Do you have wine. In the house?

Inspired by the ‘staples’ thread. We have wine and I can5 remember the last time we didn’t...

Hmmm maybe I need to rethink my choices,

I'm not a massive drinker (perhaps 1-2 bottles a month at most) but I've always got some here. Probably 2 whites and 2 reds.

ZenNudist · 13/02/2021 16:58

Tonnes. Mainly red and fizz, a few white.

Bought up plenty as Brexit stockpiles but I always have wine in.

Also plenty of gin, sherry and whisky

I dont drink much so we will have it for ages now there are no parties.

PralineFowler · 13/02/2021 17:03

I always wanted to be a proper grown up with a wine rack full of high-end wine that I occasionally pulled out for guests or to enjoy a civilised single glass to unwind.

In reality, wine came in to my house by the bottle and it was guzzled that night. Which is why I stopped drinking eventually!

So, no - no wine here.

Pretty much always. We only drink when we're entertaining, so whatever is left over or given to us just stays in the house until needed. It doesn't go off so why not? At the moment we've got a few bottles of champagne, few of Prosecco and some white and one red that was given to us.

I buy a bottle every Friday for the weekend. It's my treat

Ginfordinner · 13/02/2021 17:27

@wonkylegs

Yes but I don't feel the need to drink just because it's here. We buy by the case a few times a year and it sits in the wine rack until we want it.
That's what we do. DH is a wine enthusiast, and if he sees a bottle of something he wants to try he will buy it there and then, not necessarily to drink straight away.

I'm the same with chocolate. We have some in the house, but I only eat it if I fancy some (which is very rarely)

No! But that’s very unusual and in fact we normally have anything up to 36 bottles (or sometimes more). We bulk buy to last up to 3 months. The only reason we don’t have any now is that we gave rather a lot away as Christmas presents and we’ve decided to cut down a bit anyway so we’ll wait until our next monthly shop. I don’t even have a bottle of wine for Valentine’s dinner! We do have one bottle of champagne but we’re saving that for our anniversary this month.

I’ll have some port tonight to tide myself over...Wink

There is beer (100+ bottles) but I’m not in the mood.

MadisonAvenue · 13/02/2021 17:35

I don’t like wine and very rarely drink anyway.
There are a couple of bottles of Prosecco which we were given to me as Christmas presents, they’ll be given away as soon as we see someone to give it to.

FleetwoodRaincoat · 13/02/2021 17:36

We order in bulk, so generally have 2 dozen or so bottles in. We don't actually drink that much, maybe a bottle a fortnight so it lasts ages.

Bourbonbiccy · 13/02/2021 18:00

Yes but I don't drink so it's been there for years.

Suzi888 · 13/02/2021 18:01

StarlightLady · 13/02/2021 18:02

CeibaTree · 13/02/2021 18:27

Nice one as just what the doctor ordered!

Very creative label! Home made or shop brought?[/quote]
That's not me Grin I nicked it off Kathy Lette!

Iseeyoulookingatme · 13/02/2021 19:04

No I drank it all.

MrsBerthaRochester · 13/02/2021 19:23

My ds was 18 a couple months ago. Crap lockdown birthday for him but great for me as I can send him for my wine. I duly did so today cos it was freezing. If I have wine in the house it is drunk so I only buy it on those 3(ahem) days I drink.

underneaththeash · 13/02/2021 19:29

Masses.
I like wine.

peak2021 · 14/02/2021 13:14

I have lived alone for several years, no school age children. Alcohol of any kind is not kept in the house, it's something when I am out or visiting. Had an alcoholic relative and removed it all when he first came to stay, never went back to it.
