We’ve just had the mother of thunderstorms!

bloodyhell, haven’t experienced one that ferocious for years! Terribly loud thunder, the type that shakes your home. Flash flooding too in some areas.

But now we’ve got sunshine and warmth again🙂

Have you had a thunderstorm?

Weather is gorgeous here in London.

I can't stand the heat in London. It's just sweaty & still. Bring on the thunderstorms.

userbbb · 10/08/2020 19:52

Surfed through it though. Thunder so loud that a kid on a wave near me burst into tears!

I thought you were supposed to get out of the water during lightning if possible obviously.
Wales thunderstorms bring power cuts and flash flooding www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-53726444
I felt very sorry for the pub/restaurant owner in that article. They've only just been able to reopen in Wales

I think we're looking at the same map, I was about the post the same.
Brumcherub · 10/08/2020 20:11

Just finished in Brum, didn't last long.

Proudtocare · 10/08/2020 20:15

We had the most unbelievable thunderstorm about 9.30am today in Devon. Never known one like it.

thepixelrevival · 10/08/2020 20:22

It's clouded over here but still no sign of thunder. We'll be staying up with Pixel Dog if it starts so I hope it passes us by.

Crankley · 10/08/2020 20:23

No sign of rain in Buckinghamshire. It's desperately needed as I fear the crack crater in my lawn will get big enough to reach Australia soon. Plus my potted lemon and orange bushes look dead Sad

earlydoors42 · 10/08/2020 20:30

@FredaFox did you say your mate in Huddersfield has had rain for hours? I am in Huddersfield and it's been dry all day except a few spots this afternoon

IndieTara · 10/08/2020 20:37

Yes one finished here 20 mins ago, was a bit disappointing though. Don't think it was overhead. Am in Solihull

Gingaaarghpussy · 10/08/2020 21:01

According accuweather its not happening where I am until Wednesday. I will believe it when I see though, thunderstorms round here tend to be 3 rolls of thunder a couple of flahes of lightning and an upturned bucket of water for 2 minutes..
Most underwhelming.

Accuweather are lying bastards, they told me this morning it was going to rain in two hours. It's been cracking the flagstones all day but apparently is going to rain in an hour. I'll give them another chance at telling the truth - they say we will get 2.8cm of rain at 5am, I'll be measuring it Grin
Igmum · 10/08/2020 21:58

Manchester here. Feels like it's imminent. Bracing myself....

Wishihadanalgorithm · 10/08/2020 22:02

Warwick hasn’t had a storm. Plenty of thunder rumbling on for about an hour but nothing else. It has been horrific!

SospanFrangipan · 10/08/2020 22:03

Yes OP! We're up on the coast and it was bloody brilliant! Really cleared the air out there now. Love a good storm ☔️

Pavlova31 · 10/08/2020 22:04

I agree. Manchester too.
Fingers crossed after today's heat.

LookingGlassMilk · 10/08/2020 22:09

We were supposed to be getting this in Dublin, I was so looking forward to it. I was watching it on the radar all morning and then it changed direction and headed off up through Wales. So disappointed.

Sheknowsaboutme · 10/08/2020 23:08

Were having another lightning fest!!

It certainly isn't!

justasking111 · 10/08/2020 23:21

OMG surrounded by them now offshore and onshore. a continuous rumble, the dog is going to crack up again.

Gingaaarghpussy · 11/08/2020 00:03

I dont tend to take a great deal of notice of any weather app. I just look out of my window. Grin

jessstan2 · 11/08/2020 00:07

@howlathebees

None here! I want it!
Me too! It's been boiling for days, we're surely entitled to a bit of rain in SE London.
Grandmi · 11/08/2020 00:10

Crikey I live in the south east and the heat has been hideous!! Not a great time working in a care home today!!! I was lucky only working 6 hours but cannot imagine how the carers and nurses coped all day!! They are all really amazing, lovely people 👋Xx

Shinygreenelephant · 11/08/2020 00:10

Weve just had an amazing one, ended up in the garden with all the kids dancing in the rain until the hail started and we had to run for it. Back in bed now drenched, cooled us off though
