Thanks, OP.

Silkie - what a shame about the hairdressers and the under 16s Wink

In other news - lovely autumn colours against a blue sky today.

mycarsnores · 01/11/2020 12:08

We shall be having soup for lunch, as we do almost every day.
DH will be watching F1 on telly all afternoon and I have to go out to buy toothpaste as we have run out.
Every time DCat sees me she gets out of her basket and runs to her bowl hopefully, despite having already been fed!

soddingkitten · 01/11/2020 12:19

Roast in the bag chicken is in the oven. I was swayed by the pigs in blankets, which go better with chicken. 😆

PersisFord · 01/11/2020 12:30

@soddingkitten I wonder if, from your description, I am expecting too much of a wrinkle? I am doing it like that and I watched a video of Delia smith to get the idea (why does she use her little fingers for so many things?!?) but I have been expecting it to be fairly well set on the saucer. Is just a little wrinkle ok?

I am reacting to recent events by batch cooking (this is a frequent response from me, I feel I can face the world if my freezer is full of tomato based things, packed with hidden veg, and ready to be deployed with pasta/rice/on pizza at a moment’s notice). I think it is some kind of primal urge, or alternatively an avoidance strategy. DH has been sent out for more onions.

Squirrel26 · 01/11/2020 12:33

I don’t know much about hair dye, but I have my hairdresser does mine medium brown-ish every 6 weeks (in the before times) and then the front bits gradually fade to blonde-ish (I am not blond in real life). So maybe it is possible without bleaching? It’s probably not dramatic enough to satisfy a teen though.

SilkieRabbits · 01/11/2020 12:35

My cat says you have made an excellent choice Sodding and she'll have some chicken and pigs in blankets. DS loves pigs in blankets too and I have 36 coming for him at Christmas.

All 3 buyers have paid and I've arranged 3 pick ups. Just had a lemon curd yoghurt whilst I wait for the Sunday roast. DD still asleep.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 01/11/2020 12:35

These threads have been wonderful to read, thank you for starting a new one.

Today I found a packet of AAA batteries so I could make ds favourite toy work again. He was ecstatic.

soddingkitten · 01/11/2020 12:35

Yes, a gentle wrinkle is usually OK because it will have continued to boil while you are testing (unless you took it off the heat) so it is more done than you think. If you push and it wrinkles but immediately puddles back to smooth, then it needs more boiling.

I passed my exam at work. It's the entrance exam to a professional qualification that takes 3 years.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 01/11/2020 13:24

@Blueuggboots
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Purpleice · 01/11/2020 13:24

I have washed the kitchen floor, made pumpkin, carrot and lentil soup and done a batch of ironing. Curry tonight- although I am not great at making it.

PersisFord · 01/11/2020 13:25

@Blueuggboots that’s GREAT!! Well done!!

I've just written a 500 word essay on serotonin. It's fucking boring.

Squirrel26 · 01/11/2020 13:34

How exciting, @Blueuggboots! And now I must go and have a lie down. Grin.

Just watched the dog stand in the middle of the living room, in total inner turmoil as to whether to go for the sofa, the armchair or upstairs to the bed for his next nap. Grin

ladybee28 · 01/11/2020 13:41

I'm feeling a bit sad today that my dad's planned visit in 2 weeks now can't happen, due to the new lockdown in the UK. Haven't seen him in about 18 months.

So I'm comforting myself by making a big vat of chicken soup and listening to some John Martyn.

soddingkitten · 01/11/2020 13:56

Lunch was delicious. DH is now washing up. I could probably have an awesome nap on my full stomach but I need to iron.

Champagneforeveryone · 01/11/2020 14:06

So as not to keep you all on tenterhooks, the hair dye categorically did not work as I said

DS has sheepishly ordered bleach in preparation for round 2 Grin

sueelleker · 01/11/2020 14:12

I had a cut and colour booked for Thursday, so I popped into the hairdressers this morning and rearranged it for Tuesday.
@PersisFord; A sports massage can be quite painful, depending on how tight my muscles are, but they certainly feel a lot better afterwards.

MsAnnFrope · 01/11/2020 14:13

I’m contemplating icing the chocolate cupcakes I made yesterday but can’t decide how to flavour/colour the buttercream.

I’m watching Harry Potter 3 with DD and vaguely wondering what she can read next as she’s too young for the 4th book.

EggyPegg · 01/11/2020 14:15

@MissConductUS I found it immensely satisfying that you were both post 1 and post 1000 on the last thread. I was concerned that someone was going to take that last spot before you could post a link for a while there.

I have thrown away the scented bag thing I had hanging up in my car as it was giving me a blinding headache every time I drove. Anyone have any recommendations for car scents that don't cause headaches but fight the inevitable winter smells of mud and wet boy?

EggyPegg · 01/11/2020 14:23

Congratulations @Blueuggboots!

brimfullofasha · 01/11/2020 14:31

I've been driving around trying to buy daffodil bulbs. They are sold out everywhere. People are queuing outside shops again in the cold.

Thank you Eggy, it was a bit of a thrill for me too. I was really concerned that while I was out running, someone would post in that last spot. I kept stopping to catch my breath, checking the thread on my phone, and then hurried home just in time.

No scent will cover the smell of a wet boy, especially a wet teenaged boy. Put him in the back and open the windows.

Speaking of boys, my son's laptop is still in the shop getting the back put back on, so he'll have to do our weekly family Zoom call on his phone. New York continues to tighten travel restrictions, so when he comes home for Thanksgiving, he may have to quarantine, which would preclude him from going back to Boston to finish out the term at uni.

I tried watching some Foyle's War on my Kindle last night, and it is on longer available for free on Amazon Prime Video. I'd have to pay $7.99 per season to watch it, so I'm trying Endeavour instead, the post-war police procedural set in Oxford. It's okay so far, but I don't think the characters will match DCS Foyle and his trusty driver, Samantha Stewart.

The hamster is dangling upside down by one leg in its cage.

I've cooked some lentils but they've boiled over so I need to clean the hob.
