A strange cat has just climbed into my bedroom

I'm in bed happily reading my book and a cat has just climbed through the window and settled down on my feet.
Neither of our neighbours have a cat. I have no idea where it's from.
It's a very pretty cat so I think I will let it stay, at least until dh comes up and throws it out.

Actually @bebarkered that does sound like something I used to know! He was pretty scrawny when he started coming round but maybe we’ve fed him so much that the worms can’t keep up. His tummy is really taught feeling which is why I thought worms but maybe he’s just a greedy bugger Grin

sueelleker · 08/10/2020 19:46

@Lobsterquadrille2; I think you caught her about to scratch the carpet.

I once had a cat join me on my bed, although it was 4am and I was fast asleep. It jumped on me from its resting place in my inbuilt wardrobe/cupboard. The same cat woke me with a hideous scraping sound when it pooed in my bath. I don't have a cat and it seems to have stopped since we got a terrier puppy 😆

bebarkered · 08/10/2020 21:18

Yes LoungeLizardLhama, the kitty will be loving what you're feeding him 😁😁😁

These stories of random pussycats muscling in on strange households remind me of a bird story I once read about. A woman had moved into an apartment with a balcony and had bought a couple of big terracotta plant pots to put on it. Having put the pots out our resident went out for the day. When she returned, she found a pair of feral pigeons had declared one of the pots their new residence and were busy building a nest within! I believe they were allowed to staySmile.

For years now my colleague has regularly posted photos of a lovely black and white cat sleeping in front of his fire, curled up on a sun lounger in his garden or climbing on him while he does yoga.

He does not own a cat Grin

Magnificentbeast · 09/10/2020 07:37

My cat disappeared over night once. We're very careful about bringing her in at night so I was worried.

I got a call from my elderly neighbour the next morning to say that my cat was with him. He had gone up to bed the night before and there she was on his bed settled in for the night.

When I went to knock on the door she was sat inside the front window meowing at me as if she had been kidnapped!

nosswith · 09/10/2020 07:57

So has the cat left now?

TheSockMonster · 09/10/2020 09:27

We have a visiting cat. She turned up in our garden about 3 years ago demanding fuss and attention, slipping into our house if any windows or doors were opened.

She used to visit our back garden daily, meowing loudly at the sitting room doors until we either let her in or came out to see her. Then we got a dog so she sticks to the front garden now.

She’s very well looked after by her owners, but they are out during the day whereas I work from home. I think she’s still a bit put out that we got a dog because she used to like sitting on my desk in the winter.

She is owned by a neighbour of sorts (about 1/2 mile away) and I repay the favour by going round to their house and feeding her when they go on holiday.

overnightangel · 09/10/2020 09:31

Where’s the cat now, @Jjacobb?

Lobsterquadrille2 · 09/10/2020 13:41

@sueelleker definitely! She likes plucking anything apart from the redundant scratching post.

QueenOllie · 09/10/2020 23:19

Not my cat is pretending to be a statue so I don't notice him

I think you need to give up on the “not” my cat now Grin

You have a new cat

BovaryX · 10/10/2020 07:34

Not My Cat has obviously decided life with House Queen is preferable to his current digs. He is a lovely looking cat.....

Agwen · 10/10/2020 08:44

I am so envious, I have never had a visiting cat and feel rather shunned.

MyActualCat does like a wander round the neighbourhood and I have a feeling she is being fed and fussed by my elderly, cat-loving neighbours. I often hear them talking to her from their back door when she's out on one of her constitutionals.

@SeasonallySnowyPeasant

Puss. This is her sulking after MIL picked her up from the cattery after a weekend away.

Where's your photo OP?!

@SeasonallySnowyPeasant that doll is just like one I had as a child. I knew the lady who made them. Can you ask MiL about it?
SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 10/10/2020 09:24

It's a call very for an upright vacuum cleaner. Really freaked me out the first time I stayed over and saw a girl staring at me from a dark corner!

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 10/10/2020 09:24

Call very = cover!

MsChatterbox · 10/10/2020 09:36

This looks a lot like my cats bum are you in the Peak District? Grin

QueenOllie · 10/10/2020 10:12

@Soubriquet it's been about 2 years now. He's still not mine Grin

AuditAngel · 10/10/2020 10:16

When I moved into my first house with my ex, I was asked to take in a cat from another area who was not being cared for properly. One day my (fairly new) ndn popped over to ask me about Fred. He was a beautiful long haired moggy, mainly black with a white bib and socks.

She had 2 Persians a male called Fred! And an unneutered female. She just wanted to check he had been neutered. As he had, she was happy for him to visit.

My Fred also answered to Fat Boy, whilst hers answered to Fat Git!

The boys often visited each other, often hiding from the female when she wanted “servicing”

slipperywhensparticus · 10/10/2020 10:21

I took a nap one day woke up to two not my cats plus my cats all napping with me one on my head one in my arms the rest draped around me in varying comatose positions
