Come and join me
I loathe the long winter evenings, cannot abide all the snuggling
And fucking hygge and cosy can do one
Oh and no I don't want a hot choc Envy
I'm already longing for spring
Even more so this year currently sat in a lockdown
Come and get comfy and there won't be a squishy blanket or fairy light in sight Grin

I utterly loathe winter, it's evil. I can't stand the cold, and I'm pretty much always cold at anything under 25 degrees. If it were up to me I'd emigrate to a year round sunny climate, seasons be damned.

#pileofwank 😄😄😄

Yes, my people, at last! Hate winter. May is the month of months, I love it so much that sometimes I can’t enjoy it properly. I love being up early and late to bed and feeling full of energy despite half the amount of sleep. The soft new leaves, stuff growing, the light, the smell of a summer night.
My family cruelly torment me in August by pointing out blackberries and treacherous swallows lining up on telegraph wires. The A-word is banned though.

@DrCoconut could this vit D be for you? It's an oral spray instead of a tablet.

Same as you guys. Head down til daffs in March Sad

megletthesecond · 26/10/2020 07:40

Hate it.
Watching films togther can do one. The opening titles barely end before DD starts WW3 with her brother.
I've planted more spring bulbs to keep me ticking over.

Ginfordinner · 26/10/2020 08:25

What's with the love of fairy lights and candles? I don't get it Confused

Tiny pinpricks of light that hurt my eyes. And fairy lights are so twee. IMO they only look good on a Christmas tree. Give me strong bright lighting any time. I have poor eyesight and need good light to read. Low lighting depresses me.

I hate "cosy", "snuggle", "hygge" etc. They just make me feel claustrophobic.

We have a warm house with solar panels, and can afford to heat it. I wear jumpers in cold weather, but being in a room cold enough to require a blanket as well just depresses me.

I much prefer summer clothes. I wore shorts a lot this summer, and walked around in bare feet. It was great.

I don't like Christmas or new year and hot chocolate is just a hot, sweet fattening drink. I prefer tea.

I have found my people

formerbabe · 26/10/2020 08:32

I hate Christmas and New year, I grin and bear it and wait for it to be over. I only bother with Christmas for my dc...I'd happily never bother with it.

I love spring...April/May are my favourite months. Nice and bright, kids still at school Grin not too hot or too cold

Hobnobswantshernameback · 26/10/2020 08:35

Oh my days
Posted this last night and my phone died
There's lots of us Grin
Clearly I'm not the grumpy anti cosier that my DD tells me I am Grin

Thank God. I just don't get it. Who enjoys dark grey days and endless dark nights.

Fleece is the work of the devil and everything winter he made of it. It's basically plastic with a horrible texture!

Hot chocolate is nothing, coco flavored hot water yuk.

It's all blah

userxx · 26/10/2020 08:47

Hate it with a passion. It's pissing it down here today and will probably stay that way until March, this time of year always makes me feel trapped but this year i feel is going to be much worse.

Think I need to stock up on red wine to see me through...... fuck hot chocolate 🤮

AfterSchoolWorry · 26/10/2020 08:48

@Leafyhouse

How about mulled wine? I can't bloody wait for ski season to start, so November is really the ultimate sucky month. Summer a distant memory, but ski season not underway yet...
Mulled wine is like a cup of warm vomit!
Hobnobswantshernameback · 26/10/2020 08:51

Thing is Autumn is a glorious time
Utterly beautiful on a crisp cold sunny day
Here, we get about two of those and then it pisses down till March
This year the idea of being stuck in the house supposedly all snuggly and cosy whilst it pisses down
Interspersed with trying to get to and from work in the dark in the damp and rain
To be honest it's the shit cherry on top of a shit cake of 2020

GiraffeNecked · 26/10/2020 08:53

Red wine is nicer during winter.

Proper warm And waterproof clothes make it Nicer to get out in daylight.

Fairy lights....keep that shit.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 26/10/2020 08:54

I concur that red wine is the perfect autumn winter drink

Coffee4Queen · 26/10/2020 08:55

I hate the coziness, snuggliness, crispness any of the nesses and the ugly winter fads that pops up! This year it seems to be the year of the oodie. How is sitting in an oversized baby blanket with a hood, a cup of overly sweet powdered crap, watching dark, scary shite on TV preferable to lazing under a tree with an icy wine, beer, pimms? The sunshine, the warmth absolute heaven. I can never ever get warm no matter how many layers I”m wearing.

MaudesMum · 26/10/2020 08:57

Can't have hot chocolate because I'm on a bastard diet. Live by myself so snuggling isn't much fun. And I live in the west of the country where rain is the order of the day. So, damp, slushy leaves to slide through. Last winter I wore my waterproof parka every day for three months - I counted. Looking forward to February when spring starts to show a few tentative signs.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 26/10/2020 08:59

And don't get me started on the lack of light
I've been on the vitamin D already for a while so hoping that will help
My workplace has no windows
So once in unless I go for a walk at lunchtime I don't see daylight
It can be whole weeks in December where I barely see daylight Monday to Friday
I hate it

St. John's wort is on my shopping list.

eggandonion · 26/10/2020 09:20

I have the idea that sherry would be the ideal autumn drink. My problem is that I think sherry is horrible.
I try to take my dog for his evening walk before it gets dark, but my dd is wfh, so she wants to go out with us...it will be dark.
Lovely cold bright days are ok, but grey and miserable are horrible. I live for Valentine's day, the hope that spring is coming.

CoodleMoodle · 26/10/2020 09:21

I hate all of this too. Well, I do like hot chocolate (don't drink tea or coffee so it's my warm drink of choice) and warm PJs, but everything else is shit.

The idea of snuggling under a blanket and watching a film with DC is a lovely one, and I might get away with it with DD(6), but DS(2) would get bored after 0.3 seconds and wriggle out, insist I get down on the floor to play(/freeze), be too loud for us to enjoy the film, etc. Maybe in a few years...

Juniperandrage · 26/10/2020 09:25

I'm not a big fan of winter, I have seasonal affective disorder, but I try to make the best of it by keeping myself nice and cwtched up with fluffy blankets warm drinks, nice smells and comforting media

KizzyWayfarer · 26/10/2020 09:33

Autumn trees are beautiful round here but it’s a melancholy beauty. Just round the corner is proper dark and cold and the constant saccharine Christmas hard sell of December. The only good thing for me about the run up to Christmas is choir singing and that’s out this year. Sad
In very early spring, the weather may be grim, but at least there’s a feeling of optimism, bulbs coming through and the days getting longer. This thread has inspired me to buy more spring bulbs!

formerbabe · 26/10/2020 09:47

September isn't a bad month, weather is usually ok and its not too dark in the evenings but I hate it because I know winter is coming.

movingonup20 · 26/10/2020 10:06

''Tis why we have central heating! Temperature today is warm enough for shorts in my house (luxury I know but wfh so saving big on petrol)
