I can’t remember if I’ve fed ddog or not. He’s curled up on the sofa beside me looking relaxed, so I’m working on the assumption that I did, but I really can’t remember BlushConfused

I think I’m going to go out to where the food lives in a moment and try and gauge from the interest levels whether or not to give him a skinny possible second portion or not.

My Dcat Daisy is a huge con artist who will go to great lengths to convince me that DH has not fed her.

DD just texted me to tell me that she heard a loud boom, then the power went out. I've reported it to the utility via their app. She has a Zoom class in an hour and a half but can use her phone if she's had the sense to charge it.

@billydilly I feel your cat is somewhat more magnificent than mine!

I took DM to the garden centre today for a large pot to repot her Xmas tree. I found out garden centres will be staying open so my panic trip for mulch can be cancelled.

I've really liked reading these threads, thank you.
I'm making the roast that should have been last night's dinner if the chicken hadn't still been partly frozen. I've never frozen a whole chicken before and gave it 29 hours in the fridge to defrost, which I thought would be enough. I was wrong.

MissConductUS · 02/11/2020 18:25

Nothing really defrosts in the fridge. If I have to defrost something big I put it in a big zip lock bag and then drop that in a huge bowl of hot water. I don't know if a whole chicken would have fit.

The power company just texted me to say they expect to have the power restored by 3:00. Call me skeptical.

@CabinPressure Welcome to the thread, I'm glad you've enjoyed it. Smile

This is a lovely thread.

I am sitting on the sofa watching DDog snooze and DCat1 have a wash. There are minted lamb kebabs in the oven. DH is vacuuming the stairs.

soddingkitten · 02/11/2020 19:19

I managed to get a reasonably representative shot of Poomouse earlier. You can see how it might be mistaken for a toileting mishap first thing in the morning or as you walk into a room.

We had burgers for tea. I bought the basic brioche burger buns this week, which was a big mistake. My burger was a dinner disappointment.

caringcarer · 02/11/2020 19:20

We love to go to watch him play matches in the summer. They last hours. We take a large picnic and the dogs come too and we chat with other cricket parents/friends. A glass of wine in the sunshine. A very social sport for a child to do. Some matches have lasted from 12.30 pm until 9 pm. Then we get chips on the way home.

Spudlet · 02/11/2020 19:22

I can definitely see how Poomouse would give you that sinking feeling, especially first thing in the morning!

DH is just home so we’re about to have sausage casserole for dinner. We were meant to have this yesterday but I forgot to defrost the sausages so DH cooked a curry instead. It smells really good and DH is upstairs chatting to DS, which is lovely, but I’m starving!

SpeedofaSloth · 02/11/2020 19:26

Only Connect is on in a bit.

MissConductUS · 02/11/2020 19:31

I'm off to the oral surgeon. Sad

MissConduct All the best!

Spudlet · 02/11/2020 19:41

@MissConductUS Good luck!

Squirrel26 · 02/11/2020 20:41

I have found my water bottle. It was where I most likely left it when I forgot to actually pick it up and take it with me.

I might start one of those podcasts people listen to to help them fall asleep, telling my compelling tales of objects I've temporarily lost.

I am ABSOLUTELY with you on this.

I regularly tear up the house looking for my wallet, only to find it.... in my handbag.

Or I'll run all over looking for my shoes, while all the while they are... on the shoe rack.

I have so little faith in myself to put things in the right place, and yet 99% of the time, they're there.

mocha78 · 02/11/2020 21:04

I’ve just put my son’s school pe kit on to wash as it was muddy from football today-he’s got pe tomorrow and will only get muddy again but felt bad sending him in to change into a muddy kit. He said thank you, a rare nice moment from a nearly teenager turning more Kevin-like by the day.

EggyPegg · 02/11/2020 21:15

Hope it went okay @MissConductUS

Therainisback · 02/11/2020 21:34

I've changed my username as I messed up a copy & paste on another thread & was too embarrassed to post an explanation.

I have been wrapping Christmas presents this evening.

I am new to tofu and wondering what to do with it for tomorrow night's tea.

PersisFord · 02/11/2020 21:35

Oooh good luck @MissConductUS

That’s just lovely @caringcarer

@soddingkitten when we had a cat she used to shed great clumps of brown fur on the rug after frantic late night night grooming sessions. It’s not a good way to wake up. She also used to poo on the rug fairly regularly (completely senile) so we were always on high alert.

I am eating raw mushrooms sprinkled with nutritional yeast which is as nasty as it sounds. I have also just finished my book and am not sure whether to start the intellectual-ish one I have had unread since last lockdown or to reread something soothing. Will probably have a shower and try to gauge how long I want to stay awake for.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 02/11/2020 21:51

DS had an essay to write about a text bei Eichendorff - he has just finished.
I have decided that starting early is actually good for me, so I will go to bed now and listen to rain on YouTube (non loop).

CabinPressure · 02/11/2020 21:59

@MissConductUS
It still had bits of ice on the outside and everything. I'll know for next time. Bags + water is a good idea.

Thanks for the welcome Smile

Nydj · 02/11/2020 22:06

@MissConductUS, I hope the dental work went as well and painlessly as possible for these things and that you are home now.

TheBestSpoon · 02/11/2020 22:09

DS has fallen asleep at exactly 8:17pm for three nights running. I find the regularity of this oddly soothing...

FawnDrench · 02/11/2020 22:16

DH is wearing odd socks.

Haven't put the heating on all day.

I think the clock above the fireplace is a bit slow.

MissConductUS · 03/11/2020 00:02

It has not been a good evening.

The extraction was "challenging", with a curved root that did not want to come out, a perforation in the sinus and an abscess. And lots of bleeding.

I am home, sitting in the dark and cold as the power is still off, so I'm feeling a bit stabby (I love that word) at the moment.

I do however very much appreciate all of your good wishes. Smile
