We’ve just had the mother of thunderstorms!

bloodyhell, haven’t experienced one that ferocious for years! Terribly loud thunder, the type that shakes your home. Flash flooding too in some areas.

But now we’ve got sunshine and warmth again🙂

Have you had a thunderstorm?

We've got lightning to the north west and south east of us, yesterday we had it to the north west and west of us. Nothing here, it's been really hot and humid - I have had the fan on most of the day so dreading the electricity bill.

Whatisthisfuckery · 11/08/2020 22:56

Scratch my last post. It’s flashing like mad here. Thunder isn’t very loud but the lightning is mad. Pissing it down as well.

LaurieFairyCake · 11/08/2020 23:13

Still 25 outside in South East London at 11.13pm Shock

More thunder and lightning now. Still very warm! Yesterday’s storm didn’t clear the air!

Big thunderstorm and lovely splashy rain in Cheshire 😁

funkychilli · 11/08/2020 23:24

Lots of lightning here but no thunder and no rain.

RedToothBrush · 11/08/2020 23:26

My WhatsApp is going mental about this particular storm. Where is it and where is the rain?! Id love to know where the storm actually is right now as ive about 6 people in different places all talking about it.

I want a storm!!!

Coffeewithmyoxyg3n · 11/08/2020 23:26

@Whatisthisfuckery I'm West Midlands too, just had over an hour of non stop lightening but almost zero thunder or rain for most of it. Absolutely chucked it down for 10 minutes then stopped. Was bizarre but incredible!

Missed the thunder, doesn't seem the same without it!

Miljea · 11/08/2020 23:34

Snowdonia?

You don't know how jealous I am, in southern Hampshire!

I love a good storm!

cantgetmyheadroundit · 11/08/2020 23:36

@RedToothBrush I'm near Middlewich, south Cheshire, it's very dramatic!

RustyLeesBogBrush · 11/08/2020 23:36

Same here in Aberdeen OP. I am currently lying in my bed in the dark and the lights keep flashing through the curtains then the whole house is being rumbled, never seen anything like this since I was in Las Vegas and saw all the later s hit the strip.

RustyLeesBogBrush · 11/08/2020 23:37

My husband was just woken up by one there and said it was like Poltergeist the film. Grin

DrCoconut · 11/08/2020 23:38

Let me get home from camping first 😂

midnightstar66 · 11/08/2020 23:38

Edinburgh over 2 hours and counting. Started with a constant light show for an hour then started the rumbling, then the rain then the hail, then the crashes that shake the building just when you think it's dying down. Best storm in years. Was hoping for an early night seeing we have kids in school for the first time tomorrow since lockdown 😬

RightOnTheEdge · 11/08/2020 23:42

My cousin arrived in Wales yesterday for a holiday. She said she loves storms normally but that one scared her to death. She was cowering in her caravan.

RedToothBrush · 11/08/2020 23:51

Im very jealous!!!

RedToothBrush · 11/08/2020 23:56

I loved the thunderstorms you get in Australia. Ours dont come close.

Im not sure id like to be camping tonight though!

kazza446 · 12/08/2020 00:01

We had one last night in north west, started just before midnight, calmed down and then came back literally with a Big Bang... went on until 4am. Shattered today as I spent night in my little ones bed as she was petrified. Was going to have an early night tonight but then found my rabbit dead. She’d died suddenly. Think it may have been the stress from the storm. I’m gutted 😩

QuantamBaby · 12/08/2020 00:05

Cheshire - I've never seen anything like the lightening we are experiencing in this country before! It's been going for hours...

Toddlerteaplease · 12/08/2020 00:08

My sister said the one in Cumbria was so loud the house was shaking. Nothing in the East Midlands though!

MadisonAvenue · 12/08/2020 00:12

I’m in the Midlands and we had an hour or so of constant lightning, without any thunder, which we could see in three directions (over Birmingham and Walsall from one window, Telford from another and Stafford from another), now we’ve got thunder, lightning and heavy rain. It’s still so hot and sticky though.

RedToothBrush · 12/08/2020 00:13

Ok now im not jealous.

Just had a roll of thunder which sounded like the house was about to fall down!

MitziK · 12/08/2020 00:31

35 fucking degrees in here. Had three showers today already and I'm going to have to have another before trying to go to sleep, as I'm sweatier than Satan's jockstrap.

Send me your thunder, please.

Please.

Perihelion · 12/08/2020 00:37

Edinburgh, after 3 hours of almost constant flashes, it's just about stopped...ah not quiteGrin
Monumental quantities of rain, never seen a storm like it. Love storms, but this one was a wee bit too mental.

bettsbattenburg · 12/08/2020 00:43

We've had the lightning but zero thunder. It'll start with the thunder when I go to bed and I'll have to come and sit with our pets.
