On a day off and bored. If I were to make a dream shoppong list, what things would you recommend? What have you bought that makes your life better? What have you thought would make your life better but didn't? I'll start...

I can recommend my kitchen tap with the extendable end, hair oil and phd half size protein bars.

I wouldn't recommend olaplex and babyliss big hair (although I have a head full of mental curls so might be more to do with my hair type!)

Monthly flower subscription
Weighted blanket
Expensive but literally the best thing I’ve ever owned, RAB down jacket. I’m the coldest person on earth, it’s a total revelation that I can be outside between September and June without getting hypothermia!
A monthly massage from a good sports massage therapist.

Scented candles and wax melts. I love DW Home candles from Homesense (when they’re open Sad ) and wax melts from KoKoRose, Wax and Unwind or sellers on Etsy Smile

Weekly or bi-weekly service wash for all your laundry.

My Quest 2 virtual reality headset. So glad I bought it. I've been able to socialise with people from all over the world and make some friends. Have have quite bad anxiety but I find it not so terrifying to speak to people when I'm an avatar.

Plus I'm getting some more exercise with games like Beat Saber.

BaggoMcoys · 12/01/2021 19:50

@Disillusioned4now

The Calm App. Lovely stories to set you off to sleep read by calming narrators as well as meditation and breathing exercises.

Vibration plate - I have a chronic illness which means I have no energy and I have pain from lack of movement. Only used it once for 10 mins as it arrived yesterday but my knees feel so much better already!

@Disillusioned4now I have never heard of these. I have a chronic illness too and similar issues. Going to check this out, thank you!

Robot vacuum cleaner - I HATE hoovering, so this is great.

Really small things like my Ecover toilet cleaner. I love the way it makes the bathroom smell. My Method mint bathroom cleaner makes the place smell lovely.

LED lights in the kitchen under the units so I only have to light the section I'm using rather than put the big light on.

Alexa powered lights.

I have a new mattress which is really nice.

I subscribe to an exercise website that gives me access to lots of videos that I use every day. I love doing them and they make me feel a lot better.

I'm currently doing a drawing class where we draw dragons. I've just brought some new watercolour paints and pens etc as I've never used watercolour before.

Mindful meditation which I do every day.

Podcasts that I listen to every day.

Blue tooth speakers that I can carry around the house.

Twitter. Last year I found loads of interesting online activities that I did, that I only found on Twitter. Talks, classes etc

Candles. I have candles lit from late afternoon onwards in the Winter.

Tier10 · 12/01/2021 19:53

Cordless vacuum cleaner
Toiletries such as hand cream and lip salve upstairs and downstairs.
GHD’s

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 12/01/2021 20:28

Candles- bath and body works preferably. My bi monthly gin subscription from craft gin club, it’s like a gift to myself and only works out £20 a month this way.
Furry blankets for sofa.
Daffodils as long as I can, love them

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 12/01/2021 20:29

Oh and Alexa with lots of smart plugs. So nice to turn everything on and off easily.

FlippinFedUp21 · 12/01/2021 20:32

I'd recommend the Discovery+ app, it's got all sorts of trash TV on like 90 Day Fiance.

BorrowBox app (via local library). Loads of free audiobooks.

Very, very oversized hoody or jumper and matching joggers.

And my latest acquistion: A Nintendo switch lite.

TheCatsWhisker · 12/01/2021 21:23

A silk hair bonnet from Etsy for £18.99

I have massively thick hair which normally tangles, I've started wearing the bonnet at night and wake up with shiny non matted hair the same as I want to bed with.

Luckily DH thinks it's cute, like 20's film star so not like the Edna Sharples look I thought it would be!

Toddlerteaplease · 12/01/2021 21:28

My nesspresso sage coffee machine
My cats.

Titsywoo · 12/01/2021 21:31

Where do you go to socialise? We have a HTC Vive but it only gets used for games at the moment.
BaggoMcoys · 12/01/2021 21:42

It's with my ex but the robot hoover was very handy! I wasn't keen on getting one as I don't really mind hoovering, but he bought it (when we were together) and it really won me round. I may get one.

Things I have that make my life better -

My laptop - was bought as a gift when I was still a sahm with controlling and financially abusive ex. Might sound ott but I think it's the best gift I've ever received. It absolutely changed my life. I had no idea how much of an impact it would have. I was able to find freelance work I could do online and finally get my own source of income. Is useful right now for job hunting. I can do a lot more with than I can with my phone.

Phone - for whatsapp which is enabling me to stay in touch with good friend who I miss loads who lives abroad. And for keeping in touch with others who don't live so far away but who I've been unable to see due to the restrictions.

Notebook and pen - I've got really into writing to do lists, and doing exercises to help with anxiety and motivation. It's helped me become much more organised and productive. I could have written these things in my laptop or phone, but pen and paper seems to make things stick better.

Scribd.com - I have a 30 day free trial. I won't be able to afford to pay monthly when the trial ends, but I'm getting the most use of it that I can while it's available. It's where I'm getting most of the ideas for things that I'm writing in my notebook.

General facial care products - face wash, moisturiser. Nothing special or expensive, but having not properly looked after myself for years, I'm enjoying spending a little time most days kind of pampering myself. Well, washing my face well and putting some cream on. It feels nice to do things for myself, and I think my skin looks better for it.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 12/01/2021 21:56

Nice brushed cotton bedding. Lovely getting into bed without having cold covers until you warm up.

Tumble drier. Wouldn't be without one now.

thebestnamehere · 12/01/2021 21:58

@QuestionableMouse

Cat food delivery. It's about the same price for better food and I don't have to worry about running out.
Which one do you get?

Asking for a cat :-)
