Just trying to live a meaningful life in an increasingly bizarre world in which nothing makes sense any more.

@DominaShantotto. No because I spent two days last month replacing the back fence. Now I get the warm and fuzzies every time the wind blows and admire my handiwork.

I am woman- hear me roar 😎

TabbyStar · 02/10/2020 16:50

Wet and windy here too, I have to go out and take DD to her friend's house in a bit.

BogRollBOGOF · 02/10/2020 16:55

Err... a big chunk of my roof is missing tiles for the night and I'm at the whim of the liner... at least it's not a SWerly wind...

TheOrchidKiller · 02/10/2020 16:57

Got the heating on now.

JamSarnie · 02/10/2020 17:04

I lost a fence panel in the last storm but they are holding up just nicely at the moment.

However, our drive does have a few big puddles in it now and I am dreading tomorrow which looks even worse than today.

Larry, I’m not sure what you’re getting out of posting on these threads. You must be aware if you’ve read them that hardly anyone on here is advocating ‘ letting COVID rip’ or not following the rules. You must also be aware that many of us have found these threads extremely supportive at a time of great stress and uncertainty. So why bother? And who are you calling ill educated?

SirSamuelVimes · 02/10/2020 17:07

Blah blah blah.

Anyway.

I am fucking miserable tonight. Limping through til bedtime for the dds and then I think I will just sleep. It's going to piss down all day tomorrow which isn't helping my mood.

JamSarnie · 02/10/2020 17:11

I hate rain. It's bloody miserable.

I hate really cold wind as it makes my face all blotchy for several days after.

Snow is just shit as it gets mushy or freezers and I fall on my arse.

I don't do extreme heat very well unless I have a cocktail in my hand and a swimming pool nearby and air con in the bedroom.

So that leaves a few warm weeks in spring/summer and autumn which I call perfect weather. The type when it's warm in the day but not too warm and you can still wear a tshirt in the evening in a beer garden. I need to find a better country than the uk Grin

BogRollBOGOF · 02/10/2020 17:15

I can't say that I'm gutted that it's our night off karate. We've got a 2 week on 1 week off rotation. Not the nicest evening to sit in the car for 45mins.

I stayed toasty at Brownies last night. Fleece trousers, wellies, my mother of all big coats, snood, gloves, hat. The temperature seems to plummet as the sun reaches the horizon. The kids are getting more sensibly dressed by the week*

  • the irony being that I own a child that does not do long sleeves or trousers.

Tenerife in the winter and Iceland in the summer Grin

Love that song HelenaDove.
Although it's appropriate nd a great idea I hate my fave songs being ruined by adverts.

Sun's shining here for a change and not windy even more of a change! And I am stuck indoors😤😤😤

JamSarnie · 02/10/2020 17:19

Tenerife in the winter and Iceland in the summer

Grin sounds perfect 😆

larrygrylls · 02/10/2020 17:20

Polly,

I wish I had not found these threads. The talk of breakfast at five star hotels, spa days and shopping as a leisure activity, coupled with the resentment of those going on them that they might have to mitigate their normal behaviour to protect others is, to me, beyond selfish.

And no I have not ‘misunderstood’, I just disagree. They are not the same thing.

To me, they are incredibly similar to anti vaxer threads, although most here cannot see it.

Supportive threads are great if they involve no cost to others. I feel that these threads do have a cost to others.

Again, IMO, these threads are all about prioritising the poster’s leisure over the safety of teachers, doctors and nurses etc.

I won’t post again, as I am pissing in the wind. It is like posting on a 5litre Range Rover appreciation thread that I don’t feel that they are suitable for London streets or environmentally friendly. It does not make my view invalid, though, especially on a parenting website.

And that is my parting shot on these threads...

JamSarnie · 02/10/2020 17:22

Anyone got anymore good veg pics Wink

SirSamuelVimes · 02/10/2020 17:22

Don't let the door hit you on the way out...

bookworm14 · 02/10/2020 17:22

It’s been raining literally all day here. Semi-lockdown in autumn/winter is going to be so bleak.

Wine nigh tonight! Woohoo.

I'm home from a tiring day of shopping. Well only to Ikea and Costco. Both necessitated queues to get in, queues for checkouts and to get out. Exhausted, skint and I STILL didn't get everything I went for. Costco were out of the usual Kirkland loo rolls - I have bought those for years - staff told me people had been bulk buying (and they come in huge packs to start with! ) Costco staff were nice though - friendly and helpful - unlike Ikea staff who looked stressed to the gills.

Ibake · 02/10/2020 17:26

Christ, better not mention that I own a pick up purely because of the BIK benefits then had I?! In my defence my other car is electric - although again only because it's a tax benefit Grin

Ibake · 02/10/2020 17:29

I earlier typed rude veg into google. It would appear that carrots are dirty buggers indeed.

We found similar in Costco last week.

No Kirkland toilet roll and what we could get was limited to one pack which is a pain as we only go a few times a year and stock up on toilet roll and kitchen towels so will have to go back again.

And I resisted all the cake as trying not to put weight back on.

Ibake · 02/10/2020 17:31

My Costco trips dictated by the dog needing food. He's getting a little skinny as I'm eking it out as long as possible.*

  • he's not really, he's a Labrador ffs!
Willow2017 · 02/10/2020 17:32

Christ on a bike someone has tickets on himself don't they?
Endless Blah blah bloody blah.
Toodleooo.

Willow2017 · 02/10/2020 17:38

I had the same with my fave loo roll a couple of weeks ago in HB, all gone for days. It's cheap but damm good on a par with many branded overpriced stuff and way better than supermarket own brands. Finally got some last week. Will be back next week as we go through loads in our house! Its the one thing I don't want to run out of.
