Any new Eufy Robovac parents out there?

TrickyD · 13/08/2020 09:10

A couple of weeks ago there was a flurry of recommendations for the Eufy RoboVac on a couple of threads.
Several posters declared they would be buying one. I was one of them.
I wondered how other new owners were getting on. We are delighted with ours.
To start with it did not seem like a time saver, but this was because we were so fascinated with its purposeful scurrying that we just sat and watched it.
Now it gets going via the app every morning at 6.30 and does three rooms plus many yards of hall carpet.
It is truly amazing how much it picks up. After four days on the same route it still fills up each time. It seems to be mainly picking up dust, but where does it keep coming from?
Just two complaints: the small pieces of adhesive paper supplied is not very sticky. You use those if you want to create a barrier. When you interrupt its routine to tell it to go back to its base it won’t go straight there but rather indignantly insists on going via the pretty route.
Otherwise great!
Anyone else?

I'm reactivating this to ask whether anybody else's Eufy "bounces" along the carpet sometimes? It leaves little ruffles!

And I suspect there might be some new Eufy parents after Prime Day. Grin

Thank you so much for this thread, I’ve just sat an read all 34 pages Blush.

Anyway I’ve just ordered my eufy!!! He/she is coming tomorrow and I’m SO excited, rang BF at work (he thought someone bad had happened 😂).

Need to decide a name, I might leave it to DS but I think he’ll come up with a silly name that doesn’t befit such a cute creature. I’m thinking Alfie (if it’s a boy) or Effy (it’s a girl). I’ll await their arrival
Tomorrow and wait till I see their
Face before I make such an important decision

Thank you so much for this thread.
New Eufy 15C Max arrived yesterday, I’ve bought it for upstairs, it’s fab and I am horrified by how full it has been after every outing. Why did I not get one before. Thanks for tips about raising beds etc so that it can hoover underneath.

@angel0071987 I find bits of lego in the dust box

It's here already and the whole family has been fascinated watching it! It's currently sat in it's little house charging before it carries on pottering about :)

I've ordered the G30 Edge - we have quite a big house and our cordless Dyson keeps dying after 2 rooms. I have quite long hair and seem to shed as much as a golden retriever, how do they cope with long hair? I normally have to de-tangle the Dyson and it's a pain. I am SLIGHTLY concerned, as a visually impaired person with reduced peripheral vision, that this new member of the household is going to trip me over, but we'll see.

Think you have me converted. Does she choke on Lego or ignore/push it around?

@Dominoz my floor has never been so clean, no more rice crisps sticking to socks following the kids at breakfast.
I'm still fascinated over the huge amount of fluff that is collected after a daily run over the carpets. Is 'Guffy' just slowly stripping the top layer of carpet off or is there really just years of ground in dirt being removed?
The first time I did the downstairs 'she' stopped half way round asking to be emptied!!

I may or may not have been lying on the floor to check it's reaching all spots under the sofa... well done Violet!

@SunscreenCentral

Bernard arrived this afternoon. He’s a 15C max.

We are thrilled with him, he’s a little warrior.

For reasons that I won’t go into, I have a severe and life-long aversion to vacuum cleaner sounds.
However I also have 2 cats and two teenagers.
I can say hand on heart that my quality of life has improved and will continue to because of this thread. Thank you OP 🙏🏻

As the OP, I now feel my life has not been lived in vain. Thank you!

Boris arrived yesterday. DP and I spent the whole weekend watching him bimble around. It was remarkably entertaining, especially when he kept trying to hump the disc-based bar stools. The cats, however, may never forgive me.
@TrickyD I’m so glad my eufy isn’t the only one who likes to wedge himself somewhere sodding awkward.

I have a 5 legged chair/sofa (one on each corner and one in the middle) eufy likes to get cozy between the centre leg and the far corner one... then he cries to be rescued... which involves rocking the sofa forward and driving him free with his remote. Last time I left him there for 2 days to teach him a lesson! Grin
Two days! I am surprised you haven’t been reported to the Eufy safeguarding branch of SS for cruelty and neglect.

Ours was shut out of the sitting room for his morning run, because cables from the tree lights were trailing around. So he spent a lot of time in the snug, and managed to burrow his way into a spot he had never found before, between the sofa and a small table. He was so determinedly enmeshed that DH had to lift the end of the sofa to rescue him.
First job today, fix up those cables.

TrickyD thanks for that. He is now sitting in the dining room waiting to be wrapped for Christmas. DH, who didn't think it was a good present, is now trying to persuade me to let him set it up to make sure it works!

Mine didn’t leave the lounge for the first day, I presumed he just sensed it was very dusty! He does eventually get round most of the downstairs although yesterday he was obsessed with cleaning under the coffee table and just kept turning round and going back for about 20 minutes so eventually I directed him away with his remote.
He does spend more time on the carpeted areas.

Took the plunge and Eufy is now whizzing around on day two, but doesn’t seem to be covering all areas? I’m watching with frustration as he goes over and over the same areas when there are other areas he has yet to touch. Does he eventually learn the house and cover everywhere?

Thanks to this thread and all the helpful posters I took the plunge and ordered a 30CMax - we have a cat. I waited for DS to come home from his dad's this evening to set it up. Never has 1 gadget given so much pleasure. The cat is not so sure (yet) - shame as we have named the little Eufy after the cat. Think CAT and LITTLE CAT. It has now done a couple of runs around the kitchen and landing. The cat hair is horrific - totally full trays. My normal hoover is a (crap) Sebo. I am so hopeful that after a few weeks the house might be fur-free!!

DS expressed his disappointment that I hadnt bought a mopping one - I simply pointed at our lovely steam cleaner (which was his old favourite gadget).
