Do you have wine. In the house?

Inspired by the ‘staples’ thread. We have wine and I can5 remember the last time we didn’t...

Hmmm maybe I need to rethink my choices,

I think I might have a dusty bottle of Prosecco somewhere that I was given as a Christmas present but otherwise no, I don’t keep alcohol in the house usually.

Wishihadanalgorithm · 12/02/2021 23:45

I can’t imagine not having it in the house. About 6 bottles of champagne a couple of Rioja and a few other ransoms or rose and white. In fairness we only ever have one bottle a week between us max but like to have it in for guests (though not at the moment clearly).

DietrichandDiMaggio · 12/02/2021 23:51

Yes, probably 3 or 4 bottles of wine and a couple of bottles of prosecco, but haven't drank any since New Years day.

AlexandraPeppernose · 12/02/2021 23:51

Only because we got a meal deal this weekend

Kitkat151 · 12/02/2021 23:52

I have one bottle of white wine...,,it’s been in the cupboard for around 8 months

Jasperjosephjulian · 12/02/2021 23:55

Yes, we have a wine fridge though stocks are a little low.
I used to work in the industry though; I actually don't drink all that often but buying is a bit of a hobby.

YouLando · 12/02/2021 23:57

Always. Especially at the moment.

Costacoffeeplease · 13/02/2021 00:06

Always, plus a full range of spirits and liqueurs

ErrolTheDragon · 13/02/2021 00:07

We've got a bottle of champagne I was given for my birthday in the garage (we drank the one DH bought for me). We might have some bottles of red, not sure.

PickAChew · 13/02/2021 00:09

Just finished a bottle

Have some white, which is last resort wine.

TheChosenTwo · 13/02/2021 00:13

I think there’s about half a bottle on the side that dh is drinking this evening, and another half in the cupboard from last weekend which will be used for cooking now.
Every few months we go to majestic and choose 6 bottles but we don’t drink much in the way of wine.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 13/02/2021 00:14

Loads, of all colours and styles. Rarely drink it though... We buy a case at a time, at the moment there is remnants of a case from an English vineyard, a Pieroth case and a Laithwaites case. But two young kids, pregnancy, breastfeeding... They've not been drunk! Need to remedy that.

SomethingOnce · 13/02/2021 00:15

Might be a small bottle of cooking wine for risotto in the cupboard. White wine tastes like sick to me so I wouldn’t drink it. There’s definitely cheap brandy left over from Father Christmas’s visit and setting light to the pudding.

Thedarknightsarelifting · 13/02/2021 00:24

Always have wine, champagne, Prosecco, gin, rum, whiskey, port and cognac in the house.

Can often go weeks or months without a drink.

RatherLostPenguins · 13/02/2021 00:25

Yes but only because we had some delivered today for our Valentines meal tomorrow (DH is working very early on Monday, we're celebrating a day early so we can have a few drinks together.)

ParkheadParadise · 13/02/2021 00:26

Yes always also beer and champagne.
Also, have bottles of the usual whisky, gin, vodka, brandy.
When we have visitors (can't remember the last time) I always offer them a drink when they arrive.

redandwhite1 · 13/02/2021 00:27

I try not to... if it's there I drink it!!

duffmcstockings · 13/02/2021 00:29

Are you coming over?

Choconuttolata · 13/02/2021 00:34

Rather a lot of home brew red wine, a selection of spirits and two bottles of unopened Prosecco. None of which I can drink at the moment as I have been so unwell since having Covid at Christmas. I didn't even have a drink then 😭

womaninatightspot · 13/02/2021 00:37

no because I drink it sadly lacking in self control...

StrangerHereMyself · 13/02/2021 00:38

One or two glasses worth in a bottle in the fridge and an emergency bottle of champagne left over from god knows when. We buy as and when we drink it, we don’t keep it in stock, but we do have a bottle of sherry on tap for cooking (hugely underrated ingredient). The

Iwantcollarbones · 13/02/2021 00:42

I have two bottles of fizz (champagne), some cooking wine (red and white) but mainly I have spirits as I prefer bourbon and vodka over wine. DH has some rum about (for when I run out of bourbon and vodka as he’s not really a drinker- see why I married him?). Might have a couple of bottles of Prosecco somewhere too.

o8O8O8o · 13/02/2021 00:49

Noooo, cuz I don't get my kicks that way😁🤭
But way back in the day when I used to🤔 yeah☝️😊there would always be wine in the house, usually red

elp30 · 13/02/2021 00:50

I used to work in the wine business so I always had wine in my house.

The good? I was a hit with many because you could guarantee I was bringing a bottle for a host, birthday, Christmas, housewarming, etc gift.

The bad? I stopped working for the company and I now have to pay for my own wine. I went from two cases that were constantly being rotated within a month to a bottle a week.

Pyewhacket · 13/02/2021 00:53

No, don’t like wine. I occasionally have a Whiskey, single malt , if it’s been a bad shift. Steady my nerves and try and get the screams of the relatives out of my head. Something light to eat and then exhaustion over takes me and my bed is the only thing on the planet that has any relevance. But no , we don’t have any wine.
