Anyone fancy a new jigsaw thread?

Hello all.

I really enjoyed the last jigsaw thread which was going on during the summer and wondered if anyone fancied sharing any pictures of jigsaws that are currently being done?
I'm nearly finished with my Disney Christmas one. A nice easy one which has only taken me a couple of days.
The weather is grim today so I expect it will be finished very soon! I will post a full picture once it is complete.
Would love to see your jigsaws....

I got the advent calendar from a danish site but its called Christmas is coming by Gibsons G9503. You get one every 2nd day and there are 80 pieces in each.

Nomnomarrgh · 29/12/2020 00:13

@Florian2012, you could try it, but it takes a lot of patience. When I started doing 1000 piece ones, I would have to restart several times before I really got going.

ChristmasBubble · 29/12/2020 01:27

I did this one over Christmas. It's a Christmas tradition to do one as a family but I couldn't visit my parents this year so did this one by myself bar a handful of pieces.

@ihatesandpits

Can I sneak in and ask for the best jigsaw to start with please! I'm trying to turn my alcohol addiction into a healthy hobby and would love a easy/but challenging jigsaw please! (Not to simple! But not too difficult if you get me! 😉) thanks all!!)
I would start with a 500 piece one, try and find something with plenty of colour/detail - anything with masses of shades of one colour avoid for now. I found loads of lovely, bright, modern jigsaws on George's Whitstable website. But just pick a picture that appeals to you.

I cannot believe that I didn't know about this thread. I've finally found people to talk about my puzzle obsessions with Grin I've just completed 2 500 piece Gibson Christmas puzzles. This was a lovely foiled one.

Lovely to see so many people joining this thread and sharing jigsaw stories and pictures.

Ihatesandpits the best advice I can offer is to select a puzzle where the theme appeals to you and where there is plenty of identifiable detail. This will help you make satisfying progress.
Charity shops can yield fabulous bargains or The Works has a reasonable selection.
Ravensburger puzzles are lovely quality and this makes the experience more pleasurable too.
Good luck!

Oo I can join in with this! I got DH a new puzzle for Christmas - a 1000 piece one of Mercury - and I bought myself one too, a 1000 piece foil backed one, which I chose because I like the colours

That Mercury one looks super fiendish ThewayoftheWorld !

Laska2Meryls · 29/12/2020 12:59

I was given this one for Christmas campsite puzzle
Not quite as good as actually going out to the forests in the campervan, but one can dream of better things for next year..

1000 piece Moomins for me. DH or the DCs usually get me one for Christmas, I do ask them to stick to 500 pieces as it's all I get time for usually and haven't got much space but they couldn't find one this year and I have more free time.

@Iwantacookie I feel your pain - my cats like to 'help' with my jigsaws too 😼 one recently started scratching around in the box with the pieces in - I whisked him away before he decided it was actually a litter tray Xmas Hmm
wannabebetter · 29/12/2020 13:08

Day two of attempting this one, 1000 pieces. First time in years I've got stuck into a jigsaw, bought this & Munsch 'The Scream' to keep me occupied!!

Some lovely puzzles on here! You have all inspired me. Am awaiting delivery of 1000 piece Lego minifigures puzzle (in the hope DC will help!) We did some Harry Potter in first lockdown but that only appealed to one of them 😁

babybythesea · 29/12/2020 13:13

I’ve just finished this one. Became slightly obsessed with it....

As a series, my favourite was a set by Falcon of paintings. As well as the one pictured, I’ve got one showing a wedding, another with a family round a piano, one by Degas, one of a grand dance in a ballroom. All 1800s impressionist style paintings. Love them.

I’ve come home with this thread and am happy to be here, although my Amazon list has grown.

(The butterfly one was hard, irregular shaped pieces so you can’t even tell which are the edges.)
