Seems to have shut up shop as from this morning.

@WolffromTheWest

Someone put a minstrels photo on and from what I could see was absolutely pulled up and told off for it. They apologised. Nobody acknowledged it as anything but racism and it was made clear that it was completely unacceptable. I wasn't on there much tbh but it was alright, not the hotbed of vicious racism that is being claimed on this thread by certain posters that that site was set up in a direct response to.
The Post wasn't deleted though. You cannot run a site without some sort of moderation. If the Admin gets over her strop, she needs to put a couple of mods on that site.
Janegrey333 · 11/10/2020 14:30

@Howzaboutye

Can we make a new thread on here to keep chatting in? Gosh. I'll still think about folk on there and wonder how they were getting on. Fare ye well all
Doubtful that would be permitted. What a silly thing to ask.

@Hobnobswantshernameback

Isn't that the site mainly inhabited by racist Meghan Markle hating nut jobs If so it won't be a great loss to humanity
Yep. It is a shame as they'll probably come spewing their alt right racist shit here again.
Roussette · 11/10/2020 14:31

Mummyoflittledragon
How did I know what? Sorry, not being snippy here, I posted a long post so not sure which bit you mean
Smile

Neacy · 11/10/2020 14:31

I never saw any racism or anyone trying to outdo anyone, just a small group of women, that liked to chat.

I didn’t see any bullying, but then I never went on threads that didn’t interest me, so could

I just find women not being nice to each other very upsetting, there is room for everyone on every site, your choice to stay or leave.

I have grown up, it was a godsend in lockdown to me.

Cyber mates certainly, I laughed a lot and hopefully I made a few people chuckle and smile.

If it’s gone it’s gone.

Shannith · 11/10/2020 14:33

@LanaDelBoy who would have thought it?

It's quite amusing really. Where will the moaners go to vent at people either trying to do their jobs or trying to set up on their own.

Or will the moaners start up their own ever more exclusive forum to prove a point, try to moderate/admin it and get attacked by another group of moaners until they give up. So the hardcore moaners will set up their own over more exclusive forums and get attacked and give up...

and so on until it's about 3 people wailing into the ether like middle class banshees.

New scapegoats needed.

Neacy · 11/10/2020 14:33

Well it seems to have gone again.

TheSeedsOfADream · 11/10/2020 14:34

You didn't look very far.
I had a look through the threads precisely twice, felt sullied and like I needed to detox my soul.
Nasty racist corner of the internet.

Roussette · 11/10/2020 14:34

@Quaagars
You can laugh, and I can .... now!
'Tis true.
And utterly ridiculous. And I did feel it was all getting worse.

Janegrey333 · 11/10/2020 14:35

To the person who wanted to be directed to it.

The site has been closed. Read the title.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 11/10/2020 14:38

I'm really sorry to hear about that, Rousette. I know that Mumsnet has its faults but it feels like a good site, one that I can find a space on - and know that the admins won't tolerate abuse of members like that. What happened to you is appalling.

I think most if not all sites set up by disgruntled former members carry on with their noses pressed up on the window looking in. It's sad.

Roussette · 11/10/2020 14:38

^This. Whilst they talked over there about how they were 'self moderating' and they sorted out their spats without needing to be moderated... well, that's OK as long as you fell in line with the majority. I

I was a mod on a forum once. It was flippin' hard work, you can't please all the people all the time, but in the end, whatever the mod says, goes.

And every forum needs moderation, whether that's a light touch, or not, it is needed

Who was that directed at?
slithytoveisascientist · 11/10/2020 14:41

I have to say I am surprised - whenever I posted there I always felt as though I was spoken to pleasantly as one might in person.

Yet even in this thread it feels as though the Ron is nasty, snippy, impatient and just not a pleasant vibe. And that is the feeling I get across a lot of mumsnet.

slithytoveisascientist · 11/10/2020 14:42

The tone not Ron. Oh to be able to edit.

Roussette · 11/10/2020 14:42

Lying
Thank you. Yes it was pretty horrible and please bear in mind, I am underplaying it. It became a sport over there to be honest and was absolutely relentless at times, I'd be here all night if I listed all the names I was called, a complete character assassination.

Now I know I could just not look and often I didn't, but then I'd peek in and see it still going on, even when I wasn't posting here.

At least on MN posters can feel safe because there is moderation and checking up on PBPs, sock puppets etc.

Therebythedoor · 11/10/2020 14:44

I'm sad it has gone. It felt more kind in general than some forums on here. And I wish it were still around. We were lucky to have it while we did.

WolffromTheWest · 11/10/2020 14:44

Agree.

Janegrey333 · 11/10/2020 14:44

@Marisishidinginmyattic

I reckon whoever runs it received one moaning message too many and just thought FUCK IT.
I think you’re right. There were a number of busybodies there from the start, it seems. They might have been responsible for the deluge of complaints to Admin.

'think most if not all sites set up by disgruntled former members carry on with their noses pressed up on the window looking in. It's sad.'

Indeed. I have my very own fan club on another site . My every utterances are commented on. Yet strangely if you turn the tables they cannot cope at all.

Janegrey333 · 11/10/2020 14:46

They could not compete with a big, busy site like this one. Amazing the person who set it up didn’t understand that.

OP posts:
RoisinD · 11/10/2020 14:48

Interesting how some didn't witness what was obvious to many

Saucery · 11/10/2020 14:48

As an offshoot of Tattle, wasn’t the idea that if it took off and became popular it could pay its own way or something?

amusedtodeath1 · 11/10/2020 14:49

The responses are snippy because members of that site caused problems here and now they come back here to complain that that site is gone!

What did you expect, sympathy?

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 11/10/2020 14:50

Roussette, you were on the receiving end of appalling comments. It was so strange though, as they were often interspersed with comments about how 'nice' everyone was. It really was as if some had lost all sense of how unpleasant they were being targeting you and others.
