bloodyhell, haven’t experienced one that ferocious for years! Terribly loud thunder, the type that shakes your home. Flash flooding too in some areas.

But now we’ve got sunshine and warmth again🙂

Have you had a thunderstorm?

It is kicking off bigtime here in Oxfordshire!

TooManyDogsandChildren · 12/08/2020 17:28

Also in Oxfordshire - blazing sunshine and not a cloud in the sky (wish there were!)

Sheknowsaboutme · 12/08/2020 17:28

Thunder again in Snowdonia. Been rumbling from afar since 3pm. Tried to rain but just a few specks.

Hot.
Just hot. No rain, no breeze. Only hot.

User27aw · 12/08/2020 17:32

Thunder lightning and rain in south oxfordshire atm

Lonelycrab · 12/08/2020 17:34

Looks crazy in Oxfordshire right now on the lightning maps website!

Had a few far off strikes in North Hampshire, little bit of rain but only ten minutes or so- we need more! More muggy than a warehouse full of coffee cups hereGrin

tapdancingmum · 12/08/2020 17:35

Had to go to High Wycombe to collect DD and left in glorious sunshine with a few rumbles of thunder. Halfway there (it's only 10 mins away) had to put my wipers on full speed and by the time I had collected her the road out of town was flooded! Back home to a flooded garden with a huge thunderclap on the way.

Still hot though 😮

colouringindoors · 12/08/2020 17:49

Yes! Biggest one in years. i love them so had a door open a bit, and one of the claps when it was overhead actually made me jump Grin cooler air is amazing. Lots of sirens and sounds of splashy cars... Now just trying to get cooler air into house!

lachy · 12/08/2020 17:49

I left home at 4.15 in glorious sunshine. Five minutes later I had to pull over; massive hail stones bouncing off the roof of the car; wind howling, lightning, thunder and torrential rain.

45 minutes of crazy weather, the temperature dropped from 36° to 19° in a matter of minutes.

Its stopped now, still humid though Hmm

Am in Buckinghamshire.

colouringindoors · 12/08/2020 17:49

ooooh im a bit near you tapdancing!

CoraPirbright · 12/08/2020 17:52

Ooh hoping it’s coming this way lachy. We are near Reading and have been hearing the longest rumblings of thunder I have ever heard but nothing proper yet. The garden is tinder dry and everything is dying despite my (slightly guilty) efforts with the hose!! Need Rain!!

PickAChew · 12/08/2020 17:55

Just got an Amber warning notification for the southwest, Wales and northwest, from now until 9pm.

No idea why, as I'm in the NE.

Doilooklikeatourist · 12/08/2020 18:03

I'm on the edge of that warning shape ( west Wales ) @PickAChew
We've had rumbles of thunder , 2 power cuts , no rain and still 31° c at 6 pm
I'm waiting .....

BarefootHippieChick · 12/08/2020 18:05

You lot with rain and storms can bugger off. Absolutely nothing here in the Midlands and no more than a 30% chance of anything over the next few days 😒

Aragog · 12/08/2020 18:06

I can hear thunder but no lightning

Last night we had tons of lightning for ages - but didn't hear thunder until nearly an hour after the lightning started. When the thunder started so did the torrential rain.

Sadly it didn't seem to cool things down though.

Strawberrycreamsundae · 12/08/2020 18:44

DD in the Brecon Beacons said the thunder was making her jump when we were on the phone last night.
Bugger all here north of Bath although the clouds are coming up from the south.but seem to be skirting around us 😡. Very disappointing! It’s getting a bit windy but nothing more.

Strawberrycreamsundae · 12/08/2020 18:49

32° here, was 36° on my back patio at 6pm.

Bookridden · 12/08/2020 19:11

I'm just outside of Bristol. It's 32 degrees and sweltering. I am very jealous of those of you getting the storms.

Swelteringmeltering · 12/08/2020 19:24

Sadly no big kick off here!!
Pathetic drops of rain for a minuet... That's it

NettleTea · 12/08/2020 20:21

still waiting. It did some rumbling at the coast, but Im 6 miles inland and still only around 5 seconds of rain 2 days ago

My heads kind of funny today so Im hoping its a sign. Local met office report says 50% chance of it all crashing down around 11pm. just the time I have to drive to collect my daughter from the station

menofharlech · 12/08/2020 20:31

Bookridden- me too.

We had a few rumbles and a light shower around 7 and that was it. Poor

TroysMammy · 12/08/2020 20:35

BBC weather keeps on changing it's mind when it's going to rain in Swansea. I need rain because I can't be arsed to stand outside watering my veg.

LesLavandes · 12/08/2020 20:36

Awaiting the storm arriving soon across from France to Brighton. I hear it's gonna be a big one.

FecktheBoss · 12/08/2020 20:48

NW here, very weird glow outside. No thunder yet.
