We’ve just had the mother of thunderstorms!

bloodyhell, haven’t experienced one that ferocious for years! Terribly loud thunder, the type that shakes your home. Flash flooding too in some areas.

But now we’ve got sunshine and warmth again🙂

Have you had a thunderstorm?

NM here too and it's a very weird sky. The street lights have come on already and the north west sky is very pink. I am eagerly awaiting the excitement.

PimlicoJo · 12/08/2020 20:52

Nothing here in south east London. I'm sitting in my garden with a glass of wine and it's a beautiful evening.

Purpleice · 12/08/2020 20:59

North East Wales. We had a tango orange sky, thunder and rain. Looked really weird

Wolverhampton. Torrential rain, pitch black at 8pm. Electrical storm lightning. Thunder so loud the house shakes. Second night on the run. It's fabulous.

TroysMammy · 12/08/2020 21:15

Bit of thunder and lightning which is moving rapidly away but no rain at the moment.

WingBingo · 12/08/2020 21:22

Thunder, lightning and pouring with rain in Brecon Beacons.

It’s fantastic.

I love this. It's so addictive.
Come to me, little flashy dots. Please?!

PickAChew · 12/08/2020 21:59

The little flashy dots are even better when you activate the sound tracker.

Piggywaspushed · 12/08/2020 22:01

Well, I am glad now that it hasn't rained as I juts found my phone outside...

LadyArse · 12/08/2020 22:08

There's sound? Omg. I'm going to be up all night now.
ILiveInSalemsLot · 12/08/2020 22:10

Still no sign of rain but also cloudy skies so no meteor watching either.
At least it’s cooled down now.

MitziK · 12/08/2020 22:10

It sounds like a Geiger-Muller tube.

I switched it off.

SistemaAddict · 12/08/2020 22:11

Dd has just reported flashes but from the map they appear to be over Macclesfield way again.

MitziK · 12/08/2020 22:13

What? It's cooled down? Where?

Still fucking 34 Celsius upstairs and 30 downstairs.

I really, really, REALLY miss my old flat. Poxy flat, poxy area, but right up the top of a hill with nothing stopping the air coming over from the Rother estuary and blowing through the balcony door. Never got over 27 in there.

ILiveInSalemsLot · 12/08/2020 22:25

It’s still hot inside but cooled down outside. I want to put my bed in the garden. Don’t care if I get rained on.

SistemaAddict · 12/08/2020 22:26

Ah, here's the thunder!

homecomingcabbie · 12/08/2020 22:40

We have the lightning again but no rain or thunder, we've also got a power cut

homecomingcabbie · 12/08/2020 22:41

And it's not cooled down either, we can't use the cooling fan either of course Angry

RedToothBrush · 12/08/2020 22:52

Dh has just driven back from North Wales on the M56. Said worst driving conditions hes ever seen. At one point before he got on the motorway he had to stop (with friends travelling in convoy), and they weren't sure they were going to be able get home.

I hadn't wanted him to go tbh, and of course the amber warning only was announced 30 mins after he left.

So its BAD out there in places. A lot of people are going to have a very bad night.

homecomingcabbie · 12/08/2020 23:09

Storms over Wales and west England

We’ve just had the mother of thunderstorms!
40somethingJBJ · 12/08/2020 23:29

I’m currently in a very small caravan in Cheshire and it’s fucking horrible here! We’ve had a biblical kind of storm - enough rain to create a river effect through the campsite, plus a good few hours of thunder and lightning. My vans leaked, we’re all soaked and I’m bloody fed up! At least it’s cooled gown a tiny bit though!

ErrolTheDragon · 12/08/2020 23:47

Thunder and rain in Lancashire at the moment - the rain is hard but not as torrential and the thunder not quite as bad as the Monday night storms.

Devlesko · 12/08/2020 23:57

This is the fourth we've had.
I started a thread for one of them as it was amazing and weird. Deadly silence, no thunder.
Then one with freak hailstones, then hours of rain.
And the one tonight when the thunder was so loud.
I love a good storm and Greater Manc has had lots, it's a lot cooler now.

KatherineJaneway · 13/08/2020 06:17

Still no rain or storms in London Sad They (Met office) keep promising rain then consistently move the goal posts. Temp is only due to be 27 today.

MitziK · 13/08/2020 07:43

Up at 5, was suspicious of a light misting at 6.40am.

Come 7am, it rained properly for about 20 minutes and is now raining lightly.

I feel great for the first time in weeks. All that's left is some lovely thunder and lightning to clear the air properly and enough rain to soak the garden fully and I'll be over the moon.

(more like Singin' in the Rain, but you know what I mean).
