately know him, but of course I have no clue what his life was really like
Grin
I had a bit of a crush on season 1&2 Philip!

Wishing him a speedy recovery.

InkieNecro · 17/02/2021 17:19

@AliceSprings123

VelveteenChair, he's 99! and his name's Philip not Methuselah ! Hope he recovers well, tho and is soon back home.
That made me giggle, then brought on a coughing fit from my non-covid cough Grin

He can probably remember the Great Plague of London.

As Chancellor of Cambridge, yes, he had distinct form for this. It was perhaps the more noticeable because of the university's not particularly diverse student body, so what he said to students from BAME backgrounds compared with the majority of students was very easily compared.

What a horrible, prurient thing to post.Shock

The thread isn’t in great taste, either. OP seems just a tad too excited.

oakleaffy · 17/02/2021 17:28

I'm sure people gave as good as they got with him.

He was referred to as ''The Bubble'' which he found funny.

unmarkedbythat · 17/02/2021 17:29

I would absolutely hate the royal's life. The immense material and social privilege is one thing but to live under this sort of scrutiny would be horrible.
