Come and join me
I loathe the long winter evenings, cannot abide all the snuggling
And fucking hygge and cosy can do one
Oh and no I don't want a hot choc Envy
I'm already longing for spring
Even more so this year currently sat in a lockdown
Come and get comfy and there won't be a squishy blanket or fairy light in sight Grin

Can I join you if I'm ambivalent about hot chocolate, don't care for cosy decorations much but do like to be wrapped up warm?

My light hearted irritation is that the answer to everything at this time of year is family time hot chocolate / have a hot chocolate with a fluffy blanket / occupy the kids with a hot chocolate before bed. Before bed? Mine would be climbing the walls if I gave out chocolate and marshmallows before bed. Grin

Gastropod · 25/10/2020 18:11

Ugh yes, keep your cosy and your dark evenings. Give me sunlight and bare feet!

jennie0412 · 25/10/2020 18:13

More for the sane people rest of us! Grin

Toilenstripes · 25/10/2020 18:18

I agree but the cool weather is here and my fairy lights are on!

formerbabe · 25/10/2020 18:20

Ha ha, same! Cringe so much at the snuggly hot chocolate cliche.

AcornAutumn · 25/10/2020 18:22

I hear you

This period up to Xmas is the worst. After that, the daylight gets longer, yay. Even minutes - by the end of January I feel better.

Just really hope it’s not freezing this winter.

EerilyDeleted · 25/10/2020 18:22

I long for light evenings, but dislike too much hot weather, so May and September are my favourite months. I don't mind the occasional snuggle with hot chocolate but I'd much rather be on the patio with a glass of white wine.

MrsGrindah · 25/10/2020 18:23

I love this time of year but hate the hot choc/ PJs/ snuggle up with a movie brigade. I don’t think I could actually consume a hot chocolate and marshmallows..far too sweet and claggy. I don’t know why reading about PJs and hot choc gives me the rage but it does.

SinkGirl · 25/10/2020 18:23

A few months ago I would have agreed but I got a Velvetiser as a random gift and the hot chocolate is bloody delicious. Sorry, I’m now a defector to the dark side.

DoYouWannaBeInMyQuiche · 25/10/2020 18:24

I loathe:

Twinkly lights
"Cosiness"
"Snuggliness" (boak)
"Hot choc"
"Curling up"
All the months between September and March, basically, with a particularly loathing reserved for November, which ought to be banned by law.

Though I do celebrate after the pinnacle of winter awfulness (i.e. Christmas), when evenings officially start to get two minutes lighter every day.

I love:
Natural light
Sunshine
Greenery
Fresh air

I am of a certain age, so the last thing I want is anything that makes me feel artificially hotter (fuck off, blankets and hot water bottles).

yearinyearout · 25/10/2020 18:25

I know someone who announces her snuggling on Facebook at least three times a week. She's always snuggled up with her cosy throw, with her candles lit, drinking whatever, watching something! Nobody gives a shit about your snuggling.

DoYouWannaBeInMyQuiche · 25/10/2020 18:25

God, I forgot about "PJs". I hate those, too.

I'm basically a miserable old git for several months of the year, and actually feel unreasonably wound up by any mention of hot chocolate and blankets.

PinkBuffalo · 25/10/2020 18:26

I hate the darkness of this time, I love natural light.
It is currently 18:26 and feels like bed time i hate it

AuntieMarys · 25/10/2020 18:26

I do like autumn. Hate the idea that everything can be made better with hot chocolate ( usually shit Cadburys) and snuggling down for a duvet day.

AcornAutumn · 25/10/2020 18:26

Happy to drink hot chocolate any day! I don’t need short dark days to do that.

bigcatlittlecatcardboardbox · 25/10/2020 18:27

YES MY PEOPLE. I hate hot chocolate, and I hate hate hate 'hot choc' and I have NEVER understood it - 'snuggling up with a hot choc' makes my skin crawl.

I'd much rather have a lovely glass of red.

Fairy lights make my eyes itch, fluffy socks make me sweat and no DH I do not want to fucking snuggle I have shit to do.

I do however have a penchant for lovely autumn food like pie, slow cooked chilli and stew with crusty bread. All with aforementioned red Wine

MysweetAudrina · 25/10/2020 18:32

I'm sitting here in my comfy blanket, candle lit, winter garland lights on, winter tree with lights on and wondering should I buy a velvetiser I just had a slow cooked rib of beef with carrot and swede and the heat is ion and the dog is snuggled up on my feet. Give me warm, sunny weather over winter but if I'm going to do winter I'm going to do it in comfort and little things like lights and candles give me a lift. The seasons are there for a reason and I thinks it's important to enjoy each one for what they offer. Lovely 2 hour autumnal walk earlier and relaxing now.

formerbabe · 25/10/2020 18:33

Yes I count down the days until they start to get longer...cannot stand it being dark so early...so depressing.
DoYouWannaBeInMyQuiche · 25/10/2020 18:34

AuntieMarys, if someone wanted to torture me, they would suggest a duvet day.

fruitbrewhaha · 25/10/2020 18:34

I fucking hate winter.

Just remember the lovely hot days of summer. When by mid morning I'd have to change out of a t-shirt and into a vest or bikini top to sit in the garden as it would be so hot.

SplitEndsNHairyLegs · 25/10/2020 18:36

Sod hot chocolate and dark mornings/evenings. And fucking Christmas looming 😫

I actually do like ‘snuggling up to watch a film’ in normal times, but after months of lockdown it’s lost it’s shine.

TheSweetestHalleluja · 25/10/2020 18:39

I do love snuggling (and hot chocolate and cosiness and blankets and hygge Grin

But I do really struggle around January/February when it is colder and Christmas has been and gone so all the excitement and anticipation of that has gone, those months really do drag on so long. By then I'm so over snuggling and hot chocolate and ready for Spring! So grateful when March arrives and signs of Spring are everywhere.

Thefaceofboe · 25/10/2020 18:41

I’m sat reading this thread, under my blanket, with a hot chocolate Blush you’re all missing out!

Millie2013 · 25/10/2020 18:44

We’ve had a “duvet day” today, now DD is feral. Wishing we’d gone to the park (and got soaked) instead
Autumn = damp and miserable,
And the only good thing about winter is that spring is on its way

FoxBaseBeta · 25/10/2020 18:48

What if you like the snuggliness in Nov/Dec but are ready for it to fuck off and be Spring/Summer by January?
