Do you have wine. In the house?

Inspired by the ‘staples’ thread. We have wine and I can5 remember the last time we didn’t...

Hmmm maybe I need to rethink my choices,

Yes but it's been hanging around since before Christmas. Since about October, I think, actually. I'm the only adult in the house and I don't drink much.

DeciduousPerennial · 12/02/2021 22:47

Somewhere. Not sure where.

Fiona2020 · 12/02/2021 22:47

Currently have a case of wine as it was on offer! About 6 bottles of gin, whiskey, vodka etc! I did manage dry January mine you!

DenisetheMenace · 12/02/2021 22:47

Lots and lots. Unfortunately, I can’t drink most of it. For 30 plus years my husband has bought wines as an investment, he’s a good nose and it hasn’t let us down yet.

About 29 years ago, I made the most delicious bourguinone (spelling?) for a dinner party with a bottle of red I found when he was out at the rugby. Was worth about 400 quid then, apparently, ten times that now. He’s just - about - forgiven me. It was tasty though, everyone enjoyed it (apart from him) 😁

buckeejit · 12/02/2021 22:49

Always. Can't remember when we last had less than 50 bottles. About 10 bottles of whisky & 12 of gin also. I normally drink like a fish but dry January has carried on a wee bit longer so all the Christmas stuff still about!

LouNatics · 12/02/2021 22:49

Lots of wine in the house. Maybe 30 bottles - red, white, fizz, a couple of magnums. Spirits, beers, lagers too.

I’ve also got 30kg of flour and 15kg of rice and a freezer stuffed to the gills. Low amounts compared to how I was brought up.I feel better to be well stocked. I’d be more worried if I drank and ate it all

passtheorange · 12/02/2021 22:50

@EventuallyDeleted

Yes, but we often go weeks without drinking any of it. Usually a few left over from Christmas or received as gifts plus the odd one that we buy.
Same here.
AlwaysLatte · 12/02/2021 22:52

Absolutely! Always!

YouAreTheWordsIAmTheTune · 12/02/2021 22:52

15 bottles of red, 5 bottles of fizz. Christmas got cancelled after I'd ordered in the wine so we're slowly but surely working our way through them all Wine

BakewellGin1 · 12/02/2021 22:53

Nope but I have three bottles of gin...
Oh and a bottle of Prosecco I was given for Christmas - I don't drink it.... It kills me

Hazelmazel · 12/02/2021 22:55

Yes, lots of wine and champagne. I don't think we've bought any of it, we get given bottles as gifts and we rarely drink so they build up.

pourmeanotherglass · 12/02/2021 22:56

No but i expect DH will buy a couple of bottles with the shop tomorrow.

NeedWineNow · 12/02/2021 22:56

Yes, lots including 6 bottles of champagne that I got for Christmas - hic!

yearinyearout · 12/02/2021 22:56

Tons of it

fluffi · 12/02/2021 22:57

Always. Red, white, rose and fizz. Some for me although I might only have a small bottle once a week or once every 2 weeks. Most of it is for Christmas / Birthdays etc and when in pre-covid days would want to have something nice in case of last minute dinner invitation!

LazydaysofSummer · 12/02/2021 22:57

We've got 40+ bottles, there's about 6 drinking wines £5-£8 bottles from the supermarket familiar labels, maybe 12 "Nice" wines all at least 12 months old as they are usually dinner party drinks, but we've not been able to have people round during lockdown, a few sparkling and whites we don't drink often and probably more than a dozen that always just remain in the wine rack as I tend to just open a wine I know I like.

FunnysInLaJardin · 12/02/2021 22:58

Yes. We have a 90 bottle wine rack and its usually quite full

Mum2jenny · 12/02/2021 22:59

We keep wine and most other alcoholic beverages we drink at home. But could run out of some within a week of heavy drinking.

RagzReturnsRebooted · 12/02/2021 22:59

No. Currently low carb so no wine allowed but only ever bought it one bottle at a time for planned drinking, unless it was Christmas or a party.
We do have vodka, rum and brandy, however. Vodka always and rum left from Christmas. Brandy I like to consider a staple, but it lasts ages and I don't always replace it immediately. Good when I've got a cold!

Hersetta427 · 12/02/2021 22:59

Can't imagine a time when we haven't. DH has said though we only have enough to get through to the end of next week so another order will be made to majestic

thefirstmrsrochester · 12/02/2021 23:00

Plenty of wine here. Laithwaites wine club stuff mainly. Red and white. Champagne left over from Xmas, Cremant because I don’t like prosecco etc, rose for dd. Live in a village where the shop charges £10+ for a bottle of wolves piss so if I stock up at least I know I have something pleasant to drink if I want.

Rainydays14 · 12/02/2021 23:01

Loads here too. We had quite a lot sent as a gift before Christmas which we are working through, but I also buy favourites on offer at Aldi or online (recently naked wines intro box).

We have our wine under the stairs and there is space for around 60 bottles. We have wine every weekend unless we are working, which is one in four weekends approximately. I don’t like it getting too low...

MustBeTheWine · 12/02/2021 23:01

Not usually, we usually only buy wine when we fancy it. We're not very big drinkers anyways.

VanGoghsDog · 12/02/2021 23:02

I always have wine in the house. A white wine box in the fridge plus plenty of other white and red wine bottles, prosecco, cava, Champagne. I live alone and don't drink alone so it lasts ages.

I need white for risotto though and red for Bolognese.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 12/02/2021 23:02

Yes, always, we have a wine fridge that is dual temperature and holds around 50 bottles - it is mostly full. We keep it topped up! Although one less red in there after tonight....
