I need to pee but can’t be arsed to move

Sending you best wishes ❤️ and hope it improves soon 🤗

My summer garden has started to sprout from seed, tomatoes ( large and cherry), cucumber, snow peas, dwarf beans, nasturtium, peppers, aubergine, chicory, micro greens.....

Now am doing battle with the slugs....and the baby rabbits

Champagneforeveryone · 03/11/2020 02:36

I have delivered a birthday card to DS's godmother. It was 2am after I finished work so I feel rather smug.

DH is taking his cold ravaged body to work later so I will have to get up in 5 hours to take DS to college.

And it's raining again.

mathanxiety · 03/11/2020 05:40

After a shaky start to the day when I scared myself silly because I had forgotten to wind the kitchen wall clock back an hour, I managed to go for a 40 minute walk after work, put on laundry, cook a simple dinner of tortellini, peas, and pesto, and fix the printer by taking out the toner cartridge and giving it a good shake. 'Out of Toner' my eye. I'm hoping to squeeze at least another six months of life out of the cartridge.

DS swung by with his otoscope to pick up the 20 page paper I printed out for him, and confirmed that DD3 does in fact need to remove several earwax boulders from her ears. I have the necessary drops and a bulb syringe in the bathroom somewhere. We will tackle it tomorrow, though she may prefer not to hear the result of the election and in that case maybe two weekends from now will be the Big Day.

DD4 has been on the phone with her friend for about 4.5 hours now, with no let up in sight.

Sorry about your power cut and dental horror, @MissConductUS. Get well soon Flowers

Teaandscone · 03/11/2020 06:09

I had a very uncomfortable sofa bed but I had some new seat cushions made for it. It’s lovely now!

HelenaJustina · 03/11/2020 06:37

I have such a long to-do list today that I don’t really want the day to start properly. Nothing on the list is particularly exciting or rewarding but I’m hoping for a mild sense of achievement if I get it all done.

ChickensMightFly · 03/11/2020 06:54

I'm going to submit my official notice to take my car off the road today, don't need to bear the cost of running two now dh is working from home all the time. I bought my car new 17 years ago and it's never broken down, it will feel odd not driving it anymore. It is very shabby these days but I never had to worry about scratches or theft.

PersisFord · 03/11/2020 07:13

It’s pouring here, and I have very little enthusiasm for the school run and the day in general.

ReallySpicyCurry · 03/11/2020 07:42

Gosh - I started the first one of these, buggered off, and had no idea my heirs had continued to a sixth thread! wipes away proud tear

My toddler slept through the night last night, well almost, apart from a brief wake up at 10.30pm because of the wind, she then slept until 7am.

I have ordered a large bulk bag of chocolate chips from Amazon

sueelleker · 03/11/2020 07:53

@ladybee28; I thought you were going to say that your shoes were actually on your feet!

PersisFord · 03/11/2020 08:10

This has reminded me of when someone rang me at work, and I asked for her number so I could ring her back. She spent 2 minutes frantically looking for her “lost” phone so she could tell me the number. It was, of course, in her hand and pressed to her ear. Cheered us both up when we realised

Spudlet · 03/11/2020 08:10

@MissConductUS Oh no. That sounds awful! Sending you some healing vibes from across the Atlantic (possibly also from 1990, who says vibes these days?!)

@ReallySpicyCurry Welcome back! You done a good.

Going to take my trip to the running shop for insoles today. I had the most bizarre dream last night though. I was one of my video game avatars, and Toto Wolff (the Mercedes F1 team principal!) was hunting me down, and I had to hide from him. It was terrifying, his head kept popping up over walls and things, and then he sent a much older and fatter than IRL, drunk, Carlos Seinz Jr to try and find me too. WTF, brain?

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 03/11/2020 08:14

After really heavy rain the clouds have cleared and I can see a beautiful blue sky. Sitting on the balcony with a coffee and feeling the beautiful fresh air.

Nydj · 03/11/2020 08:55

@MissConductUS, that sounds awful and not having any power on top of the pain is just too much. I hope you feel better soon and the power returns and if it’s not pushing my luck too much, I hope the US presidential election has a better outcome than last time.

I am ready and waiting for gardener to come and help move some established shrubs around in the garden. It is raining a lot so I know gardener won’t come but I’m ready for him in any event.

MissConductUS · 03/11/2020 09:15

Thank you all. Smile

The power came back on about an hour after I posted last night, so we got the heating back on and were able to make a simple dinner (leftover pizza from the freezer for DH and DD, yogurt and soup for me).

I'm surviving on ibuprofen and amoxicillin and am about to go for my run. I think I'll work from home today. I voted by post weeks ago so I don't have to worry about that. I don't think we'll really know the winner for a few days.

Ha! A perfectly possible situation.... you have a good measure of me!

These have honestly been some of my favourite threads EVER on Mumsnet.

Exactly what was needed in a year like this.

Thank you.

Champagneforeveryone · 03/11/2020 09:32

This morning it is (somewhat predictably) raining again.

The mouse is back on our bird feeder. I know we should discourage this at all costs, but we've become quite fond of the little chap and the sparrows seem indifferent.

DH should find out today if he's being furloughed. If he is I may end up murdering him.

TheSilveryPussycat · 03/11/2020 09:33

I am on a key meter for electricity. I checked it and had 71 pence credit left. So have been and charged the key.

Squirrel26 · 03/11/2020 09:43

I am wearing my gym kit at work all day because I just DO NOT CARE. It’s my small act of rebellion. TAKE THAT, BORIS.

(I will look a bit odd, of course, because I am a Beefeater at the Tower Of London*. Oh well!)

*I’m really really not.

I’d like to add my thanks for starting these threads which are like a soothing balm. They remind me of the Korean lady thread from a few summers ago
Nydj · 03/11/2020 10:20

Here is a link to the Korean lady in garden thread for anyone in need of extra soothing balm:

nolongersurprised · 03/11/2020 10:30

My oldest daughter forgot to bring home the parental permission slip for her electives for next year. It was supposed to be in yesterday. I’m encouraging her to forge my signature but it turns out she has integrity

EggyPegg · 03/11/2020 10:33

The Korean lady thread is so wonderful.

Also adding my thanks to @ReallySpicyCurry. This threads should be a permanent feature of MN going forwards.

Today I used the Post Office Click and Drop service for the first time, meaning I didn't need to go to the Post Office, I just sent DS1 to the post box on our street after printing and attaching the label. This is a revelation as our two local POs often have queues down the street.
