On a day off and bored. If I were to make a dream shoppong list, what things would you recommend? What have you bought that makes your life better? What have you thought would make your life better but didn't? I'll start...

I can recommend my kitchen tap with the extendable end, hair oil and phd half size protein bars.

I wouldn't recommend olaplex and babyliss big hair (although I have a head full of mental curls so might be more to do with my hair type!)

Nightlights like these, look particularly good against textured stone tiles or natural walls.

Very relaxing, I sit in the dark of an evening and can walk all round my downstairs without switching on a light.

Heat pumps in main rooms and bedrooms ( rarely used for heating but oh the relief in summer with instant and affordable air con)
Log burner with wetback ( heats water when burning wood) very low electricity bills in winter
Raised vegetable garden 4 foot high repels nasties like slugs and snails, easy to look after and is big at twenty metres long
Fly screens on every window and door, no nasty chemicals, very few bugs
Outside dog shower
Large garage with workshop attached, keeps cars, extra fridge freezer tools and gardening items safe and stored.
Apple TV box with the infuse app for the tv we have stored
Seagate 12tb NAS box with all the media we can pipe round the house
Leather sofas, fabric would be totally impractical with two dogs and disabled DH who’s condition means he spills things
Online delivery people
Very decent non nosey but helpful neighbours who care from a polite distance., including delivering their surplus vegetables, fruit and baking ( we are forever grateful for their storage issues :) ) and who take our surplus without sneering that it never looks as delicious as theirs!

Neom candles
Netflix subscription
Tesco subscription

For those with a Eufy, how does he cope when he goes on the kitchen floor if there are spots of water? My hall carpet goes to tiles in the kitchen, but kitchen floor gets small splashes from kids handwashing.

Lemonlemon88 · 15/01/2021 10:22

Hello fresh! I hate meal planning and looking at the specials, it has made my weeknight life so much less stressful.

womanaf · 15/01/2021 12:36

yuletide He just spreads splashes around a bit and keeps going. Only problem I’ve had was when he ran through a lot of water and we ended up with mould in the box where the dirt gets sucked into but it’s all washable so besides being gross it wasn’t a problem 🤢

Vigorothello · 15/01/2021 15:20

Toria658 which heat pumps do you mean?

CupoTeap · 16/01/2021 10:52

Nothing to add that's not already been mentioned and a little disappointed I'm not inspired to get anything Grin

BikeRunSki · 16/01/2021 21:31

Wool duvet from Baavet
Stonewashed cotton sheets from Made

Still working on the pillow situation....

SadderThanEeyore · 17/01/2021 00:28

@AwkwardAsAllGetout @Smiledwiththerisingsun
I love my mattress topper - gel one from dunelm. I researched a lot before buying and it's awesome. Not as hot as memory foam

I love my milk frother, my teddy cord bedding super cheap in Tesco sales and SO cosy! We haven't put the winter duvet on and don't have any heating on in our room.
Oodie 🥰 Keeps heating bill down!

SadderThanEeyore · 17/01/2021 00:30

@BikeRunSki waffle pillows from signature homewares website. Excellent customer service too.

BikeRunSki · 17/01/2021 08:50

Ooh, thanks @SadderThanEeyore, they look really good, and cheap enough to “experiment”.

Vigorothello · 17/01/2021 12:16

My goose down topper went on last night for the first time. I can report it was lovely.

sueelleker · 17/01/2021 13:01

@spiderlight

A cocker spaniel. Honestly, they should be available on the NHS - mine makes us all smile a hundred times a day and he's better than any therapist. Plus he's a weighted blanket, white noise machine and hot water bottle in one when he's melted into me on the sofa in the evenings snoring his little head off.

sueelleker · 17/01/2021 13:07

@caramelchaos

rubyflint I am a hair oil obsessive! I've tried lots of different types and found no massive differences...at the moment i'm using superdrug's argan oil one (only cost about 4 quid). My hair is so much more manageable and ridiculously soft. I also think it helps me get an extra day out of it so only wash every second day.

Also wondering about the cat food subscription, sounds like that would make life easier! I get smol dishwasher tabs and washing capsules and love that I never forget to buy these anymore!

I get 15kg bags of dry dog food monthly on an Amazon Save and Subscribe order; I don't have a car, have 2 dogs, and I'm not lugging it home on a bus!
sueelleker · 17/01/2021 13:09

@toria658 You sound very eco-friendly!

Anon778833 · 17/01/2021 13:12

-An electric blanket

-A YouTube premium sub - whatever your hobby, YouTube will have some really worthwhile videos. But it’s unbearable if you have to endure advert interruptions.

  • Salt body scrub from Lush - the best body exfoliator ever.
  • Blitz kitchen roll.
choosername1234 · 17/01/2021 13:30

Simple Human kitchen roll holder with a sprung arm so it is possible to tear 1 piece of kitchen roll off using 1 hand. Total luxury but a game changer when cooking

BiBabbles · 17/01/2021 15:14

So many interesting things! I've had a recent buy that fits that were impulse buys off etsy:

toothpaste tablets - so much less mess for the kids to use these compared to them grabbing the tube of toothpaste. You just chew a bit, they break up easily and then brush. The ones I got have a nice but not the overpowering for ages minty flavour, but there are loads on there depending on what flavourings people like.

bamboo floss - was not expecting this to that much different, but the place I bought the toothpaste tablets in had these in a bundle and for reasons, it's just a lot nicer to use.

I'd love to hear about vibration plate recommendations for chronic illness/home use for circulation and such. My MIL had one that she felt really helped her, but I never got the brand and it's something I've been considering.

Passiveobserver · 17/01/2021 15:21

The board game Ludo
A juicer
Sherpa Throw/Teddy Bear Blanket
Decent wok

Would love a Cocker Spaniel Smile

Disillusioned4now · 17/01/2021 15:30

@BiBabbles I got this one last week and so far so good. I feel slightly more toned and my knee pain is improved www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B073G8LL59/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?psc=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&ie=UTF8

What benefits did your MIL get with hers?

BiBabbles · 17/01/2021 16:02

Thank you Disillusioned4now

My MIL used to talk about how it helped with her foot swelling and pain in lower legs and feet. Hers was a just a little circle thing though and not the kind designed to exercise on, but she has MS, arthritis, and a few other issues that made mobility really hard so everything for her need to be able to be used seated.

My issues are mostly arthritis, circulation, and muscle weakness & pain in my legs & have been progressing towards reconditioning exercises which some recommend vibration plates.
