Any new Eufy Robovac parents out there?

A couple of weeks ago there was a flurry of recommendations for the Eufy RoboVac on a couple of threads.
Several posters declared they would be buying one. I was one of them.
I wondered how other new owners were getting on. We are delighted with ours.
To start with it did not seem like a time saver, but this was because we were so fascinated with its purposeful scurrying that we just sat and watched it.
Now it gets going via the app every morning at 6.30 and does three rooms plus many yards of hall carpet.
It is truly amazing how much it picks up. After four days on the same route it still fills up each time. It seems to be mainly picking up dust, but where does it keep coming from?
Just two complaints: the small pieces of adhesive paper supplied is not very sticky. You use those if you want to create a barrier. When you interrupt its routine to tell it to go back to its base it won’t go straight there but rather indignantly insists on going via the pretty route.

Otherwise great!
Anyone else?

Argh BB ate my mat! Luckily it’s just a Poundland one that DH keeps his back door shoes on, plus I still love him for making me feel like I have a clean house.

Today Dustin found the silicone sealant between the kitchen kick boards and the flooring. He didn't like it, and has ripped up about a metre. I have been telling hubby that it needed redoing for ages! Not Dustins fault.

Aww naughty Dustin ( love the name )

Sadly Goofy will not work with the magnetic strips so that isn’t an option. He will have to be monitored when he is doing the hall.

Babyiwantabump · 25/09/2020 14:04

Well my Robbie has developed a fault! Seems to loose his charge even when left on the charger in between runs and so I have to take him off and put him back on so he charges immediately before use ☹️.
Have let eufy customer service know so just waiting to hear back on what to do.

ChoccyJules · 25/09/2020 14:21

Goofy is trying out having his base behind the sofa. I think he’ll find his way back there easier. I haven’t hoovered every day since it was part of my job as an au pair!

This is a very long thread and I can’t read it all but I get that people love the eufy. Is there a big difference between the 15 and the 30? As the 30 is significantly cheaper on amazon and I could have it tomorrow? Will I be disappointed? Is the 15 the one with the docking station?

They all come with a charging station as far as I know. I think 30 is higher spec than 15 so if you can get it cheaper you’re probably onto a winner.
QuiteGood · 26/09/2020 14:35

Weirdly the 15 is the one with the higher suction. I think I might hold my nose & go for that one.

AllDruggedUpWithNowhereToGo · 26/09/2020 19:21

@QuiteGood I have the 15 and love it, the higher suction is a must for me and even with it it struggles with some of the bigger chewed up dog rope bits (to be fair the dyson needs a couple of goes over on them to).

But yes definitely get the higher suction as you can always have it on the lower suction setting and extend battery life if you find you don’t need to run it on max suction

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 27/09/2020 22:15

We’re currently looking after the hairiest dog in the world, and Goofy has excelled himself! Could knit a jumper from the fluff he’s picked up in the first 24 hours of dogsitting.

Only 85% !!!
Chasingsquirrels · 28/09/2020 17:36

Mine DOES NOT have a name and is referred to as "the eufy".
My mum keeps referring to "he" and "him" but I am very definate on the use of "it".

QuiteGood · 28/09/2020 18:30

5 bedroomed house cleaned (apart from the 17 year old’s bombsite - too much shite on the floor) including under the beds and sofas. What an amazing creature. Plus virtually silent. Great purchase.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 28/09/2020 18:32

Yay @QuiteGood! Glad he ( Wink ) is serving you well. Ours has done two laps of our bedroom and half an hour in the kids’ room today and I’ll send him on a spin of the hallway and kitchen later. He’s brilliant.

That is a genius place to keep him on charge! I'm going to move ours there as it's out the way and might stop the kids pestering him!
123rd · 04/10/2020 11:57

Just a quick question:..we have had ours for about a month now. He pops out every other morning. I set him to come on before the sun rises as he gets confused with the extreme shadows in our kitchen??? Anyway, how long does yours take to fully charge back up? And hold that charge?
Is it better to set them on charge a few hours before going off or charge them up after they have fi shoes cleaning?

Chasingsquirrels · 04/10/2020 12:12

Mine lives on the charging station which is always on, so that it is always fully charged (other than when it's just finished obviously). I thought that was the point.

Mine is scheduled for 1.30am, so when I get up its fully charged again (unless it's had a misadventure on its nightly outing) and can be set off in other areas if I want (upstairs, 10 mins in the utility which it can't do at night cos the dog sleeps in there, kitchen if DP is staying as his dog sleeps in it).

TimeTruthandHearts · 04/10/2020 12:21

Ours lives on the charger and is set for doing the downstairs floors at midnight. By the time we're up and about, she's ready to be lifted to the upstairs floors.

We make that gal earn her rent.

123rd · 04/10/2020 12:47

Thanks. I will keep him
Turned on all the time then. He is only set for every other night but I do pop him
Upstairs for the bathrooms and entrance hall ad hoc.
Thanks for the replies

ForthPlace · 06/10/2020 08:15

Lovely people some advice please.
Ready to buy...

We live on four floors, plan would be to use Eufy on the charger on one floor, but maybe every other day move Eufy to clean another floor.

Would this work or mess up 'his' knowledge of the rooms?
Would we need to move the charger too?

Does Eufy work on ceramic tiled floors? - hair to pick up mainly.

Thank you.

Chasingsquirrels · 06/10/2020 08:19

The cleaning is random, there is no "knowledge of the rooms".
You wouldn't need to move the charger, but obviously it wouldn't be able to return to base - you'd just return it when it finished.
I find it works best on hard floors (mine are laminate & LVT), although it does a good enough job on my low pile carpets too.
