I did some logic problems.

Mamabem · 15/10/2020 21:36

I ordered a new bin. It's one that has different sections for general waste and recycling. I'm disproportionately pleased. I hate leaving recycling by the back door to take outside.

vanillandhoney · 15/10/2020 21:38

I just had some salted caramel Galaxy. I was disappointed.

Mamabem · 15/10/2020 21:44

Ooooh AND the window cleaner is coming tomorrow. My cup truly runneth over.

PersisFord · 15/10/2020 21:51

In an update on my ice cream making plans, I realised that we needed actual chocolate. I couldn’t be bothered to wrestle with the Sainsbury’s app so I nipped in to the garage and bought 2 big bars. Turns out I only need one bar so will eat the other one over the course of the weekend.

Ordered some new school uniform as we are supposed to send them in freshly washed clothes every day - previously we had 3 jumpers/trousers and usually that did the week, depending on how messy lunch was. I’ve been trying to keep on top of it with midweek washes but it’s too stressful so I’ve just bought more.

I saw a girl at school pickup wearing really pretty school shoes. I am now going to browse school shoe sites to find them and see if they come in my size.

I made chilli for the first time ever today (a vegetarian one). It was a roaring success with both DS2 (7) and I. I normally don't like the texture of beans, but I took one for the team for DS2, and they were okay actually.
DS1 (9) and DH had a rack of ribs each. DS2 also had four of DS1s ribs in addition to his chilli. DH was very proud as he watched them tuck in (first time trying them).
My planning has gone to pot though as it's chlli at school tomorrow and DS2 wants to have it instead packed lunch. Mine was lentil chilli, schools will be beef. Totally different... right?

MissConductUS · 16/10/2020 00:13

Eggy beef chili is a total different dish than lentil chili thank god. Carry on. 👍

DH and I both got home late so he stopped at McDonald's to get takeaway. It was good, we haven't had McDonald's in ages.

My neighbour kindly brought the bins in after they had been emptied.

However, he took mine into his garden instead of his and left his by my gate.
I had to go into his garden and swap them over.

Bins seem to be an endless source of drama and consternation on MN.

You have no idea missconduct

Here we have competitive bin putting away, where everyone is so keen to help their neighbours that the bin men are practically mugged as they wheel them back.

DH takes part in this weekly event if he's off work, I haven't put my own bins back for about 4 years Grin

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 16/10/2020 02:41

I can hear a low level hum a bit like an engine running. Can't sleep. No idea what it is but it's driving me mad.

KoalaRabbit · 16/10/2020 02:45

I can hear a high level howling. I can confirm it is our 15 year old cat trying to wake up her preferred servant DH for a 2.44am breakfast. Unfortunately for her he's half deaf.

You could be hearing The Hum - google it. My friend and I can both hear it overnight in our village from time to time. Our husbands cannot.

I found my set of work keys that I thought I had lost several weeks ago, and replaced. Now that I have two sets I can safely lose one of them.

The deck power washers did the decks today. They will return next week to do any needed repairs and then seal them. I have two dozen potted plants in my sitting room and dining room, having taken them in from the deck. I would have had to do it anyway as it's only a few degrees above freezing here tonight.

KoalaRabbit · 16/10/2020 06:52

Heard a crash. It was DS's rabbit knocking down the baby gate. At least he didn't get as far as the cat.

Spudlet · 16/10/2020 07:41

I seem to have fallen into a sleep cycle where I have a dream then wake up for a wee at about 4am, then am dreaming again when DS comes in at 7-ish. This is annoying because it means I’m always groggy when I wake up!

Deathraystare · 16/10/2020 07:46

Did the 2-8 pm shift yesterday. Asked the porter that would cover when my shift was over if it was ok me going at 7.45 as M&S close at 9pm in Westfield. He came at 7.30pm so off I trotted to get the bus. After a half an hour wait I eventually got the bus. Luckily, it is not that far to Westfield. Went steaming in there (oh wait, I forgot to say about my loose knickers and loose trousers! So I had a hand in my pocket, hoiking them up!). For some reason - ok I had not been to Westfield for a while- but I completely forgot where M&S was. I was going mad in there. Eventually found it.

I was going there specifically for the meal deal with wine so it had to be M&S. The cashier asked if I was alright. I took it that I looked like a mad woman, hair flying, eyes bulging, but I think she said it to everyone. Phew!

I was so hungry that I got a box of their chips. That was twice in one day I had chips! I also got a rash of small spots up my arm later but not sure what caused that (maybe a chips overdose??)

Palm oil?
Squirrel26 · 16/10/2020 08:51

It’s quite cold in my office. I’ve put the fan heater on.

MissConductUS · 16/10/2020 09:20

It's unseasonably warm here this morning, about 18 degrees, and it's almost the new moon. So it will be a sweaty, dark run.

I'm WFH today. The HVAC technician is coming today to service the furnace. He also has to separate the central AC system into pieces so that he can come back in a week and determine which coil is leaking and needs to be replaced. That's going to be expensive. Fortunately, the parts are still under warranty but we pay the labor.

I may well go to Primark tomorrow and buy knickers in a size smaller. Their 18/20 are too big for me. So if I buy the 14/16 and they FIT, I might well be tempted to board a double decker, go upstairs (I normally don't do bus stairs) and yell into a megaphone " These are size 14/16 knickers I am wearing, I 'll have you know". Well, the people must be told.

If they don't fit, I am going to keep very quiet...

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/10/2020 09:25

My free day today.
I already did some housework and will have my monthly massage - against migraines - before I started them I needed lots more painkillers.

Tonightstheteriyakichicken · 16/10/2020 09:32

Getting our hedges cut, the smell of 2 stroke reminds DH of his first motorbike.

Orangeblossom7777 · 16/10/2020 12:10

I was asked to order some new jogging bottoms from the school uniform shop for the DCs to wear over their PE shorts. Expensive and with school logo

Now I have bought them they are not wearing them and just wearing the shorts. (Oddly, with blazers on top as apparently this is what the others do)

Orangeblossom7777 · 16/10/2020 12:13

Bins are a source of drama here. The council gave us all special black tough covers with velcro to protect against the seagulls, each with the house number on

Despite this the basement flat thinks ours belongs to them and keep stealing it. I have had to ask the council to bring more. But it will be awkward as when it arrives it will be clear it has their flat on it and not ours and will need to swap
