Seems to have shut up shop as from this morning.

Is that the one where people kept spamming all the boards on MN to drum up business and "poach " people, with a "come to our forum instead , it's biggerer and betterer and MN smells anyway?!" Grin
Yeah, no, I stayed out of that one for reasons already mentioned above and sounded like a complete bitchy hell hole lol.

I continued on here but liked the small community and genuine support people gave on there. I guess the small community isn’t viable though.

I did think it was bad that as soon as adverts arrived someone said they had installed an adblocker.

Divgirl, if you see this, I hope MrD passing is as smooth as it can be, and send you to of love. I hope you find support on here or elsewhere.

Everybody else, it was nice knowing you all, I hope we meet again.

Whereas on MN one finds oneself trippng over shit-stirring liars.

I can't get worked up about people lying on the internet Grin

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 11/10/2020 13:46

Why do people who dislike Mumsnet so much that they slag it off, then go and post on other sites, come back here at all? Really bad form.

I think HokeyWokey is right and I hope that MNHQ are laughing their heads off.

picklemewalnuts · 11/10/2020 13:46

I didn't see all the abuse being mentioned. I did see two simultaneous threads, one commenting how many overweight people were on MN, another how many obsessive 1 lettuce leaf a day types are on MN, and both apparently unaware of the other's existence.

I stayed well away from anything partisan- it's never unbiased, by definition. I'm so middle of the road, I'm uncomfortable everywhere!

There were some lovely people, and I hope I see some of them elsewhere.

Marg33t · 11/10/2020 13:47

I'm not surprised, it started off well but was taken over by a few who thought they ran it who winged and moaned mostly about Meghan and Mumsnet. Their message says it wasn't growing so I guess those few there were chasing away

froggygoneacourting · 11/10/2020 13:49

That's the forum that allowed (even encouraged) overt racism and racist bullying and spied on Mumsnet threads in order to bash and mock Mumsnetters. Posters there talked about how Mumsnet was being "taken over by blacks", discussed the best tactics to get black posters banned and deleted, bragged about making malicious false reports on Mumsnet in order to "fool those gullible wokesters in MNHQ", and one of them even photoshopped a fake DM conversation in order to try to con MNHQ into believing that the poster who lobbied for MN to have a Black section was a previously banned poster.

I'm sure there were plenty of sections and threads that contained nice, normal chat and supportive conversations, and plenty of posters who never went into the racist threads. But how anyone can be a member of a site that openly espouses white supremacist views is beyond me.

I'm cackling gleefully that it's closed. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

SimonJT · 11/10/2020 13:49

@Janegrey333 Lota of them liked it, some also made plans to create a fake MN account pretending to be a black user so they could prove that all black people hate white people. They also used it to bully by using a slightly changed version of a MNers username.

picklemewalnuts · 11/10/2020 13:49

I'd like to point out that a few people on each site behave badly. Don't mistake bad behaviour from a few as the defining characteristic of everyone else.

If Moomin or Div are about, 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻

picklemewalnuts · 11/10/2020 13:50

That racism is disgusting- was it reported? I would have, if I'd seen anything like that.

Anyone objecting to and reporting the racism was chased off and then banned.
derxa · 11/10/2020 13:52

I agree, I just used it to chat on, I've always been on both sites. Mumsnet is much bigger, but the user interface is a bit old fashioned.
Yes

Shock

If that's true good riddance to bad rubbish and I'm glad it's one less shit pit on the internet.

GeorgeMichaelsEspadrille · 11/10/2020 13:53

I had a brief look at MC to see what the fuss was about.

It seemed to be full of people who had never really fitted in anywhere and had found their tribe.

I'm sure not all of it was so depressing.

Anyone who reported it was kicked off.
picklemewalnuts · 11/10/2020 13:54

While criticising MM can be racist, it isn't necessarily racist. Are you saying above and beyond MM threads there was overt racism?

WolffromTheWest · 11/10/2020 13:56

It was alright actually. Generally kinder and more willing to hear The Other Side out then here at any rate.

picklemewalnuts · 11/10/2020 13:56

We are living in bad times for clannish finger pointing and witch burning. Or perhaps I should say a boom time! I've never known everywhere so much like a powder keg.

Saucery · 11/10/2020 13:56

The B&W Minstrels picture as an illustration of Mumsnet due to the new section?
I don’t see how that wasn’t overt racism tbh.

If you reported you were kicked off. Thier MM and Justine thread were absolutely vile. An adoption forum I’m on posted a few screen shots. A great number of posts if linked to the real life person were bad enough to lead to dismissal. Thats the level of racism we’re talking about.
GetOffYourHighHorse · 11/10/2020 13:57

Whether you liked it or loathed it what a very weird admin to just suddenly close it without a courtesy heads up.

oakleaffy · 11/10/2020 13:57

@LetsBounce

Don't forget to let Pistonheads know too.
Pistonheads referred to MN a fair bit during a controversial Court case a few years back. They see us as ''The Enemy'' I think... Who are over- emotional , compared to their cool, rational, scientific, ''Right Brain'' approach to things.
froggygoneacourting · 11/10/2020 13:57

The difference between MN and the other site is that MN has a report system and set of rules and guidelines, and they explicitly ban racism. Is their system perfect? No, but at least they have one. The other site didn't have any rules and barely had any moderation.

There's also something very distasteful about setting up a forum to troll another forum you've been banned from. The PBP creating new accounts here in order to spam and promote their new forum (both by starting threads promoting themselves, and by directly DMing people going "check out my new forum, it's the new Mumsnet but better") crossed a line.

If they wanted to be rid of MN and set up a new forum, why not just go off and do that? Why the fixation on trying to steal posters from MN, monitoring what's said on MN, trying to control what happens on MN, interfering in MN moderation?

It's like a husband who gets a new girlfriend after his wife kicks him to the curb, talks about how his new girlfriend is so much better and hotter than his ex, but still spends every second stalking his ex-wife.

Devlesko · 11/10/2020 13:58

I've never heard of it.
