bloodyhell, haven’t experienced one that ferocious for years! Terribly loud thunder, the type that shakes your home. Flash flooding too in some areas.

But now we’ve got sunshine and warmth again🙂

Have you had a thunderstorm?

NW coast here, lightening strikes all over the place. Starting to quieten down now though. Lightening map was really going off

I can’t wait for a good storm, It’s baking in London and I’ve had enough

@Sheknowsaboutme

Were having another lightning fest!!

NW coast here and it was an epic storm! Started about 11pm. So much lightening and crashing thunder followed by enough rain to make me worry about flooding the roof!

Ours was at 2am! It was really close, thunder and lightning almost simultaneously, and was so ferocious. I love a storm, but cheesedog was really frightened of this one. Not had one that loud in years!

@userbbb

Surfed through it though. Thunder so loud that a kid on a wave near me burst into tears!

I thought you were supposed to get out of the water during lightning if possible obviously.

South lakes - epic storm from about midnight last night. Continuous lightning for what seemed like hours and some extremely loud thunder cracks.

Knackered this morning as terrible nights sleep !

Nothing here in Beds but my TV is full of interference and static. It is truly oppressive here.

@Bumpsadaisie same on the tiredness front!

S Lakes was hammered by rain, the lightning was epic and the thunder was phenomenally loud. It lasted about 2.5 hours. We've escaped any flooding but parts of Lancs have flooded.

Lancs here. Epic storm last night/early hours of the morning. Not seen lightening like that in years. And it’s still hot/muggy today.

We were expected one last night but nothing in West Yorkshire. Forecasted again at 2am tonight so we’ll see.

We in SE London are getting the thunderstorm on Thursday according to the forecast, then some intermittent rain for a few days. However, temperatures will still be high.

It's cooled down now but so it should!

I’m in the Brecon Beacons at the moment and there was just an epic thunder storm.

The the wind got up for about 10 minutes, rained for a bit and now it’s all gone.

Still boiling hot though.

Never heard so much thunder before. I love a good storm.

@WingBingo

This was the lightning map for where I am.

Just looking at map now, wow same as we had on N Wales coast last night, hours of it. Wonder if we will get the same tonight. So muggy here now, and I have a headache sure sign of a change in the weather again.

West midlands here and fuck all. We had a rumble or two yesterday afternoon and about 3 drops of rain but that was it. Bloody humid weather has given me an absolute stinker of a headache.

Report
MulticolourMophead · 11/08/2020 20:33

While I'd be happy for a storm to break the weather, the rise in humidity from rain in this heat would probably do for me.

Sat out in garden before and after dinner, distant rumbling thunder(rather than big bang thunder) in several directions over the last couple of hours.
Looking at the map, there are lightning strikes west, east, north and south of us.
Here?
Nowt.

The contrast in temperatures across the nation is quite staggering, given only a few hundred miles separate us from desperate heatwave to temperate loveliness.
I am counting the minutes until the temperature drops. Have done nothing today as I feel sick and headachy.😡

Piggy I’m just over the border in Hertfordshire and my tv is full of crackle and pop too!
Sound keeps cutting out intermittently.
