A strange cat has just climbed into my bedroom

I'm in bed happily reading my book and a cat has just climbed through the window and settled down on my feet.
Neither of our neighbours have a cat. I have no idea where it's from.
It's a very pretty cat so I think I will let it stay, at least until dh comes up and throws it out.

Love it. I had a call from next door neighbour last month as Ivycat had taken up residence on her bed and was swiping her every time she tried to move her!

QueenPawPaws · 06/01/2021 20:11

Oh he managed to untangle himself to smack my cat on the head Hmm

FernieB · 06/01/2021 20:23

Love this thread. We have a NMC daily visitor. He does a great 'never been fed' face, comes in, has one biscuit then settles down in front of the french doors to watch the bird table. He lives next door and started visiting during the summer when their second dog arrived and we'd left the back doors open so it was easy to get in.

Years ago when my boys were still young they were doing the whole “ can we get a kitten” routine, we considered it for an xmas suprise, i had a fantasy of bringing down a kitten in a box for them after presents were done but commonsense prevailed, we couldnt look after it properly really and travelled a lot and having had a cat adopt us pre kids we knew the heartache of losing one. Sat at the dinner table enjoying xmas dinner, door slightly open as it was a nice day and kitchen was steamed up when in wanders a random cat that we had never seen around the neighbourhood. It stayed all day until we put it out at bedtime then next day it turned up again, and again every day for four months! We never fed it and put it outevery night, we went on holiday and the paperboy told us it sat on the doorstep every day 😟 when we got home it had gone and we never saw it again.
Also one day ds2 was very poorly and off school just lying under a duvet on the sofa, another random unknown cat came in and snuggled with him all day never seen again after that day, i think it knew he needed the cuddles.

This used to happen at our last house - the cat was really fancy. A lilac Burmese. She looked so posh.

Our standard moggy was furious.

That's a nice back photo of the cat on your bed, he or she,was looking for a nice B&B for the night,so will need some nice brekky in the morning.

I have three cats and they sleep on the end of my bed every night, but some times I have a spare cat,who comes through the cat flap in the night, and I find it asleep on the sofa downstairs later.

lillylemons · 13/05/2021 02:15

We had a cat when I was growing up and one day the elderly lady next door popped round to see my Mum because she was concerned that my Mum was not feeding the cat because the cat would go to her house every day for Tuna. The cat was just a greedy cat because she would eat the food we put out and also steal the dogs' food then head to the neighbours for her daily tuna.

Hollyhobbi · 13/05/2021 02:17

These are our kittens though

And yes the tabby sleeps on top of the tuxie! But the tuxie hogs all the food on the tabby so they're even😂

SarahBellam · 13/05/2021 02:38

Congratulations, OP. You’re a Catmom now.

This reminds me of a Long running Twitter thread a few years ago. An owner had long suspected his cat of playing away. and then one day it came home in a full on Christmas outfit!

Sweetpea1532 · 13/05/2021 02:42

@QueenPaws
Thank you so much for the update... was Ollie happy to see NMC?
I love all the other NMCs too.
I want an NMC so much....all I get is ground squirrels!Hmm

I hope you skin issue is holding steady and not returning stillFlowers

Sweetpea1532 · 13/05/2021 02:44

@Hollyhobbi
I'll take NMC off your hands!
Your 2 little ones are adorableFlowers

Ralphiemia · 13/05/2021 03:35

Loving the badass attitude said my cat grumpy Mia. If my DH and I ever get a bit amorous she gets in the middle of the bed and won’t move, hence her nickname “Hairy Whitehouse”

@sweetpea1532 we do know who owns her. She pretends to be hungry so my dds leave her out food! Our kittens have had their op so they are starting to go outside now but they are not impressed with the amount if adults cats that live near us and are twice their size😂

Sweetpea1532 · 13/05/2021 06:04

@Hollyhobbi
Awww, your little kittens are too cute....I bet your family is having lots of fun playing with them.
My sister had a NMC bring her 5 kittens to her doorstep. After several weeks mummy cat decided she'd done her job and ran away, leaving DSis with the kittens...one didn't make it but the other 4 are doing great..2 tuxies and two tabbies. Dsis is allergic to cats😂

Waitingfirgodot · 13/05/2021 07:27

We have a day cat (acquired in a perfectly normal manner) and a night cat, who hangs out downstairs when he thinks everyone is in bed. Occassionally he times it wrong and looks most put out to find people in his house.
