Hidden phone

Possible reasons for my ex (who I unfortunately still have to live with) to be hiding a phone in my car?

What is the battery charge?
If it's low and you can give it a small recharge. Stop him needing to fuck with it if it goes flat.

Missingjigsawpuzzle · 05/02/2021 16:03

@wrigglewriggles

Thanks
Those symbols confirm tracking and listening. The Ninja is from an app called 'Find my kid' and the pin is the GPS tracking.

Find my kid enables parents to:

  • track location including following full routes
  • listen to the sound around the phone (listen to conversations)

As well as other features but they're more specific to tracking use on the phone which wouldn't apply here as you're not personally using the phone being tracked.

wrigglewriggles · 05/02/2021 16:03

I don't have a charger for a Samsung. Also don't want to move the phone in case he goes looking for it.

God this is scary. Look after yourself OP, he sounds mental

wrigglewriggles · 05/02/2021 18:12

He certainly has two sides to his personality. I often wonder if there's something more than just him being an idiot. He was all sweary at me this morning and then all 'how was work?' And 'where's your secret stash of sweets?!' when I got home today. It's tiring.
I don't feel that I'm in any immediate danger. I have friends close by who know what's going on and I can call on if ever necessary.

wibblewombat · 05/02/2021 18:21

I'm being a bit angel of doom in my posts today but just in case you've never come across it before, strangling is a major red flag in domestic violence. Someone has done a load of research into the stages of escalation in dv situation and it's not random.

I would be pretty worried, given the other things going on. Have a search for keyloggers on your computer too and other cameras. They are easy to buy these days.

NelAntartic · 06/02/2021 11:20

OP I can't help agree with @wibblewombat - I have real concerns about this man.

Are your friends fully aware? Do you have anyone that would drop everything and come to your aid if need be?

I know you've said about his attack on you, but I'm stunned the Police haven't supported you more.

Please be careful OP. Have you thought about other devices that may be around the house or on your phone?

wrigglewriggles · 06/02/2021 12:52

He's moved the phone. Will have to do a search of the car at some point but it's not where it was. Will be watching him.

OP posts:
rubbishonthetelly · 06/02/2021 13:24

Samsung phones dont have a specific charger. They use a micro USB charger. In this house the kids kindle, daughter's desk lamp and my bedside clock all use the same charger

Pechanga · 06/02/2021 14:17

Could he be hiding it around the house over the weekend (in your room?) recording you, trying to catch you out on a call to someone?

And then move it back to the car during the week to monitor you going to work / shops etc. ?

You must be so exhausted by all this!

wrigglewriggles · 06/02/2021 14:23

Just been out to clear the crap from the car - anyone else have children who are walking rubbish tips?
Phone not gone just relocated to under one of the car mats. Am going to tell him I'm going to hoover the car in a bit. Wonder if he'll volunteer to do it for me?

About to email the officer I spoke to the other day to see what next steps should be.

OP posts:
combatbarbie · 06/02/2021 14:38

Or he removed it to charge it and has put it back.

wrigglewriggles · 06/02/2021 14:42

He's so on to me or suspects I know.

I just went out and asked the children who was going to hoover the car as it's too cold for me to go out again. They all refuse.
Two seconds later he's out there in the back seat area.
Suppose I have to brave the cold now and actually hoover the car and watch to see if he put it back/check that he's taken it. Bugger!

OP posts:
RandomMess · 06/02/2021 14:45

I would worry that he now hides it or a tracker better using a magnetic thing under the wheel arch.

RandomMess · 06/02/2021 14:50

What happens if you stop contributing to the mortgage? Can your missed payments be deducted from your share of the equity or similar?

Is he actively trying to get the house sold or hamper it?

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 06/02/2021 15:21

You need to be really careful here-don’t do any more mind games. If you’d left it as it was then you knew where the phone was-now you don’t and have to hunt for it all over again.

Same here. I would also be concerned about things like keyloggers or him getting access to your emails and being able to find you on here for example. Can you get in touch with Womens Aid for advice and support to help you make a plan to split properly in the safest way?
wrigglewriggles · 06/02/2021 16:20

Point taken and I do agree somewhat. I won't go check the car while at home can do so tomorrow when I do a food shop. I was curious to see how he'd react. Now it's obvious to me he's been tracking me in the car.
I've emailed the officer I spoke to before so hopefully I'll be able to speak to him on Monday.
I am in no immediate danger. I have no fear of that. For a start he's not currently drinking. I will be keeping on eye on him though and staying out of his way.

OP posts:
iMatter · 06/02/2021 17:05

I think that you should just leave the phone where it is for now. The last thing you want is for him to become volatile again.

Sending you best wishes.

Keep safe.

NelAntartic · 06/02/2021 19:15

Good OP, you have nothing to hide and playing games will only escalate his nonsense and feed his justifications to track you.

Men like this are utterly hideous.

Bide your time, keep your powder dry and get that house sold.

Stay in touch - please. The lengths some men can go to is almost incredible - too many of us have been on the receiving end.

SaltedCaramelIcedLatte · 06/02/2021 19:29

He sounds off key, please be careful and look after your self! Hopefully the police will be more helpful on Monday

wrigglewriggles · 07/02/2021 10:30

Phone is back in the car. Well I think it is. Caught him on our security camera putting something in the back of the car. Have a recording of it. Won't go looking until away from the house.
He's now being nice and helpful around the house. Cleaned the house a bit this morning which never happens as it's my job and came to the park with us yesterday. This is more unsettling than him locking himself away in his room and pretending we don't exist.

RandomMess · 07/02/2021 10:32

Do not let your guard down at all.

Legally what happens if you move out and stop paying your share of the mortgage?

Not sure actually. Something to look into but don't see him letting me leave like that with the children. And I am not leaving them.
