Come and join me
I loathe the long winter evenings, cannot abide all the snuggling
And fucking hygge and cosy can do one
Oh and no I don't want a hot choc Envy
I'm already longing for spring
Even more so this year currently sat in a lockdown
Come and get comfy and there won't be a squishy blanket or fairy light in sight Grin

I hate the dark nights, dark mornings and dark bloody everything! I am a summer barefoot kind of person. Roll on spring.

Ilovemypantry · 25/10/2020 18:48

I absolutely love the winter when it gets dark early.

I love lighting the candles in my lanterns, the glow of the fire, the cosy throws, the hot chocolate. I love everything about it except having to go out in the freezing cold.

I’m not a big fan of hot, sticky, uncomfortable summer days and nights, give me Winter every time.

Cactuslockdown · 25/10/2020 18:53

Yes! Barefoot in the garden, reading in the sunshine, birds singing.... ahhhh

Splodgetastic · 25/10/2020 18:53

Oly4 · 25/10/2020 18:56

I adore Christmas but loathe everything else about winter. Give me beaches, long days and warmth on my skin

Poppingnostopping · 25/10/2020 18:58

Oh I hear you! I just hate that coldness and dampness that goes on and on. People say there's no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes (giggle). This is not true, if you put a thermal vest on then as soon as you go in somewhere heated, you sweat for England (especially if a lady of a certain age), but if you don't, then you are freezing. Even if you have a padded coat on, the cold leaks in round your ankles and wrists, and dressing like a yeti and then having to take it all off again is time-consuming and boring.

Things that are nice: Autumn leaves and trees, not risking sunburn or having to apply sunscreen.

Things that are not nice: Absolutely everything else!

SoupDragon · 25/10/2020 18:59

I was just rolling my eyes at the weather forecast whilst thinking of the posters who harp on about "crisp autumn days".

I'm sick of damp, damp and more damp' slimy leaves and mud. So much mud.

Figgygal · 25/10/2020 18:59

I hate Mumsnets obsession with hot chocolate like it’s fucking fried gold And now hate hit chocolate generally especially the sachets that end up in every gift basket, Xmas eve box, daughters period pressies

Oh and the rain bloody hailed earlier when I was out walking
Nightmare

SoupDragon · 25/10/2020 19:00

and it's AGES til summer.

Runmybathforme · 25/10/2020 19:02

Can’t wait for the clocks to go forward again, bloody love the summer, hate the endless drab days. However, had my first taste of Green and Blacks organic hot chocolate today and it was scrumptious.

SoupDragon · 25/10/2020 19:02

That said, there absolutely will be a "squishy" blanket here because I'm sodding cold and fed up. And I need to walk the dog (in the cold, dark dampness).

Can you tell I'm mildly fed up? 😂

Coldandwet123 · 25/10/2020 19:12

I found my people.
There's nothing cosy about cold, dark wet mornings and evenings.
Only seeing daylight at work.
Yuk!
I have cosy socks on though as I type this.

cptartapp · 25/10/2020 19:16

I want palm trees. The feel of sand between my toes. I want to eat and drink outside and feel hot sunshine on my face. I want to swat flies away, watch the shapes of white clouds in a blue sky and my skin to feel sticky from sun cream.
Roll on next year.

TheNavigator · 25/10/2020 19:23

I'm just here to join in the loathing of snuggling, cosines and hot chocolate. No thank you. November looms and it is the shittest month - bleak, dark and rainy. Woe is me.

I love crisp autumn days but not the chilly damp dark and I love daylight. I live in Scotland so although I don't expect good weather, I love our endless summer days, when it feels like you have just watched a lovely sunset then you are seeing the sun rise.

I've never understood the allure of snuggling with a hot chocolate, just depresses me further.

Parkandride · 25/10/2020 19:23

Why does everyone love autumn, everything is dying, you're celebrating death! Spring is so much nicer.

I do prefer cold weather though, and a hot chocolate is always welcome

Leafyhouse · 25/10/2020 19:26

How about mulled wine? I can't bloody wait for ski season to start, so November is really the ultimate sucky month. Summer a distant memory, but ski season not underway yet...

timeforawine · 25/10/2020 19:27

Damn you now I've had to go get a hot chocolate!
Urgh to the snuggling though.
Give me summer any day

ilikebooksandplants · 25/10/2020 19:29

I love autumn, and I love the dark. I love hot chocolate too, especially if it is from hotel chocolat and comes from my velvetiser.

I would rather set myself on fire than talk about snuggling up with a hot choc though.

Obviouspretzel · 25/10/2020 19:29

For those who say they prefer the fresh air, what could be fresher than the morning air in autumn and winter ?

I don't like hot chocolate much or fluffy socks or it being too hot indoors. But I do like winter for

Red wine
Sunday dinner with a real ale
Walks outside
Pie/stews/soup
Fairy lights and candles
Drinks outside a bar or in the garden wrapped up with maybe a fire
The smell.

pumpkinpie01 · 25/10/2020 19:29

I like hot chocolate but I hate winter with a passion . Nothing cosy about my house - open plan downstairs so all heat escapes , leather sofa so no coziness there😫. Everytime I go out scarf, gloves and boots or I'm freezing give me flip flops and sun any day !

eggandonion · 25/10/2020 19:30

I hate September and January and I hate hot chocolate. I quite like Christmas but I don't like the new normal, and I'm in a country with a strict lockdown.
I like May best, and a cup of tea outside because I want to be outside.

JustMeAndMyTins · 25/10/2020 19:31

Ha! I’ve never thought about this to realise it but I hate all this too!

Currently sat with the heat cranked up so I can sit (upright and blanketless) in a vest and barefoot.

I do like a hot drink though...never hot chocolate but still. Am I still eligible for the group?

LolaSmiles · 25/10/2020 19:38

People say there's no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes (giggle)
I'm one of those people Blush
I thought I'd found my tribe here but might have to make a hasty retreat.

I love having my nice walking clothes on and taking the dogs out for a long autumnal walk in the fresh air, as long as nobody suggests that when I get in I have a bath / put my feet up and snuggle on the sofa / insert twee autumn or winter thing here.

Rhine · 25/10/2020 19:40

I hate the dark nights and mornings. So depressing. I really need lots of daylight to function normally.

badacorn · 25/10/2020 19:43

You feel the way I feel about summer. Summer can go to hell! I’ll keep my woollen blankets and darkness. You’ve reminded me to make a hot chocolate.
