Anyone fancy a new jigsaw thread?

Hello all.

I really enjoyed the last jigsaw thread which was going on during the summer and wondered if anyone fancied sharing any pictures of jigsaws that are currently being done?
I'm nearly finished with my Disney Christmas one. A nice easy one which has only taken me a couple of days.
The weather is grim today so I expect it will be finished very soon! I will post a full picture once it is complete.
Would love to see your jigsaws....

@TheSunIsStillShining
If you are interested in swapping the library themed one for any of these, let me know and we can do a post Christmas swap.

@PARunnerGirl
Nice!!
Is that a real tree of a plastic one? It's so symmetrical and really nice. This year we have the ugliest ever xmas tree in our lives :(

@toomuchlikemyusername
Not my cup of tea normally, but the boat on the canal caught my eye :)
I think I haven't used that phrase for ages and now twice just on this thread...

PAR your room looks very lovely and festive. I see you've got a blown up image to work from rather than just the box. Good move! Those browns and greens could be a challenge!

Onthebrink that one should keep you busy for a while! Good luck.

My dh is doing a Where's Wally jigsaw. He was up till 1am this morning alone doing it. I don't like them, I don't have the patience!

I have been working on this since the end of January, the stubborn cow in me will not be defeated!

I'm doing a supersize Ravensburger one but feeling pressured to finish because we need the table for Christmas dinner!

Didn't realise it was supersized until I looked at the dimensions. It's a lighthouse, 1000 piece so very tall but thinner than normal.

PARunnerGirl · 23/12/2020 18:23

@TheSunIsStillShining It’s real! Such a good one this year!

I did that one last week. I'm now doing a different Christmas Wally one. I don't like them either but my PIL went through a phase of giving DH one every year so we have a large stock of them!

I have one of those carriers that have a board for the puzzle (1000 p max.) and sorting space underneath and if sb unreasonably needs the table I can close the carrier and go somewhere else.

NainAGP · 23/12/2020 19:10

The Mucha jigsaw is the same as a set of prints we've got in the bathroom so it's as though it's come to life. Those 1950s village scenes turn up here too, some with interesting vehicles aren't too bad but with lockdown I find the only thing to do is plough on through in order to start a better one. I've had some good finds from ebay and have resold quite a few but we're getting a bit chocka. I do like the art sort but Sunflowers defeated us.

sunnysidegold · 23/12/2020 19:43

I have found my people! I got a board and a puzzle for Christmas last year and ordered a few more in the January... They were fab in lockdown. Unlike the Colin Thompson ones best - don't think I would like anything too impressionist with the colours.

I have a wasjig puzzle waiting for tomorrow. I've never done one before - not really sure how it works! Any advice welcome!

I may join you guys on boxing day! I haven't done a jigsaw in years so it may take me until next boxing day to finish it lol

Laska2Meryls · 23/12/2020 20:09

I wont be able to complete this until after Christmas now sadly , but it is rather lovely

I started this one the other night. I got it for £7 in the summer. I’ve got the boarder done, but don’t have a photo at the moment.

The Santa one was my last one.

@StrictlyAFemaleFemale

I bought myself a jigsaw advent calendar! Here they are laid out on the piano.
I’ve never seen anything like that! I’ll have to remember for next year Grin
Laska2Meryls · 23/12/2020 20:16

strictly love the Jigsaw advent calendar.. have you a link where it came from?

Senojeel77 · 23/12/2020 20:16

@sunnysidegold wasjigs are ace, but you may need bit of patience. Some of them are quite easy to figure out whats going on in them and some of them are utter bastards. Just remember that the box is only the clue and not the actual picture. I've done loads, you definetly need to be in the right head space to do them.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 23/12/2020 20:19

I am so excited for christmas...i have a giant puzzle board thing on my list and am hoping that's what Secret Santa has plumped for.

And if not I am going to get it anyway and order it on boxing day! And i am goign t order a puzzle of the mona lisa and frame it! :o and put it in the downstairs toilet.

toomuchlikemyusername · 23/12/2020 20:23

Great to see so many people joining the thread. There's some tricky puzzles being done out there and some beautiful ones too. I haven't got the patience for complex ones. I like a quick completion so kudos to all you people with the willpower and mindset to do the difficult ones.

Interesting how we have different tastes in puzzles. Like so many things I guess! My DP and I work well together on puzzles. He's got the patience to sort out subtle colour blends whereas I will happily sort through a box and recognise abstract details and know where it fits in the picture 'oh that's the man's elbow' or 'that's the window ledge of the post office' sort of thing. We pass many an hour on a cold night puzzling away.
(And if I'm puzzling alone, I leave the tricky bits for him Grin)

We were given one of those puzzle holders and it's a great idea but found in practice that we missed the click sound as a piece connected correctly! So you may have to add sound effects.
