Do you have wine. In the house?

Inspired by the ‘staples’ thread. We have wine and I can5 remember the last time we didn’t...

Hmmm maybe I need to rethink my choices,

Tend to order a set whenever the mail order wine clubs send out a decent offer (then cancel and move onto the next decent offer) so there's usually a few bottles around - tends to be stored in the shed rather than in the house just from a lack of space though. Need a restock whenever the offers come back around now though.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 13/02/2021 14:22

Strictly one bottle at a time here. Keeps it in check!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 13/02/2021 14:24

Yes. But none of us drink it so if I get a bottle as a gift (often from school) it sits in the house until I can give it away.

trevthecat · 13/02/2021 14:25

Yeah we always have wine in. Usually a few bottles of my favourite, nice bottle of red for if either of us fancy it and then a bottle of red for cooking. But we also have vodka, beers, gin etc and mixers in. Thought everyone did 🤣

YouAreYourBestThing · 13/02/2021 14:28

@CaribouCarafe

Yes - although we are now on our last quarter of a bottle so will top up soon!
You have a quarter of a bottle left? For a 'we'? There's more than one of you...and you couldn't finish a quarter of a bottle? That's just blown my mind 🤯😂
YouAreYourBestThing · 13/02/2021 14:30

Oh...I didn't answer the OP...yes, always 👍

YouAreYourBestThing · 13/02/2021 14:31

@WhipperSnapperSteve

@IsolaPribby

I'm fine with having wine in the house.

NOT having wine, now that is a problem.......

This.

An empty wine rack is anxiety inducing. Grin

AgeLikeWine · 13/02/2021 14:33

Yes.

We always have🍷 several different types of 🍺 , Gin and 🥃 in the house.

MirandaWest · 13/02/2021 14:35

I don’t think there’s any wine in the house. Although I think DH got given two bottles for Christmas from work and we used some of one in cooking so probably the other one is around somewhere.

Trinacham · 13/02/2021 14:38

Used to always have some in the house. Not anymore.

PurBal · 13/02/2021 14:39

Always. I'm pregnant so not drinking but we still have at least 2 dozen bottles in the house. We always have a mix of price points, red, white and sparkling.

Passthecake30 · 13/02/2021 14:42

I always have about 6 bottles in, to fill up the slots in my cupboard. The other slots are full of baileys Grin

PurBal · 13/02/2021 14:43

We also have a selection of spirits. About 4 to 6 bottles each of gin, rum, scotch and bourbon. Then just 1 or 2 each of things we don't drink as much like mezcal. We don't have mixers in our drinks as a rule. We often have beer and cider but not always.

TeeBee · 13/02/2021 14:48

Yep, loads...of really good bottles. And nobody in my house drinks wine.

wonkylegs · 13/02/2021 14:50

Yes but I don't feel the need to drink just because it's here. We buy by the case a few times a year and it sits in the wine rack until we want it.

QueenPaw · 13/02/2021 14:51

Half a mini bottle Grin I don't drink at home but used it for beef stew

RubyWooRed · 13/02/2021 15:40

No , I don’t keep any in the house.
I only buy a bottle if I fancy it.

I think if I had a stash in the house it would be too tempting to have a glass more regularly and then a glass would lead to a bottle v v easily.

I try to keep it for a Saturday night treat.

Abraxan · 13/02/2021 15:52

Always, red, white and fizz. In the summer there is squally rose in too. Plus other alcohol. We have a wine fridge for the white.

We always order wine by the case.

I don't drink to excess but I do enjoy sharing a bottle with dh a couple of nights a week, or with friends/family out of covid times.

I can't image not having a stick in though as we always have done. Student dd even has a small wine fridge in her room with a small stock 'just incase.'

JaneJeffer · 13/02/2021 15:54

Of course

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 13/02/2021 16:30

@JaneJeffer

Nice one as just what the doctor ordered!

Very creative label! Home made or shop brought?

Spacecudet · 13/02/2021 16:45

We always have a good selection. Was a bit dicey last summer though, when we couldn't go to France on holiday. We normally stock up while we are there. DH gets deliveries from Virgin, Naked Wines and a great local wine shop.

KatherineJaneway · 13/02/2021 16:46

Of course

brunetteonthebus · 13/02/2021 16:47

Always GrinWe're not heavy drinkers. We usually share one bottle between us over a Friday and Saturday night. DH might have a beer on top if he's going really wild. It's basically our only treat these days!

longtompot · 13/02/2021 16:52

Yes we have wine in the house. We get a Naked wines delivery, but just about to cancel that. We've had an Aldi delivery and the wine was not bad. The next one I'm going to get some of their more expensive ones, but still cheap in comparison and see what they are like.
