There is a tiny elderly Korean lady in my garden and I want to go out.

Sold our summerhouse on gum tree. Dude came to look at it this morning about 9am, paid and was back by 11 to dismantle it. DH all togged up to assist but the guy politely and firmly refused as he wanted to take it apart himself so he could put it back together himself.

He pulled his van into our side return and installed a tiny elderly Korean lady (he is also Korean) on a deck chair on our patio.

He then spent an hour writing on every plank and taking 1500 photographs.

He then spent two hours peeling off the roof felt painstakingly. Korean lady has been to toilet twice. As far as I can see she is here for the day out.

However she has just been to the car and produced steaming hot noodles, broth and vegetables and they have had a lovely leisurely lunch on the patio.

He has just now resumed work and has actually started to remove the planks. Slowly. Methodically. I know because he has told me that there are 85 planks. Plus window. To removed and carry to car. DHs help has again been refused although he has taken matters into his own hands a bit and is carrying planks to car.

Elderly lady back on deck chair.

Help!! We want to go out and thought that this would take 2-3 hours max. It's been 4 and only the roof felt is off. We could lock the back door and leave them in the garden but what about elderly lady's toilet needs???? And water etc? They have a little tea break (from a flask) every now and then and have refused drinks but they must need water at some point.

Lock the back door and go out, they're grown ups, they'll be fine! wink

CoffeeTea103 Sat 09-Aug-14 15:19:44

It's not your problem. I would tell them they need to be out by a certain time. Imo they're pretty rude about it, who does thatshock

DiaDuit Sat 09-Aug-14 15:23:09

I agree. their problem. not yours. lock the house up and go out.

MummyBeerest Sat 09-Aug-14 15:23:29

They'll survive. They can't hold you hostage in your own home.

hahahahahaha sorry this is just too funny...get the bbq out and make a day of it. you never know when your next best friend is round the corner grin

IsChippyMintonExDirectory Sat 09-Aug-14 15:25:26

Sorry but this has also cracked me up!!
Just lock the doors and go, cheeky feckers are pushing their luck as it is. I'd also throw in and dramatic wrist watching while exclaiming loudly "wow is it that time already?!"

Footnote: I'm taking bets on how long it'll be before someone comments "why does it matter that she's Korean?"

I've just walked past him with a cuppa and he's said "I am thirsty too!!" So now I've made him a tea. I'm getting in deeper and deeper here.

Should also say DS spent the better part of the morning on elderly lady's lap. Just sitting there watching the roof felt being peeled off. She didn't speak to him and he didn't speak to her. Just sat together quite happily!

Just go out you weirdo! Their toilet needs are their own lookout.

EhricLovesTheBhrothers Sat 09-Aug-14 15:27:35

X post. This is hilarious!

It seemed relevant to the OP as I was going to say something about language barrier but didn't in the end!

Say goodbye and go out, chances are they'll still be there when you get back wink

TheBloodManCometh Sat 09-Aug-14 15:28:46

Leave them to it OP.
I don't know whether to be irritated by the man's process or deeply impressed with his patience.

The man is totally amazing. I'd don't know what he does for a living but he needs to be a builder or something. It's incredible to watch, he is so patient!

I thought the nationality was mentioned in regard to the fabulous sounding fresh noodle lunch.

OP don't worry you don't have to justify yourself but knowing mumsnet there's always one overly PC poster

Waltermittythesequel Sat 09-Aug-14 15:31:18

I love this!

Allalonenow Sat 09-Aug-14 15:31:39

It could be worse, the little Korean lady could have just taken up residence in the summerhouse as it was in situ.

StillStayingClassySanDiego Sat 09-Aug-14 15:31:54

Best thread title ever. grin

IsChippyMintonExDirectory Sat 09-Aug-14 15:32:59

I would piss myself laugh my head off if she was still sat there at midnight grin

Boysclothes Sat 09-Aug-14 15:33:26

The roof has come off surprisingly fast actually. Maybe the felt was the long bit!

He's sitting down now talking to elderly lady whilst drinking his tea. He's making lots of lovely appreciative "aha, hot tea!" sighs so I am feeling a little mollified. Cos he likes my tea. Easily pleased.

About to have heated whispered convo with DH about going out. Will report back.
