A strange cat has just climbed into my bedroom

I'm in bed happily reading my book and a cat has just climbed through the window and settled down on my feet.
Neither of our neighbours have a cat. I have no idea where it's from.
It's a very pretty cat so I think I will let it stay, at least until dh comes up and throws it out.

My childhood cat used to visit neighbours more than 10 doors away. He used to sit with one woman while she was in the bath.

Sunnydaysstillhere · 10/10/2020 10:44

As a dc we had a lovely dcat. My dm's bf never knew we had a dcat as he hated them.
Every night dm let dcat in via my bedroom window.. He slept on my bed. When the bf went to work dcat had the run of our flat. Went on for years...

My parents have 2 black cats, one of them is Cosmo. One day me and my mum were sat eating and I heard a little meow and thought that doesn't sound like Cosmo, who was hovering around us. Then I looked and saw Cosmo sat outside the back door! Looked back down and realised the cat inside wasn't one of ours! I just jumped up and shouted 'that's not our cat!' this other black cat in the street quite often comes over to visit but must've snuck in at some point and just been hovering around us. We were laughing for ages afterwards and that cat is now called Not Cosmo Grin.

Queen

Does he get in thru cat flap? He really is a handsome fellow. He looks perfectly at home...

QueenOllie · 12/10/2020 12:33

@BovaryX the window! It's open for my cat and I also like it open because I'm WFH so fresh air. He's just popped in again now, patted my cat on the head and gone back out

BovaryX · 12/10/2020 12:46

Bless him! He is a legend. I have a black and white who just appeared one day at the back door next to my black cat. Five years later he is still here....

LomasLongstrider · 13/10/2020 11:17

A pic of sink cat (as per my post a while back).

I have to do my dishes again now she's clambered over/through them, but she's so cute/sweet I don't mind Grin

He's prowling along there like he owns the place.

QueenOllie · 16/10/2020 14:58

@TheSpottedZebra this is his third visit today Confused

TheSpottedZebra · 16/10/2020 15:06

What a busy chap!
There is a New Cat in my street with a tracker on his collar. He seems to do the same route on a loop over and over so I wonder what his owners see when they track him.

TheSpottedZebra · 16/10/2020 15:07

Well I presume it's a collar.
He could be on a tag.

Our old ndn had a cat which would come into our house. I used to feed him when they went on holiday. One time DH and I came back from a meal out for our Anniversary to be greeted by said cat when we opened the door. Have no idea how or when he got in. Also its successor also liked to come in. One morning I was woken by something and when I looked under the wardrobe he was staring back at me. He had come in through the bedroom window. But he fell out with me one morning as I was hanging clothes on the line before work. It was still dark and I accidentally stood on him. He usually would have come and rubbed up against my leg when out at the line and this particular morning he made me jump.

Soubriquet · 16/10/2020 16:02

@QueenOllie

Still not my cat
When will you admit defeat and admit this is your cat? Grin
Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 16/10/2020 16:08

#thisisnotmycat in the kitchen this morning.

@QueenOllie - I really think that probably is your cat Grin.

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats good old TC he never gives up does he Grin

QueenOllie · 16/10/2020 19:15

@Soubriquet NEVER Grin
He doesn't ever stay, just wanders in and out. Occasionally pats my cat on the head or they play

QueenOllie · 16/10/2020 20:29

I have just noticed he is very precise with times Confused
He's been in today at 9.15, 12, 2.45pm and 8.30pm

Jjacobb · 16/10/2020 20:46

So many lovely cheeky cats.

I have an update.
Ds and his partner used to live a few doors away from us. The neighbour next door to them has lots of cats. She got our visitor a few months ago but apparently she hates other cats so started going into sons house and staying there.
Ds moved back here two weeks ago and the cat followed very quickly. She's made herself at home and loves nothing more than sitting on the conservatory roof and tormenting our dog.
She hates cuddles and is a terribly disdainful cat but we seem to be stuck with her.

He looks perfectly at home and matches the interior! Grumpy TC will never give up his concerted campaign!

This is not my cat and his friend. It’s too cold and I’m too tired to do anything about it

theThreeofWeevils · 26/10/2020 23:11

his reaction to seeing a human in the bath for the first time

"Why don't you just use your own spit, mate?"

vizlsapup · 26/10/2020 23:29

I have three cat stories (no pics).

In my first rented accommodation the neighbours cat would pop in daily. I once got a knock from the neighbour asking if I had been feeding it. I said no we hadn't at all (true) to which she continued to tell me that it was really bad to feed the cat because of blah, blah, blah. Keep your sodding cat in your own flat then Grin.

The second story, DF and partner got two cats, and when they split up partner got the cats. Sadly one went missing for several years. Until DF got a call from a vet to say they had a cat registered to his address. It was bought in with a problem by an elderly lady a few streets from DPs partner, who it turned out claimed it was hers. Obviously it wasn't to which she claimed she had been looking after it all these years. To which DF countered, er no if you had been looking after it you would have taken it to the vet for checkups. Bizarrely when I posted about it on FB the sway of opinion seemed to be letting her keep it. Not sure what happened in the end but delighted that Trixie was ok.

DPs new partner became the neighbourhood cat lady Grin. There were 1-2 inquisitive cats, which she started to buy treats for, then there were more....I did point out about not feeding someone else's cat, based on my earlier life experience, but fell on deaf ears.

JaJaDingDong · 26/10/2020 23:39

We once came home to find next door's cat sitting on our sofa. Our cat next to him the other end.

Our cat has a microchip controlled cat door but she's learned how to hold it open for next door's cat to get in.
