Hi all

I couldn’t find the new thread so here is one I set up. It’s windy out there! Glad I weeded my flowerbeds a couple of days ago.

Actual cases as in going to hospital cases or cases as in positive test results?

How about Selfish Angela in a rut with amaretto in her porridge?

Liverpool here. Genuine question to fellow Scousers and everyone else. Do I support the mass testing and do my bit or not . On one hand I think why would we be selected when our rates are falling ? It is well known that if there is one city Boris despises and that despises him it is Liverpool. If this fails massively we have been the guinea pigs and he has lost nothing as hell would freeze over before Liverpool votes Conservative and any failure can be put down to ‘bolshy scousers’ I worry that this is a way of finding worryingly high numbers of (asymptomatic) people with Covid so that they can put us into a (newly created for us !) tier 4. On the other hand if people genuinely think this could potentially be a game changer either just for us as a city or on a nationwide basis I want to do my (extremely small!) bit. Any thoughts ? Appreciate this may have been addressed upthread - if so sorry but haven’t had chance to read the full thread as have been watching LIverpool win 5-0 tonight !

On average 1600 people die every day in the UK - that's in 'normal' times.

This varies through the year - and currently deaths recorded as from other events than covid are down, meaning that when we add in the deaths that have been recorded as 'with' covid - numbers are pretty average. People dying with Covid doesn't mean that all of them have died from Covid and some will have died 'from' Covid just a few weeks earlier than something else would have killed them. That doesn't make it good but it does add perspective.

I don't think I really qualify as an AD tbh but I have just been on another thread where people have been saying they've found this year to be quite "pleasant" and even "good".
