Hi all

I couldn’t find the new thread so here is one I set up. It’s windy out there! Glad I weeded my flowerbeds a couple of days ago.

Obviously DH will get it FAR worse than me. Between that and babyfuckingshark I'll be clawing at the walls in three days.

Littlebelina · 03/11/2020 19:59

Ps, hope you feel better.

That independent seller thread is great. Found a pressie I was going to get from amazon from a shop local to me and not much price difference

SirSamuelVimes · 03/11/2020 20:00

@Sonicthehedgehogg

Not too bad atm thankfully... fingers crossed it doesn't get worse and I'm one of the lucky ones.

Most concerningly.... I don't even fancy a drink.

I mean, statistically, you probably will be! Not sure "lucky ones" is the right phrase - it sort of connotes the 'odd few who got away with it' to me.

Anyway, my poorly articulated point was meant to be - hope you feel better soon, I'm sure you will do! Rest up xx

Sonicthehedgehogg · 03/11/2020 20:03

@Littlebelina Hope your DS (and everyone else in the house) is ok.

No call from T&T as yet. Thankfully I knew I'd been exposed and have been isolating, apart from a walk in the local area, since I knew my colleague had a cough and was testing herself. Only contacts are DH and DD who are at home with me anyway because we're on annual leave.

Sonicthehedgehogg · 03/11/2020 20:05

@SirSamuelVimes Yes, you're right. I just feel the need to cover my arse before someone jumps on the thread to call me callous and dismissive of how bad it is for other people.

Urgh, thread invaders. Tell them they are invalidating your lived experience or some such guff.

I had it in April (probably). Family members were practically sending their condolences. I think a few of them were quite put out when I told them I was fine & to send beer instead.

ISaySteadyOn · 03/11/2020 20:13

Am pretty sure DH had It before Lockdown Mark I. He actually went and rested in bed when I told him to Smile.

Track and trace were on the phone to my DD for 30 mins, it was tortuous!

MercyBooth · 03/11/2020 20:36

@KeepOnKeepingOnAgainandAgain

Im for social distancing mask wear (for those that can) and hand sanitising. No problem with any of that. But i dont agree with lockdowns now (i was on the fence with the first one) They cause distress , poverty and damage to the economy. Banning families from seeing each other is bloody inhumane. They have had almost NINE MONTHS to sort this. We are having to lock down again because Boris and Chums paid their unqualified mates for Track and Trace.

Criticizing the Governments Covid response is not the same as being a Covid denier.

Plenty of disability deniers to be found on the mask threads though. I didnt actually start out on these threads here, But the mask exemption hatred made the scales fall from my eyes.

COPD affects many many people (including my DH) Although not contagious it affects your lungs and breathing and has killed many.
But that hasnt stopped people accusing COPD sufferers of malingering, It hasnt stopped COPD sufferers being made to jump through hoops for their benefits (an old school friends mum died from this after having hers stopped because they said she wasnt ill enough)

Funny how COPD deniers doesnt seem to have entered the vernacular though!!!

@AcornAutumn
"Yes. And people are offered amazon vouchers to get tested as part of studies. Of course I understand the need for research but I’d prioritise infection control."
I've signed up to the wrong study there! Absolutely no reward whatsoever! Which is probably how it should be, I suppose.

@ISaySteadyOn
I'm sorry you feel scared & lost. I get what you mean. I developed anxiety over doing a quite ordinary thing, in response to a very stressful period in my life. It's got easier but on days when the weirdness of this current situation gets to me, I find my anxiety about doing that same ordinary thing comes back.

I have had to keep trying to keep going when it happens but it isn't pleasant. It helps to not beat myself up about feeling stressed & anxious.

Aargh! Internet playing up & won't let me post!
I was trying to say, @ISaySteadyOn I'm sorry you feel like this. I can identify with what you describe. Be kind to yourself.

ISaySteadyOn · 03/11/2020 21:07

Thanks.

justasking111 · 03/11/2020 21:24

156,000 tested positive in the last week. When you add the figures together it is worrying. Nearly 1900 deaths. It is sobering.
