I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

That’s just where wants to sit, @MissConductUS. Some stupid human has left a thing in the way, but he doesn’t care, because that’s where he wants to sit. Grin

I’ve just had a Twix. I now want another Twix. I’m not going to have one but honestly, that’s only because I’d have to go out and buy it (I may yet do that.)

soddingkitten · 17/11/2020 13:45

Now I have some questions for the thread hivemind. See the picture. This creature did not arrive in that box, as he clearly doesn't fit in it. Does he want to be sent someplace? Is he hiding? What is going on in that cat's mind?

It’s a box, innit? Cat sees box, cat wants to get in box. There’s no logic to it. If you asked the cat why, he’d say “because it’s there”.

I like these cats in boxes:

"This box has just been left here, i'm sure its warm and cosy under my bum "
"hmm now what do i have to do , cos i'm just looking silly now"
"Oh no, she's taken a photo !"

There’s a lot of it about.

I have just remembered apicture book my daughters had called "My cat likes to hide in boxes" - so lovely!! Does anyone else know this one? An oldie but a goodie!

In more consistently dull news, my washing up liquid is playing havoc with my dry hands.

halfpasteleven · 17/11/2020 13:53

I might not know what's going through its mind but that is one cute cat!

SilkieRabbits · 17/11/2020 14:09

I asked DS about this as its said all cats have aspergers and he does too and also hides in small spaces. He said its for protection.

Armed with a cardboard box he is invinsible Grin Have you ever seen a cat fight one in a cardboard box? No, see it works.

Just had hot dogs for lunch. DS is very happy, he normally wants sausages every meal but he also says he likes variety, just needs to be a sausage. Chickens are singing away.

Is it Fairy? Fairy washing-up liquid gives me eczema.
SilkieRabbits · 17/11/2020 15:14

I've just read the history lesson to DS whilst he was on the ground whining. He says he's well but seems very tired though nagginess with school work is quite common when well.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 17/11/2020 15:33

I went for a walk with my friend today. She lives near what used to be my grandparents' home and is now a council park. I hadn't been into it for about 9 years so it was interesting to see the changes. There's about 10-12 acres of garden and another 70 or so acres of fields. Some of the steep bits of garden are fenced off because they need to improve the paths but a lot of it is accessible.

trimtops · 17/11/2020 15:43

I've just finished mowing my lawn, it was hard going, but I'm very pleased, there was a warmish wind blowing, so I got on with it, then I got the strimmer out and did the edges.
I'm tired out now.

sueelleker · 17/11/2020 16:17

@BlackAmericanoNoSugar Did your grandparents live in a stately home?

EggyPegg · 17/11/2020 16:20

I added red grapes to my lunch of pasta, spinach, cucumber, plum tomatoes and peppers today. They were a game changer. I wanted to tell.you all this at lunchtime but I have no reception at work.

SilkieRabbits · 17/11/2020 16:22

I had another clotted cream ice cream milkshake, DD asked me if it was really good. I said it was amazing though would dread to know what fat content is!

Electrician is coming to fix light next Tues at 8.30am.

Deathraystare · 17/11/2020 16:26

Those cats in boxes posts have probably tipped some of us over the edge! At least you remembered to post pictures so all is forgiven!

Now more exciting news (sorry!). I have had two Amazon deliveries of music CDs including Christmas ones, so I will be having a lovely musical Christmas (are we allowed to mention Christmas yet???)

I managed to get rid of a lot of toiletries and cosmetics to the lady that distributes stuff to the Women's Psych ward here. I am shocked how much stuff I got rid of. It made them all very happy anyway!

Taswama · 17/11/2020 16:43

Lots of mistletoe in the trees around here.

Spudlet · 17/11/2020 16:54

I went for a run this afternoon after home school finished (and damn well nearly finished me off too. Three days to go). But I kept getting stitches and having to walk. It’s the time of the month for me though, so it’s pretty good that I could go at all, given that the pain used to leave me passed out on the floor (not ideal when I lived alone 😬 and rather alarming to DH when he moved in, for all that I warned him!).

Our heating went on the blink earlier, but DH got it going again. He did explain how, but I am still not fully clear about this. I am nice and warm though.

Champagneforeveryone · 17/11/2020 17:00

A friend has asked for a "grown up plate and bowl" for her boys for Christmas. I'm totally fine with this, but must confess to being a little stumped by what criteria a nearly 5yo measures the grownupness of a plate with.

Also where one would buy such a thing?

Too much of my day has been devoted to this conundrum.

SilkieRabbits · 17/11/2020 17:10

We got our plates for kids (though older) from Wrendale.co.uk - we have the squirrel, mouse, bunny and duck but lots of different animals.
@BlackAmericanoNoSugar Did your grandparents live in a stately home?
It was more of a gentleman's country home with an attached farm. Think Elizabeth Bennet's family home rather than Darcy's. It's not country anymore as the city has stretched out, so it's now in the suburbs. My grandfather and his father were very keen horticulturists though so the garden is quite remarkable.

MissConductUS · 17/11/2020 17:50

Thank you MN hivemind for your feline options. I'm going with the protection theory as cats instinctively look for places that will make it easier to defend themselves if attacked. This is why they often seek high places.

Box cat did leave the box and joined me on a Teams call, complete with head bump. No one said anything as they've all seen him before. @halfpasteleven, thank you, he is a very handsome boy.

I'm wfh today for the first time in ages and went out to fill up the bird feeder and took a picture of the tree that came down in the storm on Sunday night. I'm glad it didn't fall into our yard.

DD has just texted me that she's taking my car to go to the bank. She has cash tips to deposit. So much for my plan to pick up lunch for the two of us from the deli.

Thank you very much, Spudlet.

Just about to take the minutes of a Zoom committee meeting. Friends of the local Museum and Art Gallery.

Very best wishes to you and your Mum, MissConductUS.

Champagneforeveryone · 17/11/2020 18:14

Thank you silkie, they're actually probably a good shout.

I am still perusing grown up plates. DH is instructing DS on how to hang his new guitar hooks on the wall. DS is an amazing guitarist so does not lack dexterity, what he does lack is a total absence of practical ability. DH is gifted with practical ability and a great shortness of patience. Currently DS is wielding a drill with all the precision of a blind man with no fingers, and DH is looking pained Grin

So far there has been no blood shed.

Squirrel26 · 17/11/2020 18:22

How about an Emma Bridgewater plate? You could personalise it, depending on your budget and the name of the child.

I considered getting one for my friend’s kid. Then I realised exactly how much it would cost me because friend’s kid has 10 letters it her first name...
