On a day off and bored. If I were to make a dream shoppong list, what things would you recommend? What have you bought that makes your life better? What have you thought would make your life better but didn't? I'll start...

I can recommend my kitchen tap with the extendable end, hair oil and phd half size protein bars.

I wouldn't recommend olaplex and babyliss big hair (although I have a head full of mental curls so might be more to do with my hair type!)

I'm so jealous about the olaplex, I desperately wanted to like it but didnt really see the benefit. I tried 0, 3, 6 and 7. I loved 7 but was a bit ambivalent about the others. I do have hair that looks and feels a bit like copper wire so I might be beyond redemptionGrin

@EvelynSalt

Great thread!

My Halo handheld vac has been a game changer after shuffling about with an ancient Dyson for years. Slightly obsessed with it and can frequently be found hoovering corners between work calls.

Also, for anyone eating keto or watching carbs, or just loves cheese, Cheesies have been a revelation. Like crisps but just made of baked cheese. Addictive though!

Ooh looking for a new vac. Is this one that is a small handheld or can it replace a full size ?

So many but lots of mine mentioned already.

Nobody has said a Devon Duvets mattress Topper. It's amazing.
My Dyson handheld is my best friend along with my quooker.
Turtle Doves fingerless gloves for keeping hands warm while WFH.
I use our nutribullet (which I was against buying initially) for loads of stuff like fine breadcrumbs, pancake mix and pesto. I even made icing sugar one day when I ran out.
Who gives a crap, Smol, and Amazon catfood and coffee pod subscription.
Dedicated kids drawer for IKEA plastic cups, plates and bowls so they can grab their own easily.
Walk in larder
Cashmere pajamas
Dedicated laundry room with hanging rail above the radiator for shirts and wool items.
My Aga. Such a heart of the home.
I have a cocker and fluffy cat too.

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 13/01/2021 23:07

Oh and got a raclette grill for Christmas. We've had one dinner with it and it was AMAZING! Even my young kids had great fun doing corn on the cobs, sausages, bread and meats and cheese on it.

Orthopedic pillow.

Soft Lyocell bed linen.

OhioOhioOhio · 13/01/2021 23:15

I love threads like this. Face masks, audible, an extra freezer, meal planning and my contiho travel mug.

DeliaOwens · 13/01/2021 23:28

My Sea Salt Parka-style, dipped fishtail hem coat for Lockdown walks is a game changer.

Boots Bakuchiol serum -my skin is positively radiant (and it costs very little)
Primark white Bath Sheets -excellent value (£10 approx) wash well and just as good as more expensive brands

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 13/01/2021 23:52

Although the ones in gyms are great , there is very limited evidence for the vibration plates you can use at home

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 14/01/2021 00:29

Norland nanny or good domestic help plus wines en primeur with a well stocked wine cellar.

windandrain · 14/01/2021 00:49

Knickers from Stripe and Stare - oh my goodness do they live up to their claim of being the most comfortable knickers ever. Wish I'd found them before!

Wireless earphones - I listen to lots of podcasts and audiobooks now I have these.

Kindle Fire

Electric blanket for winter evenings

Lakeland dry:soon

DianaT1969 · 14/01/2021 06:21

Regarding evidence for vibration plates at home, I can vouch that they work well to tone - and you only need to use it 10 minutes a day, or so - BUT only if you perform a series of movements on them. Press ups, planks, squats, calf raises, standing ab crunch, tricep dips. Just standing or sitting on them will achieve little, if anything - toning wise, but might improve circulation and relax tension.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 14/01/2021 06:56

DP got me a de'Longhi bean to cup coffee machine for Christmas. I'm pregnant just now and can't stand coffee, but I'm hopeful it will be excellent.

I got my 12 year old ds a cheap oodie from amazon for Christmas, he just about lives in it at the moment. I'm glad though because he has stopped wrapping himself in the blanket he's had since he was born 🙄.

Coco chanel moisture mist. Sk much cheaper than the actual perfume and I much prefer the smell for every day use. It's a bit fresher. Keep the perfume for going out now (so haven't touched ut in a year 😂)

A big shelf above my bed that I got in ikea, discounted to a fiver because it was discontinued. I have a couple of plants, lots of pictures and some other bits on it. It justakes me happy and give the wall a bit of decoration.

A full length floor standing mirror.

A steam mop.

A gtech air ram. Tried a shark first after it was recommended highly on here, but I hated it so sent it back.

I really big car. I do need it for the job I do, but I absolutely love how much I cam fit in it.

Aveda tinted moisturiser. I've tried so many and they have all been shit but I really like this one. Not that I've used that for a long time either.

Self adhesive hooks. I have 4 by the mirror to hang my haordryer etc on. Dont need to worry about burning anything or wires getting tangled.

Under cupboard lighting for in the kitchen. I can actually see what doing now.

And spacers for in between the top of the curtains. I can not stand uneven curtains. I made them myself using pipe insulation. Cheap as chips.

House plants. Love them.

Shoe wracks and extra hooks for jackets. In the hall and the kitchen.

One pricey thing I regret buying was my new couch. Impulse buy at the beginning of lockdown. Its a French connection zinc sofa in teal. It's uncomfortable, even although I paid extra for the good foam. The fabric is itchy. It's pretty small and we are quite tall so you can't lounge around on it because the seats are pretty short.
Was an expensive mistake!

BikeRunSki · 14/01/2021 07:07

Faith in Nature Rosemary soap - smells amazing, nice to skin, kind to everything else.

Celtic & Co sheepskin house boots - been keeping my feet warm for 9 years.

A really cheap webcam - makes video conferencing easier

A very expensive Goretex jacket, keeps me brilliantly dry.

Body Shop Hemp face protector and Burts Bees lip salve - stops my face from chapping. I work outside.

ByeByeMissAmericanPie · 14/01/2021 07:31

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie - I’m with you on your whole list! Are we twins? 🤣

I’d also like to add in:

Silk filled duvet. A treat to myself after 20 something shitty years of marriage. A sleep changer for any menopausal woman.

Someone was asking for cashmere ponchos?

Try a company called www.pinkavocet.comPinkAvocet
They have a sale on atm. Loads of poncho colours

Tsubasa1 · 14/01/2021 08:10

I would really like one of those cordless "stick" vacumes. I recon it would cut down hoovering times significantly and be easier on my back.

Vigorothello · 14/01/2021 09:16

Tsubasa1 nah. Get a robot.

nevernotstruggling · 14/01/2021 09:19

Pod coffee machine. I think ours is dolce gusto. I can't tell as it lives at the caravan. It's amazing. You can buy the Costa and Starbucks pods cheap in Iceland. I assume compost pods will arrive in due course as they are available for the other kind of pod.

I arrive at the van at all hours and wake to a perfect latte. It's also about 3 pieces and no faff to clean out.

At home I have a really £££ bean to cup and it is shit in comparison. Makes the coffee luke warm and needs constant coaxing. Really I should sell it and buy another pod machine.

The £ to satisfaction ratios for the 2 machines are a stark contrast!!

nevernotstruggling · 14/01/2021 09:23

Amazon prime - I use the hell out of it!!

1940s · 14/01/2021 09:49

A really lovely serum and face cream. All in all mine cost approx £40 and lasts me 6-8 weeks and I love the night time ritual.

A good mattress. I relish it every night.

A box set that is 'yours' to watch guilt free in the bath or if you're having an early night.

Lovely soap for the shower.

Nice tea
