A strange cat has just climbed into my bedroom

I'm in bed happily reading my book and a cat has just climbed through the window and settled down on my feet.
Neither of our neighbours have a cat. I have no idea where it's from.
It's a very pretty cat so I think I will let it stay, at least until dh comes up and throws it out.

This is not my cat... we aren't sure whose cat he actually is, but we started feeding him a year ago when he was in a dreadful state.. skeletal and injured. I took him to the vets (no chip) and had him patched up and neutered, and now he visits 3 times a day for meals but sleeps outside in a hutch my dh built! Now and again he comes in for a few minutes but doesn;t stay.

Meanwhile one of MY cats..my expensive Maine Coon has decided life is better 4 doors down and has moved in with our elderly neighbour who is home all day and hand feeds him deli ham!!! Ungrateful git...

@QueenPaws
Thanks for the update!
They both are gorgeous
If you've put up a Christmas tree, are they trying to climb it and entertain themselves by throwing your priceless glass baubles around?

@Sweetpea1532 I haven't got one up! Mine isn't bothered but not my cat is like a walking catastrophe Grin

Ellmau · 12/12/2020 21:54

There's news story about a NotMyCat who turned out to have a home hundreds of miles away, to which he has now been returned: www.lincolnshirelive.co.uk/news/local-news/skegness-lost-cat-reunited-heartbreak-4788175

My neighbours have a young girl cat the same age as my little boy cat, they're best friends and play together at night. They have a microchip cat flap, but my little monster has learnt how to tailgate her in, and they've found him asleep on their sofa several times, which entertained them. But they don't let their cats upstairs at night, and the door at the bottom of the stairs keeps theirs downstairs - but not my boy! He's worked out how to open the door and scared them both to death one night by jumping on their bed.... I still chuckle when I remember 😹

Sweetpea1532 · 13/12/2020 03:57

@Queenpaws
Your cat sounds very patient with Not her cat either!
What kind of catastrophes has NMC caused? I love stories about funny things cats can get up to!

Like @minniemoll posted about her little boy....ha, minnie..sounds like he's showing off for his little girlfriend. He sounds spookily smart! I'm chuckling too about him scaring your neighbours to death one night...I bet they weren't quite so amused thoughGrin

rubydoobydoo · 13/12/2020 04:01

We only have one ginger cat.

Thanks for that wonderful "lost then found" cat story @Ellmau
It was heartwarming...and I love that his owner never gave up hope...I'm afraid I would have thought he was no longer alive from a car or another animal.

Sweetpea1532 · 13/12/2020 04:09

@rubydoobydoo
There IS only one ginger cat in that picture...you must be seeing double...just uncross your eyes and things will be back to normal, dear.
LOL! How long has the ginger NotYourCat been visiting? It knew you liked gingers so it picked you out specially

Sweetpea1532 · 13/12/2020 04:11

@rubydoobydoo
Which one is yours? They both are so lovely! Thank you for the photoFlowers

rubydoobydoo · 13/12/2020 04:28

Our actual cat is the one at the back, the other one is meant to live next door but is really good at looking starving and pitiful outside our patio door until we relent and let him in. He's been visiting for the last couple of years now and the neighbours suspect he is doing the same to a house at the back Grin
This is his poor starving cat face.

We had a black and white ultra fluffy cat that was best mates with next doors ginger cat.next door often found them both curled up asleep in her bed(or her recycling box out back if couldn't get in) he was also find of a nap on fluffy throw on sofa 4doors down.once a month he came in on Saturday mornings with red lipstick marks on back of his neck...

I had a cat wander into mine "quacking" many years ago.wasnt fazed by my DD or her 4 preschool friends noise.local cat lady had never seen him before.i took vets and discovered he had vocal nodules.after few treatments and surgery he stopped qua cking.vet reckoned he had been dumped far from home as was going to need lots of care.he was a beautiful natured cat and it was my pleasure to have him as part of our lives

MessAllOver · 13/12/2020 05:45

Before we lived together, I used to visit DH who was studying for professional qualifications. He was in the attic flat. Turned out he'd lured the downstairs cat up to his flat by sharing his ham to keep him company while studying. Periodically, the owners would come to retrieve their cat, sandwiched between us on the sofa Blush. DH was most put out when they moved out and took the cat with them! We moved in together soon afterwards and I've often wondered if I was the cat's replacement...

Awww look at his little face! Awwww
Strawberrycreamsundae · 13/12/2020 07:02

We’re no longer owned by cats.
My DH was fortunately on the loo when a neighbour’s Siamese cat came through the window. To this day we have no idea how it got onto a narrow first floor window ledge!
Our last cat got himself adopted by neighbours four doors down; he was a first class con merchant and it was sometime before we twigged who his latest victim was!

Maddiemademe · 13/12/2020 07:18

Lol, one of our cats (we have 4) just let’s himself into all of our neighbours homes. One of our next door neighbours have 2 cats themselves and he lets himself in their cat flap and eats their food.

Daisy is the black and white one. His sister Izzy lives on my shoulders whenever I am at my desk and will balance there for over an hour. Cats are great 👍🏻

@rubydoobydoo that is a fantastic starving "let me in now pleeease" cat face! Love it.

QueenPaws · 13/12/2020 09:58

@Sweetpea1532 where to start
Destroyed my glass fairy lights
He bin dives like a raccoon
They argue like brothers (my cat shoves him out the window, not my cat then whacks him over the head)

Sweetpea1532 · 13/12/2020 16:51

Oh @Queenpaws I love it!!!
Always entertaining you, then?🤣
How did NMC not get zapped by the fairy lights🙀⚡⚡⚡⚡ like the cat in our family's all time favorite Christmas film " Christmas Vacation " with Chevy Chase? The little stinker!

QueenPaws · 13/12/2020 17:08

@Sweetpea1532 here is my cat smacking not my cat 🙄

@QueenPaws Not your cat looks most put out by that totally unprovoked attack! Grin

QueenPaws · 13/12/2020 19:44

@rubydoobydoo they're like squabbling siblings sometimes Grin

Sweetpea1532 · 14/12/2020 03:11

@Queenpaws
Thank you for the videos..I must admit that I enjoyed the one with the swat out the window so much that I watched several more. You all look very content there together. I'm glad you have them for company..especially now with covid19...aren't animals just the best?!

Sweetpea1532 · 14/12/2020 03:28
