Any new Eufy Robovac parents out there?

A couple of weeks ago there was a flurry of recommendations for the Eufy RoboVac on a couple of threads.
Several posters declared they would be buying one. I was one of them.
I wondered how other new owners were getting on. We are delighted with ours.
To start with it did not seem like a time saver, but this was because we were so fascinated with its purposeful scurrying that we just sat and watched it.
Now it gets going via the app every morning at 6.30 and does three rooms plus many yards of hall carpet.
It is truly amazing how much it picks up. After four days on the same route it still fills up each time. It seems to be mainly picking up dust, but where does it keep coming from?
Just two complaints: the small pieces of adhesive paper supplied is not very sticky. You use those if you want to create a barrier. When you interrupt its routine to tell it to go back to its base it won’t go straight there but rather indignantly insists on going via the pretty route.
Otherwise great!
Anyone else?

Very tempted - especially with the Black Friday deals! Can I use it on multiple floors or does it learn where it’s hub is? We’ve got a loft extension so and thinking of doing a floor a day, will that work do you think?

Yes, floor a day will work. You can carry it up to a different floor but you will either have to let it roam there until either the charge runs out or you carry it back down again to its hub. It won't attempt to climb down stairs to get to its hutch on its own.

@PamDemic

I'm thinking of getting one today - does anyone have the mopping version? and if so ,is it worth it?

otherwise I think I'll go for the 15c max - the 30c max appears to be unavailable everywhere

DS1.has the mopping version for downstairs where most floors are hard. He is very pleased with it. He said it wipes rather than washes but leaves the floor looking slightly polished and buffed.

Interesting that the 30c is unavailable, big rush for the really good Black Friday price presumably .

Controversial opinion: I didn't love a Eufy, after talking to friends and borrowing one for a few days we ended up spending a little more and getting a Roboroc S5 Max which is Amazing. Perfect value for money before spending stupid amounts on self emptying models but still getting intelligent features, mop and vacuum with amazing pick up and multi floor mapping. Honestly a game changer. We paid £349 for it, that's not even the cheapest I've seen it for.

Pamdemic, the Amazon site let me put the 30c in my basket, so it looks as if they do have some. £152.99.

@PamDemic
Hi
I have the mopping one and love it. As said previously it wipes rather than mops, but I use it every morning on wooden floors when I take the dog for a walk so it copes with the doggy footmarks as he comes in and out of house during the day.
I pop a splash of Zoflora in and house is clean and smells lovely when we get back.
I just need to get some big googly stick on eyes now and give it a name 🤣

@PamDemic
I bought Roborock S5.

The unintended consequences of having a Robovac is that I think about what goes on the floor. I know with manual vacuuming and mopping you still have to move chairs/ tables etc but I have much less stuff on the floor now so much tidier as a household.
For big armchairs etc I move to one spot one day so it cleans where they were and back to their normal spot the next day and then it cleans the other bit.
My floor has never been so clean and polished.
Good luck and hope you get a good deal

TrickyD thanks for the help. I've ordered one, DH thinks I'm mad but then he never does the vacuuming and he's retired so he can't see the advantages. I know DD and DSIL like their house to look nice but both work hard and I hope this might just help a bit. Fingers crossed.

ancientgran, I am sure I have mentioned this before but our DSs were so impressed with ours that DS1 asked for a 30c as a birthday present, and bought himself a hybrid as well and DS2 is hoping for a 30C for Christmas. I am sure your DD and DSIL will be happy.

PamDemic, that sounds rather unlikely unless it is faulty. You could ring the Eufy customer service, their no. should be on the website, and ask.

Thanks to this thread and all the helpful posters I took the plunge and ordered a 30CMax - we have a cat. I waited for DS to come home from his dad's this evening to set it up. Never has 1 gadget given so much pleasure. The cat is not so sure (yet) - shame as we have named the little Eufy after the cat. Think CAT and LITTLE CAT. It has now done a couple of runs around the kitchen and landing. The cat hair is horrific - totally full trays. My normal hoover is a (crap) Sebo. I am so hopeful that after a few weeks the house might be fur-free!!

DS expressed his disappointment that I hadnt bought a mopping one - I simply pointed at our lovely steam cleaner (which was his old favourite gadget).

Took the plunge and Eufy is now whizzing around on day two, but doesn’t seem to be covering all areas? I’m watching with frustration as he goes over and over the same areas when there are other areas he has yet to touch. Does he eventually learn the house and cover everywhere?

Mine didn’t leave the lounge for the first day, I presumed he just sensed it was very dusty! He does eventually get round most of the downstairs although yesterday he was obsessed with cleaning under the coffee table and just kept turning round and going back for about 20 minutes so eventually I directed him away with his remote.
He does spend more time on the carpeted areas.

TrickyD thanks for that. He is now sitting in the dining room waiting to be wrapped for Christmas. DH, who didn't think it was a good present, is now trying to persuade me to let him set it up to make sure it works!

Ours was shut out of the sitting room for his morning run, because cables from the tree lights were trailing around. So he spent a lot of time in the snug, and managed to burrow his way into a spot he had never found before, between the sofa and a small table. He was so determinedly enmeshed that DH had to lift the end of the sofa to rescue him.
First job today, fix up those cables.

@TrickyD I’m so glad my eufy isn’t the only one who likes to wedge himself somewhere sodding awkward.

I have a 5 legged chair/sofa (one on each corner and one in the middle) eufy likes to get cozy between the centre leg and the far corner one... then he cries to be rescued... which involves rocking the sofa forward and driving him free with his remote. Last time I left him there for 2 days to teach him a lesson! Grin

Two days! I am surprised you haven’t been reported to the Eufy safeguarding branch of SS for cruelty and neglect.

Boris arrived yesterday. DP and I spent the whole weekend watching him bimble around. It was remarkably entertaining, especially when he kept trying to hump the disc-based bar stools. The cats, however, may never forgive me.

Bernard arrived this afternoon. He’s a 15C max.

We are thrilled with him, he’s a little warrior.

For reasons that I won’t go into, I have a severe and life-long aversion to vacuum cleaner sounds.
However I also have 2 cats and two teenagers.
I can say hand on heart that my quality of life has improved and will continue to because of this thread. Thank you OP 🙏🏻
