Hello all.

I really enjoyed the last jigsaw thread which was going on during the summer and wondered if anyone fancied sharing any pictures of jigsaws that are currently being done?
I'm nearly finished with my Disney Christmas one. A nice easy one which has only taken me a couple of days.
The weather is grim today so I expect it will be finished very soon! I will post a full picture once it is complete.
Would love to see your jigsaws....

I’ve finished this one this afternoon, in better light tomorrow I’ll start the one my son had made for me for Christmas. It’s a picture of the four of us on holiday a couple of years ago.

I had two others for Christmas too, Val Goldfinch’s ‘Pork Pies and Puddings’ and one of Windsor which I actually already have.

Is the Christmas Santa a Thomas Kinkade?
Yep! Oddly picked it up in Waitrose when getting some nice goodies before Christmas.

@2000lightyearsaway123

Checking in to show you guys the puzzle I am starting today.
My DH bought me a Disney clemontoni panoramic jigsaw, it’s 20cm too long for my jigsaw board Angry

@latedecember1963

Some fabulous puzzles here. Is the Christmas Santa a Thomas Kinkade?

I think House of Puzzles or HoP do larger sized puzzle pieces.

If it’s my Christmas Santa one, no he’s not. He was a £4 special from home bargains.

Really lovely to do. I had a zoom with my SIL earlier and we compared jigsaws. I’m in like for a lovey tiger one she has, and she wants Santa next December Grin

As an aside, we've had some good results from a company called Cewe who turn photos into jigsaws using Ravensburger.

TheDuchessOfAquitaine · 28/12/2020 15:11

@NainAGP I’ve been thinking about getting photos made into jigsaws so will take a look thanks! Did you use photos of people or landscapes? I’m trying to decide which would be best.

NainAGP · 28/12/2020 15:26

TheDuchessOfAquitaneWe found land or cityscapes worked best, the pics of people were just too fuzzy round their clothes and faces. We also had an issue with one that hadn't been cut up well enough but after complaining they reprinted free of charge.

Thefilmisabouttostart · 28/12/2020 15:54

Just finished this jigsaw, we do one a year, in December, takes us a year to muster up the enthusiasm to go again. Mostly we get the puzzle from the charity shop - my sister chose this one for me, we all found it quite challenging.

you are all filthy enablers...

I cannot wait for the Mona Lisa to arrive, and now I also want a VanGogh Starry Night

I did do a fair bit of the NY one though once i got it settled on the board! I have been crocheting today so no puzzling.

Nomnomarrgh · 28/12/2020 22:26

I collect Mike Jupp and Jan Van Haasteren. I do 1000 piece ones and need to be kept amused as I work.

Sorry, the photo appears to be upside down.

Florian2012 · 28/12/2020 22:33

I've been given a 2000 piece New York skyline puzzle ! I'm a beginner and think I'll being too optimistic ! Any suggestions ?!

Literallynoidea · 28/12/2020 22:40

I've just gone back to jigsaws after years not doing them. Such a joy!

I like 1000 piece Christmas ones or photo ones of eg Dawlish harbour type of thing.

SourMilkGhyll · 28/12/2020 22:41

Ahhh, I have found my tribe!
I started a new one yesterday (Christmas present). Not the type I would usually choose but actually really enjoying it. Will post photo tomorrow.

reprehensibleme · 28/12/2020 22:47

Christmassy jigsaw. We buy from charity shops and return when completed. Was a bit suspicious of one we started a few weeks ago - after sorting there were no corner pieces and didn't seem to be enough edges, so counted the pieces and there were 699 - of a 1000 piece Jigsaw Hmm so it went in the recycling! Someone's having a larf......

Hi everyone. I am currently doing a snowy village one, I have to say I thought I'd like it but I'm losing the will a little now. The pieces are a bit flimsy too.
I struggled to find any cheaper ones online during the first lockdown so ended up with two from The Works. Once they're finished I'm going to treat myself to something else. I'm in Scotland and think the charity shops are shut for now, has anyone had any luck buying jigsaws on ebay?

Hazelmazel · 28/12/2020 23:07

Ah puzzle people! I love a jigsaw but I'm on my own in my house. I did the Christmas snow globe one posted earlier last week and I'm now on a Christmas alphabet one I bought in the sale last year.
My favourites are the wentworth wooden puzzles, they are a joy. Insanely expensive so I tend to buy on eBay then resell them. I like the difficult cut ones and now have a snowman and a nutcracker puzzle just for doing in December.

Ah, this is a lovely thread. Smile Puzzles are so absorbing. DH bought me this one last year:

I loved doing it, and was almost tempted to frame it but think that maybe puzzles make imperfect pictures, so are best kept as puzzles, to be enjoyed over and over again. I have found some decent ones in charity shops, but there is the chance of pieces being missing, unless they have been donated unused, in sealed boxes, which does happen sometimes.

By the way, Lidl have some 1500 and 2000 pcs puzzles at the moment. Probably not Ravensburger quality, but only about £5 each.

I am tempted to buy one of those fold up puzzle table things... any recommendations?

@StrictlyAFemaleFemale They do puzzle advent calendars?!? Wish I'd known before - that would defo be something to drop [massive] hints about to DH.

@Laska2Meryls That puzzle is adorable!

EmmaWithTheGreatHair · 28/12/2020 23:48

Love this thread and tempted to look for a good jigsaw.

ihatesandpits · 28/12/2020 23:52

Can I sneak in and ask for the best jigsaw to start with please! I'm trying to turn my alcohol addiction into a healthy hobby and would love a easy/but challenging jigsaw please! (Not to simple! But not too difficult if you get me! 😉) thanks all!!)
