Still no sign of the deck washers.

Spudlet · 14/10/2020 19:15

DS wanted me to read his story tonight! Normally he demands DH, to the point of wrestling half-finished books from my hands and throwing me out of the rocking chair as soon as he hears DH coming through the door. But tonight it was me!

I feel all warm and squishy Blush

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/10/2020 19:23

I just calmy and mindlessly ate a pack of nippons because they were there. I can rebalance the calories, but I am supposed to be the adult here.

Orangeblossom7777 · 14/10/2020 20:10

Here DH has done some descaler on the kettle, shower and sinks so they look all shiny and clean

He also got some new rubber tap things as well as the old ones were loose and used to fall off mid-stream which was annoying. So that is a relief.

PracticingPerson · 14/10/2020 20:14

I do love reading these threads Smile

BlackberrySky · 14/10/2020 20:18

I tried pilates for the first time today. It's harder than I thought!

BillywigSting · 14/10/2020 20:18

I made a cheats roast dinner (chicken breasts in foil and frozen everything else) that was not the most delicious roast I've ever had but it was nice enough and very easy.

I put ds to bed and have done the dishes. Dp is a stonker of a mood so I'm hiding upstairs brushing my hair before I get a nice long hot shower. It'll save me a bit of time tomorrow when I have to be out of the door at 7:30am. I'm on the nursing floor this week and looking forward to it like a hole in the head quite frankly.

I have another load of washing to come out of the machine but I might just rinse it and hang it in the morning like a slattern.

Tonightstheteriyakichicken · 14/10/2020 20:22

We moved our rectangular kitchen table round today, so we now look at a different part of the kitchen when we sit down. Wacky, eh.

Imissmoominmama · 14/10/2020 20:23

I find these threads soothing- thank you.

I made some brownies earlier; they aren’t as moist as usual.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/10/2020 20:26

You still have not explained about Christmas cake? I need to google, don't I?

It has stopped raining.

Spudlet · 14/10/2020 20:36
**@Prokupatuscrakedatus You start it early so you can feed it - poke holes in it with a skewer and pour brandy over it. Twice a week for several months. And the fruit is soaked in brandy before it’s baked. You keep it wrapped in baking paper in a tin while you do it, and it matures and soaks up all the booze until it’s just gorgeous. And boozy, did I mention boozy?

Basically, if you aren’t a teeny bit over the limit after a slice, it’s no Christmas cake of mine Grin
@Prokupatuscrakedatus Smile

Basically, more time = more brandy in the cake Wink

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/10/2020 20:51

@spudlet

So it is a richly and elaborately decorated very very very very drunk fruitcake? Do you have to keep childeren away from it?
Where do you keep it all the time?

I remember my gran giving us the fruit from 'rumtopf', because it was fruit and fruit is healthy.

forgetthehousework · 14/10/2020 20:52

Thinking about going to bed and watching TV.

At the moment we are working our way through 'Fear the Walking Dead' - no chance of that being too exciting for this thread; most episodes so far the only thing to fear is boredom while the characters talk endlessly. We keep hoping it will get better as we really enjoyed 'The Walking Dead' ... no spoilers please we haven't seen the last season yet.
I miss Rick!

Spudlet · 14/10/2020 20:55

Lol, mine are more messily than elaborately decorated, but essentially yes! I never much liked it as a child anyway, I think most children just pick the icing and marzipan off and leave the cake. It just lives in a tin - traditionally, once you’ve stuffed enough brandy in, you cover it in marzipan and then royal icing, which sets hard and preserves it. It doesn’t tend to last very long in our house because DH loves it, but you use the same recipe for traditional wedding cakes and you’re supposed to keep the top tier and eat it on your first wedding anniversary - it really keeps well (although not sure I’d fancy it after a whole year!).

soddingkitten · 14/10/2020 20:56

Lovely bright autumn day here. I enjoyed the walk to work and back.

We had Dominos pizza for tea (dinner) because I developed a serious case of the fuckits after 6 hours on blasted Zoom.

Sodding is very cuddly today, though DS2 is getting all the love just now.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/10/2020 21:00

I see, and I didn't know that it was that kind of cake they talk about in books. Now it all makes sense (slightly excited). Thank you!

soddingkitten · 14/10/2020 21:01

I made my own wedding cake. I fed it so much brandy in the run up to our wedding, it was squelchy in the middle. 😆 Fortunately we didn’t have too many guests and it was a huge cake, so I cut from the edges for our guests and we finished up the soused middle afterwards.

Angelik · 14/10/2020 21:02

I was looking fwd to going to sainsbury at7pm. Car wldn't start. Had to come indoors. Dd 7 was pleased though as I got to sit with her whilst she had bath.

I also scooped 3 lots of cat shit out of litter tray today.

vanillandhoney · 14/10/2020 21:05

Today I found that if you eat pasta out of a sports direct mug instead of a bowl, you can sit and stuff your face on the sofa without the bowl burning your lap.

IamnotaStepfordHousewife · 14/10/2020 21:06

I'm eating a bowl of Tesco's finest red berries special flakes before a hot shower and bed. Might treat myself to unloading the dishwasher as well!!! Grin

BillywigSting · 14/10/2020 21:27

I've just had a packet of wotsits.

I'm a little cheesed off. Dp came upstairs at about 9pm. Still in his awful humour. I wanted to chill on my bed for a bit before getting an early night but I'm not sitting with him while he's got such a face on him.

So I'm sitting downstairs silently seething. And not nearly as comfortable as I wanted to be.

PersisFord · 14/10/2020 21:37

The kids and I have decided to make chocolate ice cream on Saturday so I’ve added some cream and condensed milk to the Sainsbury’s order. Unless the weather is dreadful we will never get around to doing this, but if that happens I will just freeze the cream and use it for something near Christmas.

On the Christmas cake theme, I always find it quite disappointing because royal icing isn’t really very nice to eat

Trailing1 · 14/10/2020 21:39

Tried to put both kids in the same bed tonight. Failed miserably and its now far too late for me to enjoy any sort of me time this evening.

ladybee28 · 14/10/2020 21:41

DDog was sitting on the living room floor staring into space and very quietly crying under his breath.

Worried, I went closer to see what was wrong - and walked directly into the ripest cloud of fart I've ever smelled.

I nearly cried too.

That's hilarious!
