Never heard about turmeric and black pepper for hair!

I take berocca, iron and vit D every day. I notice the difference with/without iron more than the others.

Labobo · 01/02/2021 00:13

Vitamin D and Floradix Iron with added B vitamins. Without these I feel a exhausted (anaemic) and get deep bone aches from low Vit D. So I really notice the difference.

I also have 5htp, St. John’s wort, valerian and passiflora and mix them all up.
I’ve been taking melatonin every night for 20 years
I read somewhere it helps to protect against covid
I’m also blood group O
Again studies have found the Os have a slightly less chance of a covid risk.
I certainly don’t fear it..and that helps too

Nothing winds down the immune system as much as fear and stress

DinosaurDiana · 01/02/2021 06:26

I’m on Evening Primrose Oil (I do notice the difference between a good one and Tesco’s own brand)
Vitamin D
B vitamins
I recently discovered I was very low in ferritin (palpitations, slightly breathless when walking further, breathless going up the stairs - I had put it down to peri menopause) so I take one or two Ferrous Fumarate a day, much gentler on the tummy than Ferrous Sulphate.

BigButtons · 01/02/2021 06:49

@DinosaurDiana I just started started taking that a couple of days ago. I gave blood on monday- have done so many times in the past- and noticed the exact same symptoms as the ones you describe. Not pleasant.

If you’re talking about the Ferrous Fumarate, then yes, not pleasant. I’d put my symptoms down to age, peri and being unfit (even though I walk most days and do an exercise class twice a week). Very frustrating that it was easily fixed but I think that you get to a certain age as a woman, and you don’t like to bother the dr as everything is blamed on meno.
I was able to take three a day without tummy pain, it really is much better than ferrous sulphate.

Could anybody recommend a particular magnesium glycinate? Just had a look on Amazon and am overwhelmed by the amount to choose from! I'm struggling to sleep and wonder if this would help

cheezy · 01/02/2021 07:07

Vitamin D and floradix. When i first starter taking floradix my sex drive went through the roof Grin
Also very expensive vitamin C sachets but not sure if I notice a difference. Also three Brazil nuts as a PP has mentioned (good for immunity supposedly)

everythingbackbutyou · 01/02/2021 07:13

I started supplementing a few months ago with 1200 mcg daily of vitamin B12 and it has really helped to lift me out of the drained , unmotivated sluggishness that I've been feeling over the past couple of years (I am already a lifetime subscriber to paroxetine which has worked wonders for my anxiety and depression, but the lack of energy and motivation was really bothering me). I had my B12 levels measured a couple of years back and they came back as on the lower end of within normal range but I know that 'within range' and 'optimal' are not the same thing. I have really noticed a massive positive change with the B12 and notice if I have skipped it for a couple of days.

Athinginitself · 01/02/2021 07:17

High dose Vitd
Magnesium
B12
B5
Ferrous sulphate

The combo of B5 and magnesium seem to really help restless legs. Dont feel massive difference with other things but am always low in iron and vitd so just take them to try and keep on top of that.

CarryOnPlainHunting · 01/02/2021 07:18

Vit D

VerbenaGirl · 01/02/2021 07:20
**@LynnShelley* @VerbenaGirl* do you mind sharing what brand of Turmeric you take?
Holland & Barrett own brand - but I seem to recall there were two strengths (not totally sure if both were own brand or not), and I went for the stronger one. I'm not sure it matters a great deal with tumeric - but I would say get the strongest you can find.

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 01/02/2021 07:26

Can I ask what you take magnesium for?

HelloDaisy · 01/02/2021 07:29

@namechangefail2020

Gin
Dh has recently started having sultanas soaked in gin every day and all his arthritis pain has gone! He has no pain, more energy and doesn’t need a walking stick any more 😁.
BatleyTownswomensGuild · 01/02/2021 07:34

Recently started using Sweet Bee magnesium cream on my feet at night and am sleeping much better for it.

I take lots of supplements. I know I don't eat well as a I should. I'm on the go a lot and I end up skipping meals because I'm rushing. Take Menopace, Vit D, and Spatone daily

Also very interested to hear what people are saying about Tumeric!

PeggyBundy · 01/02/2021 07:39

Immunace extra and high dose starflower oil

BeaSmithers · 01/02/2021 07:41

Ooh.....which Floradix (there are loads of different ones on amazon). Sounds like I could do with some 😂
Aurea · 01/02/2021 07:54

I take these supplements - the regular ones and the beauty ones.

I definitely feel more energised and my skin feels softer and smoother and my hair is growing in at the temples and feels thicker and glossier generally .

Spatone is great. I just put it in a smoothie and barely taste it.

Sage complex made my menopause symptoms disappear completely.

DfEisashambles · 01/02/2021 08:25

Does anyone take a probiotic supplement? I’ve been meaning to get one but again such an array, if anyone can help with a good brand?

BabyJi · 01/02/2021 08:51

Magnesium and vitD

BigButtons · 01/02/2021 08:57

@DinosaurDiana so far the fumerate has not caused issues. I think I should take iron anyway Earhart than waiting to lose a pint of blood and feeling awful!
The heamoglobin drop test at the centre was ok but I don’t think that shows whether iron stores are healthy. It’s annoy as I had just got back into running and was doing really well. Currently I find going up the stairs an effort. I don’t know how long it takes until I’ll start feeling better.

Pmen · 01/02/2021 09:05

Glutathione, adrenal max and gelatin 😊

Sweetcheeks21 · 01/02/2021 09:06

I take a mixture of multi vits and high dose Vit B. Also started on tumeric and black pepper from H&B before Christmas as was suffering with bad RSI. Seems to have helped.

Borisisafecklesstoad · 01/02/2021 09:08

Highly recommended floradix. Started using it when we lived in Holland and it's amazing stuff....
