Anyone fancy a new jigsaw thread?

Hello all.

I really enjoyed the last jigsaw thread which was going on during the summer and wondered if anyone fancied sharing any pictures of jigsaws that are currently being done?
I'm nearly finished with my Disney Christmas one. A nice easy one which has only taken me a couple of days.
The weather is grim today so I expect it will be finished very soon! I will post a full picture once it is complete.
Would love to see your jigsaws....

@OohImBlindedByTheLights

Just finished this, took me a while
I ordered that this morning! I’ve been eying it up a while so I spent my Christmas money in it Grin

@Marmite27 my advice is to leave the lanterns to last lol!

I find I try and leave or do specific bits, but wile I’m doing that other bits happen organically 😂

Has anyone else tackled a photo mosaic puzzle, where each piece is made up of smaller pictures? This one took me three weeks to do.
I like them challenging, but only if they are good quality.
I get mine in charity shops mostly, but I bought one of the Lidl 1500 piece ones to try. It was only £4.99.

Ooh this thread is exciting! I discovered jigsaw puzzles over the summer and am now a fully paid up member of the appreciation society.

I'm still discovering brands/companies that aren't Ravensburger as that's where I started.

These are my two most recent ones, and I got this ocean one for Christmas.

I have finished mine. It wasn't too hard.

Greentea I’ve got two photomosaic ones. One of a flamingo and one of a dolphin.
I did the flamingo one years ago, pre-kids, and it took me forever but I had spare time to do it.
I did it by essentially squinting really hard at the picture on the box and finding the match for the photographs on the piece in my hand. I had patience and time!

I got the dolphin one out a year or so ago and it looked far too daunting so I put it away again!

babybythesea · 29/12/2020 22:14

Apollo that looks great. Where did you get it from?

Nomnomarrgh · 29/12/2020 22:33

I have next to zero concentration nowadays, apart from with jigsaws.

FrenchBoule · 29/12/2020 22:43

@Brassicasaurus can recommend House of Puzzles. Excellent quality and unique shapes,no “does it fit in here or not”

HelloDoris · 29/12/2020 23:37

I've found my people.. I'm on puzzle 4 if the Christmas break now.. a rather hard 1000 piece Dr Who monstrosity. My favourite so far has been a charity shop find of WIZARD CAT *hoping pics appear below.

@babybythesea I think my DD bought it in Oliver Bonas.

babybythesea · 30/12/2020 09:06

Brilliant, thanks Apollo. We had a bit of a crap Christmas, not least because my gran died just before it, and then we couldn’t be with family because we don’t live close enough to get to each other in a day, so mourning and being apart was rubbish, knowing if we lived closer we could have been together. So I’m planning on getting a couple of little extra cheer up presents for people and my mum would love this. As would I.

Brassicasaurus · 30/12/2020 09:28

Thanks @FrenchBoule I'll take a look.

@HelloDoris I'm eyeing up that Europe one on eBay at the moment. It looks good.

@babybythesea Sorry for your loss. That's a nice idea for your mum. Good to have something to do that you can pick at when you feel like it.

Not much progress last night as I struggled a bit, so ended up watching my tv programme more. Still enjoying it though. Lots of similar colours next though!

The Disney one was my very first one last year. I suddenly got the urge round about January, so bought a couple and a board, then sent my mum around the charity shops. She got me and the kids 10 jigsaws for £6!

I picked them up on the Friday before we were locked down. I was quite impressed with my (incidental) organisational skills Grin

icebearforpresident · 30/12/2020 09:38

Last night I finished the Cloudberries city scene puzzle someone posted a few pages ago, a great jigsaw which was challenging without being overly difficult.

My next puzzle is from my favourite band, Foo Fighters

icebearforpresident · 30/12/2020 09:38

There’s should have been a photo on that thread

@Brassicasaurus

Found a pic! I loved doing this one.

These are my first 3, then the lion king is my 4th. My kids love jigsaws too, and I’m probably guilty of buying Disney ones as I know they’ll appeal to them when they’re older Grin

I’m doing this one and finding it hard!
No nice straight-edge frame to kick off with. Only started last night, very slow progress so far.

The works seem to have a few jigsaws in atm.
Saw a fabulous circle shaped planet one the other day. I'm debating a trip into town to buy it now. It was only £5

toomuchlikemyusername · 30/12/2020 10:36

Some lovely puzzles being done on here. I think I will be starting a new one today. Not sure whether to stick with the Christmas themed ones (have done 3 in a row) or to break out a non Xmas one. Will have a ponder but I suspect I'll crack on with the Christmas ones as I won't be of a mind to do those once the tree is down and Christmas is over.

@Marmite27 £6? Good work!
Yes, loved that Disney one. So bright and appealing once it was finished. Prompted me to rewatch 101 Dalmations too Grin

ShellsandSand · 30/12/2020 11:46

These are fab. I started and finished this one yesterday. £1 from the charity shop and I love it. It's giving me spring vibes. I've got a Mushroom one coming today from Brand Alley. Can't wait as I love Mushrooms.
