Hidden phone

Possible reasons for my ex (who I unfortunately still have to live with) to be hiding a phone in my car?

Put it in his car or attach it to his wheel arch.

(Police is the best thing though).

BeautifulStar · 02/02/2021 20:48

If it’s an iPhone I’m pretty sure you can still track it if it’s out of charge or turned off with the “track my phone” app - I think it works through Bluetooth or something.

BeautifulStar · 02/02/2021 20:50

Can’t you come up with an excuse as to why you need to go into town? Any essential shops you could claim to need something from?

wrigglewriggles · 02/02/2021 20:50

Think it's a Samsung.

Justkeeprollingalong · 02/02/2021 20:51

Would removing the SIMS stop the tracking facility?

WhenTwoBecomeThree · 02/02/2021 20:53

Can you put it in Airplane mode? Would that stop the tracking as it would surely cut off all the signal/mobile data etc?

EggysMom · 02/02/2021 20:53

I'd put it in a box and post it to a friend very far away. Said friend can then post it onto another friend, And so on, until the battery dies. Give him something to look at when he goes to the tracking information Grin

CheddarGorgeous · 02/02/2021 20:55

Putting it in a microwave will cut off the signal but then you have to explain why you are taking the microwave on a drive...

wrigglewriggles · 02/02/2021 20:55

Problem is timing and the police station isn't near any shops or anything I could pretend I was going to. Shops aren't open right now anyway just the essentials.
I could leave it at work but would he be able to tell it's not in the car park? Really do want the police to be able to see to though ....

Call the police and explain. Ask if an officer can meet you

Bubbles1st · 02/02/2021 21:08

Can't you turn on airplane mode without the pin?

AngelDelightUK · 02/02/2021 21:08

I’d say something along the lines of, you found it in the car, assumed it was lost property and handed it in to the police station if he questions it

espressoontap · 02/02/2021 21:15

Can you say one of the kids found it and chucked it out the window?

Can you remove the battery?

louise4754 · 02/02/2021 21:18

Maybe it's his spare (mistress) one and he left it by mistake

wrigglewriggles · 02/02/2021 21:20

Definitely not left in the car by mistake. He never uses this car anymore and has his own which I don't have access to.
I saw him open the back door to the car yesterday evening (he didn't notice me see) which made me suspicious. He's put it in the pocket behind the drivers seat.

wrigglewriggles · 02/02/2021 21:22

I'll try airplane mode tomorrow. Didn't really have a chance to look today as had children with me when I found it and didn't want little mouths running in the house shouting "daddy, mummy found your phone!"

@wrigglewriggles

Would foil work? I'm planning on going to the police station after dropping children at daycare but don't want him to know where I am but do want to take the phone. Any bright ideas how to do this? I'd like to see if the police can/will check it out but for my own safety and that of the children really don't want him knowing where I've been. Seeing as I currently only go to the local supermarket, work (5 mins away) and daycare a trip into the town centre would tip him off if he's tracking me.
Can you get the SIM out? Leave that at home but take the phone to the police.
QuentinWinters · 02/02/2021 21:25

Is he at home all day? If he's out just leave it in the street where you usually park, hopefully it will get nicked. He won't be able to say anything about it.

Portla · 02/02/2021 21:26

Take the sim card tray out. I'm not 100% but I'm sure the find my device app for Samsungallows you to turn the phone on and off and allows you to remotely wipe the phone once it reconnects to the Internet.

VanGoghsDog · 02/02/2021 21:26

Or leave the phone at home but take a photo of it to the police, they'll understand why you can't bring it.

wrigglewriggles · 02/02/2021 21:27

I should be able to get the sim out problem is being able to do it when at home without him seeing. Think I'll have to pop into work tomorrow morning to pick something up and play around with it while in the car park.

Lovemusic33 · 02/02/2021 21:31

Yes, removing the sim would work I think. Should be easy, you need a pin or a earring to open the bit up where the sim is.

I think going to the police is a good idea, good luck OP x

DazedandConcerned · 02/02/2021 21:34

@wrigglewriggles a paper clip opens sun card trays.

So sorry you are dealing with this Flowers

wrigglewriggles · 02/02/2021 21:34

Was just about to ask if an earring would work. That's what I use for my phone but not the same make as his.

Thanks.
The more I think about it the more creeped out I get. Am fairly sure this phone was in the living room last week. He got a new phone a few weeks ago and I found this one in an odd place and was a bit suspicious then but didn't think too much of it. How foolish one can be!

DazedandConcerned · 02/02/2021 21:34

SIM cards obviously
