Just trying to live a meaningful life in an increasingly bizarre world in which nothing makes sense any more.

Spa day? I’ve never been on a spa day in my life 😂

I’m avoiding pubs, restaurants and leisure activities to reduce the risk of having to self isolate so I can continue to go to work in public service. For my mental health.

TabbyStar · 02/10/2020 17:45

Again, IMO, these threads are all about prioritising the poster’s leisure over the safety of teachers, doctors and nurses etc.

One person's leisure is another person's job and financial security or mental health 🤷🏻‍♀️.

On another note, John Lewis has done some particularly egregious covers, e.g. The Power of Love, which should only ever be sung by Holly Johnson, and Somewhere Only We Know.

Spa day? I’ve never been on a spa day in my life 😂

I once plucked up courage to book an Indian head massage at a spa thinking it would be like the mini head massage you get at the hair dressers when they wash your hair. It wasn't relaxing at all. Next time I should just pay my hair dresser a huge amount of money instead 😆

Beautiful sunny day and evening in Scotland. Frosty first thing but warmed up nicely.

justasking111 · 02/10/2020 17:50

Our town is broken today, lockdown in N. Wales. The cafes, restaurants empty, shop owners stayed closed it is just like the height of covid back in the spring. How Drakeford expects the people of the borough to keep things going when we had to sling out all the tourists, second home owners anyone who lives outside the county I have absolutely no idea.

DisgruntledGuineaPig · 02/10/2020 17:50

Did I miss the bit about breakfast in 5 star hotels?

That actually sounds like a fabulous idea. I've not been out for breakfast for ages! Dh has some time off coming up that matches my time off when my dcs are at school (the school I work in and my dcs schools half terms dont match, dh has taken their week off and half of mine). We have to pay the childminder the week im off for before school care anyway. We could drop them and then go for a fancy breakfast.

Yay, I can plan something in this plan-less year!

That'll be the far side of the 11+ when I no longer care if we catch it.

Unfortunately I think it's now a fried egg sandwich in a paper bag left outside your door whilst staff run away as fast as they can....

Willow2017 · 02/10/2020 18:09

Never had a spa day either nor stayed in a 5 star hotel! Obviously I am missing something here. Being able to think for yourself and not follow 'experts' who have got it spectacularly wrong every time they made predictions for years and years means i should be doing all those things. Who is gonna pay for it for me then? 🤔

Littlebelina · 02/10/2020 18:16

Oh, have I missed all the fun? That'll teach me for having a spa day sweating in a mask watching ds' swimming lessons

amicissimma · 02/10/2020 18:20

Looks like a bit of a result there.

ISaySteadyOn · 02/10/2020 18:22

I got my legs waxed a few times. Does that count?

I am feeling pleased with myself atm though. I pushed myself when running today and succeeded!

WouldBeGood · 02/10/2020 18:32

@justasking111 sounds so sad

DisgruntledGuineaPig · 02/10/2020 18:32

@justasking111 - that sounds terrible. Towns will have all independents gutted out. What are we doing to our society?

The scale of what we're prepared to throw away as if its nothing is insane to me.

WouldBeGood · 02/10/2020 18:32

My favourite hotel breakfasts are premier inn buffets. Now deceased because of Covid

WouldBeGood · 02/10/2020 18:33

Yeah, that might have been me mentioning going for breakfast with friends today. Except the Ned is a private members’ club, not a 5* hotel.
CruCru · 02/10/2020 18:42

Extremely delicious though.

Bollss · 02/10/2020 18:47

Mmmmm breakfast. I miss hotels. I miss normal life.

A couple of years ago I stayed in one to catch up with family. Cheap location, cheap late booking. Up to 2 DCs eat for free... My DCs can anihalate a buffet. Great value trip Grin
Willow2017 · 02/10/2020 19:01

My kids love a Premier Inn breakfast. They are like locusts😃 I do like them great value when you have kids and you can have stuff you would rarely bother with at home.

Reedwarbler · 02/10/2020 19:10

@JamSarnie I once had a head massage at a hotel spa on holiday in Tunisia. My hair, which was looking fantastic when I started, came out looking like it had been basted for the oven, it was so dripping with massage oil. Also, the massage was nothing like my hairdresser does, which is so soothing and dreamy; it was poky and hair pulley and really unpleasant. Never again. I then had to go to the hotel hairdresser to get all the bloody oil washed out and have it re-styled. That was an expensive morning.(Perhaps they were in cahoots!)

Bollss · 02/10/2020 19:18

Ooh I love a good foreign hotel buffet breakfast. Good excuse to eat cakes early morning because it's socially acceptable. Never sure on the ham masquerading as bacon, mind.

TabbyStar · 02/10/2020 19:20

My favourite continental buffet moment (evening not breakfast) was my DD eating battered calamari and saying "These onion rings taste funny"!

Vintagelovingmum · 02/10/2020 19:31

Just cutting up the strawberries to make some jam tomorrow and found this beauty. I personally don't think dh has got the best angle on it though!
