Any new Eufy Robovac parents out there?

A couple of weeks ago there was a flurry of recommendations for the Eufy RoboVac on a couple of threads.
Several posters declared they would be buying one. I was one of them.
I wondered how other new owners were getting on. We are delighted with ours.
To start with it did not seem like a time saver, but this was because we were so fascinated with its purposeful scurrying that we just sat and watched it.
Now it gets going via the app every morning at 6.30 and does three rooms plus many yards of hall carpet.
It is truly amazing how much it picks up. After four days on the same route it still fills up each time. It seems to be mainly picking up dust, but where does it keep coming from?
Just two complaints: the small pieces of adhesive paper supplied is not very sticky. You use those if you want to create a barrier. When you interrupt its routine to tell it to go back to its base it won’t go straight there but rather indignantly insists on going via the pretty route.

Otherwise great!
Anyone else?

After dinner every night, my husband or I 'flick our bits' for eufy.

This involves brushing the bits out from under the kitchen skirting board so eufy can do a better job. Makes me snigger every night when it's time to flick our bits.

I wish children would stop leaving lego everywhere. It's upsets eufy.

@bananamonkey. Thank you sorry i have rtft but mind is jumbled, what’s the app for? We have Alexa in a tv speaker but she’s quite confused (She’s become American...). so don’t really use her . So presumably then the 15 would be ok ? Off to google the price and see if it makes it more within reach!!
Good

tootyfruitypickle · 17/09/2020 20:34

Oh nope i want boundary strips, so back at the 30c.
I actually can’t afford it at the mo, so this is literally the main thing I’m looking forward to in hopefully not too distant future !

I got the 11c and he's great! Set the timer from the remote and he sucks up more stuff than I ever thought possible. I would never have used the app.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 17/09/2020 21:20

Where does all the dust come from? Seriously?! He goes for a spin everyday and everyday. More dust!

AlCalavicci · 17/09/2020 22:20

@Baxdream how are you getting on with your new best friend / pet ?

ChoccyJules · 18/09/2020 09:19

Goofy update (named by child who thought that’s what the logo said due to swirly font): house never been so clean so often.

He can’t be let loose to do the whole downstairs because he gets into the doormat trap and can’t climb out, this is annoying as it means more supervision required.

Also he can’t find his way back to the place we currently have the base station due to it being round a corner behind the TV, he gets close but always twirls away and goes to the other side. It’s proving tricky to find a good place to put the charger, the best two places would trip people up.

Now I just need something handheld for the stairs and the transformation will be complete!

Baxdream · 18/09/2020 09:49

He spent most of yesterday charging and I'm at work today so don't want to freak the dog out 😂
I'll get him working later!

AlCalavicci · 18/09/2020 10:56

@ChoccyJules,
You can buy the boundary strips seprartly would that be a option to keep him out of the door mat pit of doom ( Grin )
He does need a bit of space around him to be able to get back t his kennel , have you got space under your sofa or under the kitchen cupboards.
I must admit if I had the space I would be very tempted to build him a little kennel and put his name over the door Blush

@Baxdream,
ha ha yes I would defiantly recommend a carefully monitored introduction to each other , your dog may think s/he is been upstaged !

AlCalavicci · 18/09/2020 10:59

PS @ChoccyJules I use a heavy snake draught excluder to keep mine from escaping out of the front door (inch high metal strip and he can still climb over it sometimes ! )

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 18/09/2020 11:34

Ours is Goofy too! I have a Eufy handheld @ChoccyJules but it’s not particularly powerful (it was relatively cheap - less than £50 I think) so there are probably better options out there

AlCalavicci · 18/09/2020 12:37

Ah Andrew does my stairs for me ,
He was the only one that I could find that worked for more than 8 / 10 mins on a full charge .
One that I looked up needed a 12 hr charge to work for 9 mins ! in what world is that practical ?
Andrew needs to be charged for about 3 hrs and will work for half a hour but to be fair I have had him out 3 or 4 times to do the stairs on just one charge, he is not the most powerful of cleaners but then I dont think many hand held ones of this kind of design are very powerful, he is easy to empty and comes in a neat storage bag a bit like a shoe bag .
I think he cost me about £25 the attachments are ok but the flexible hose is a waste of space IMO as it is about a foot long and too flexible to use against any hard surface . the only time it may be useful is if you need to get water out of a sink if the sink is blocked but I have not tried to suck up any water yet so I dont know how it fairs with that aspect

oh and dont let the image deceive you he does not light up with a nice blue light >>disappointed

Polly99 · 18/09/2020 14:35

I love my Eufy. I feel weirdly maternal about him and sometimes find myself talking to him. Blush

Oddonetoday · 18/09/2020 14:42

@Polly99
You are not alone....a sock got stuck in the wheel arch and I was very distressed seeing the struggle (he looked all humpy) But we fixed him, easy to remove the plate. And he was off again....
I was actually concerned he was hurt...

ChoccyJules · 19/09/2020 10:26

@AlCalavicci Andrew looks intriguing, thanks!

Goofy did the downstairs today, including his first time in the utility room and I am thrilled by the result.

He got stuck in the doormat tray again, but no worries because DH was nearby and I had asked him to monitor the round one. Ha ha. That part didn’t work...will he understand the strips if he is an 11S?

Baxdream · 19/09/2020 18:25

Eufy is settling in well! We're moving soon so I haven't used the strips.
Ddog is getting used to him - intrigued but still scared!
I've been trapping Eufy in rooms so that he does a thorough job. He went into the ensuite earlier and cleaned the shower tray 😂

ChoccyJules · 19/09/2020 19:00

Oh and he does get stuck humping the bases of the kitchen stools...

TrickyD · 19/09/2020 21:12

ChoccyJules, ours got stuck in the doormat tray too but the strips cured that.
You could ring Eufy customer support, who are said to be very helpful, to ask about strips working with the 11s before forking out for some.

hahahahatake4cards · 19/09/2020 22:58

Oh how much is this going to cost me? DH is laying a new wooden floor so maybe I need a mop version ? So jealous

Any chance of some pics of where you've located their kennels ?

Peckhampalace · 19/09/2020 23:18

Mr Bumble has been here a month (inspired by this thread). He goes for a run three times a week at 11pm and picks up an amazing amount of fluff and bits and he had been allowed upstairs a couple of times as a treat.....he did move a shoe across the room one night, our fault for leaving loose laces for him to play with.

AlCalavicci · 20/09/2020 21:18

Oh No can any one tell me what the number is for Eufy hospital ?
Buzz has developed a issues with one of his whiskers !
He was making a odd sound so I took his whiskers off and when I turn the attachment it sort of clicks like the is a cog not quite lined up >>worried face

AllDruggedUpWithNowhereToGo · 20/09/2020 21:24

Mine rarely finds his way back to his kennel... I have him run over night as the dog (big GSD) is terrified of him! And it has just become one more morning task to find him and pop him in his kennel so he can charge all day. He frequently gets tangled/caught on things that i didn’t even know were on the floor.

It’s really become a bit of a game to find what trouble he got into over night Grin

AlCalavicci · 20/09/2020 21:54

@AllDruggedUpWithNowhereToGo ,
Has he got enough space around his kennel to line up straight ? I have found Buzz can get into narrow ish spaces to get to his providing as he has a long ( about 2 foot ) run up to it which I forget sometime and put the coffee table in his way , he can get out of the space by going diagonally but needs to go in a straight line to get back in.

To get your dog to like it put some treats on top , it worked with my cat who was less than impressed when I first got Buzz

AllDruggedUpWithNowhereToGo · 20/09/2020 22:00

@AlCalavicci

I don’t really have anywhere else for his kennel and it is a bit cramped as it’s in a corner under the coffee table, although he does manage to get back to it occasionally. I don’t mind retrieving him in the morning... it just adds to the “drunk friend” persona he has.

I will try putting treats on him for the dog, thanks for the suggestion... any idea how to stop the cats stealing his whiskers? Grin

AlCalavicci · 20/09/2020 22:10

@AllDruggedUpWithNowhereToGo ah I had mine in a corner at first he didnt like it at all , he now sleeps next to the fire ( where every self respecting pet sleeps Grin )

I think my cat may be the issues with buzzes whiskers ! he has had them off a couple of times ,
Good luck with the dog
