On a day off and bored. If I were to make a dream shoppong list, what things would you recommend? What have you bought that makes your life better? What have you thought would make your life better but didn't? I'll start...

I can recommend my kitchen tap with the extendable end, hair oil and phd half size protein bars.

I wouldn't recommend olaplex and babyliss big hair (although I have a head full of mental curls so might be more to do with my hair type!)

Buying myself flowers regularly
Sheepskin slippers & boots
High tread count sheets, silk pillowcases and good quality duvet/pillows
Neom candles
Going to get massages more regularly
Cashmere hoodie from M&S
Electric can opener
Dishwasher
The dog!
Le cruset griddle pan for cooking steaks
Good knives (& getting them sharpened)
Milk frother pot

Things that didn't:
Bread maker
Cashmere socks (go to holes!)
Kenwood Chef

A cocker spaniel. Honestly, they should be available on the NHS - mine makes us all smile a hundred times a day and he's better than any therapist. Plus he's a weighted blanket, white noise machine and hot water bottle in one when he's melted into me on the sofa in the evenings snoring his little head off.

@spiderlight - that is such a gorgeous description I almost wish you hadn't written it. I want one now. (Although the cat does most of those jobs very well.)

minipie · 14/01/2021 10:31

Netflix
Good coffee
Nice slippers - I have Toms
Perfume
Cosy blanket for the sofa
Cashmere hat, gloves, jumpers
Cat!

agree with you OP about the Babyliss big hair... and I have fine flat hair so the opposite of you!

I have a cocker spaniel. He was a bastard as a puppy but grew up into a very cuddly and loyal dog. You missed excellent burglar alarm off the list of features!

My sister just got AirPods for her bday she is in love with them !! She looks forward to cleaning her house everyday now !!

For me is a fire stick , kindle

spiderlight · 14/01/2021 10:47

This is true - ours keeps us very well informed about all the comings and goings in the entire street. He has an extraordinarily deep bark so he'd be a pretty good intruder deterrent (until they actually see him...)

Recommend me stuff that makes your life better!

@spiderlight

The cutest on here !!

Mixitupalot · 14/01/2021 10:57

@LegallyBlondeee would you mind linking your coffee machine or even a picture. I really need a new one and I’ve been looking everywhere for something like you described. Thanks

spiderlight · 14/01/2021 11:04

Slightly less derpy pic!

Recommend me stuff that makes your life better!
Mixitupalot · 14/01/2021 11:06

@LegallyBlondeee thanks a million!! Looks just what I need 😄

He is very lovely indeed. My cocker looks like a dogs trust advert in some photos! Just £2 a month could save neverdog from neglect....
MynahBird · 14/01/2021 11:09

Love my Apple Watch

HighHeelBoots · 14/01/2021 11:09

Eufy robot hoover. I got mine on black Friday and can honestly say its the best thing I've ever bought
Kitten
Instant pot and ive just got the vortex so high hopes for that

What has been a waste of money
Steam mop
Coffee maker but thats mainly because I've given up coffee
All hair appliances
Olaplex did nothing for my hair despite following the instructions carefully

AriesTheRam · 14/01/2021 11:21

Dermalogica multivitamin face mask.
Elbow grease spray.Miracle worker for kitchen cleaning.
Armani luminous touch foundation.

mommybear1 · 14/01/2021 11:21

@Smiledwiththerisingsun hi I have to say I've not found the Eufy great with lots of dried mud - it will pickup bits but if you come back from a muddy walk and leave your boots where you need to vac he will struggle to pick all the mud up.

DrBuckulees · 14/01/2021 11:24

We've got quite a lot of dried mud in the kitchen from dog paws and Eufy (Euphemia) does get most of it eventually, but it takes her a few passes. I think she's tired. She does more housework than anyone else in the family by quite some way.

nevernotstruggling · 14/01/2021 11:37

Cartier pantere perfume. Costs atm and a leg but honestly the most luxurious thing I've ever owned

Smiledwiththerisingsun · 14/01/2021 11:39

Thanks @mommybear1 👍

SnugglySnerd · 14/01/2021 11:49

I would recommend Neverstick frying pans (you can buy them in Sainsbury's) as so far they actually never have stuck in just over a year. I plan to buy one of their baking sheets next.

Posh Joseph Joseph speed peeler and garlic press are far easier to use than cheaper ones.

Method washing up liquid in "soothing rainstorm" which actually does smell lovely.

Heat holder socks which were recommended to me by another mumsnetter and are indeed brilliant! Likewise Uniqlo thermal base layers.

SerendipityCity · 14/01/2021 14:12

Big comfy sofa with lots of leg room
Candles / diffusers in most rooms
Fairy lights
Bluetooth speakers
Silk bedspread
Marks & Spencer underwear
Colourful faux fur throws.

Have regretted having...
Bread maker – rarely used
Dyson hoover – too big and clunky
George Foreman grill – too small, too fiddly to clean
En-suite bathroom – prefer silence and privacy

minipie · 14/01/2021 14:14

Oh I forgot! Good knives. I’ve invested in a bunch of Wusthof knives and it’s amazing how much nicer and more efficient cooking now is.

minipie · 14/01/2021 14:15

Not worth it: fancy freestanding bath. Been used about 3 times since we put it in over a year ago 🙄

AwkwardAsAllGetout · 14/01/2021 14:36

@WishingHopingThinkingPraying could you tell me about the mattress topper? I’m looking for one for our mattress which was eye wateringly expensive when we bought it a few years ago. It’s still comfy but pregnancy has left me with a back and hips that are properly knackered and I’m fed up of getting up aching every morning. I also think I’m in early menopause, to add insult to injury, so I’m getting ever so hot. The Devon duvet ones look nice, but do they smell a bit sheepy?? Our mattress is natural and had a funny smell for a while after we bought it. I sound attractive don’t I? Hunched, sweaty and smell like a farmyard Blush

boymum9 · 14/01/2021 15:15

Someone else said this but my ninja foodi, the big one, it's just amazing, I love it. I have a big range cooker but since being divorced and living alone I barely use my cooker now, it does so much I adore it!

I have an iPad Pro and pen that as a designer I use loads and it's such a luxury.

I would love an robot hoover! Or any just amazing cordless hoover.
