How much fruit and veg have you had today?

An 80g serving of fresh fruit or veg and a 30g serving of dried fruit counts as one of your 5 a day.

Spinach (half portion)
Tomato and Bean soup (1 portion)
1 quarter cantaloupe melon (1 portion)
Carrots (half portion)
Hummus (quarter portion)
Celery (quarter portion)
Cauliflower (one portion)
Brussels sprouts (one portion)

That's 5 and a half portions and I don’t think I can fit any more in. I’m trying to get to 7 portions per day.

Much better than me...

7 cherry tomatoes
About 10 rasperberries with my cereal this morning
Then hopefully 2 More veg with my tea later!

RachelLyg · 28/07/2020 17:54

It’s hard.

I thought I was doing well because I eat quite a wide variety of fruit and veg each day. But then I read that bit about each serving having to be about 80g if fresh or 30g of dried and realised I wasn’t doing as well as I thought I was Hmm.

A nectarine
A portion of strawberries
A portion of cherry tomatoes
Some olives (do they count)
Broccoli with tea.

OverTheRainbow88 · 28/07/2020 17:57

Ooh I had olives!! Didn’t know they count! Woop woop #winning

Alienin · 28/07/2020 17:57

None, but I’m planning on having a homemade salad sandwich and some oranges later. My body has kept going for nearly 40 years without fitting those rules, so I think I’m all right.

Alienin · 28/07/2020 17:58

What kind of olives? I can never decide if I prefer black or green.

Witchofzog · 28/07/2020 18:00

Spinach
Mushrooms
Quarter of a pepper (all these in an omelette)
Red Grapes
2 plums

Later I am having quiche for tea so I will have a big salad with watercress, rocket, cucumber, piccolo tomatoes, red onion and avocado.
I also have a nectarine for after.

Not sure how much all that would be though?

questionssquestions · 28/07/2020 18:01

1.5 carrots with hummus (1 or 2 portions, the chickpeas in hummus count for a bit)
2 tangerines (1 portion)
Veggie chilli for dinner (2-3 portions)
Maybe an actual banana cut up with my banana bread later (1 portion)

So 4-7 portions I think.

mizu · 28/07/2020 18:01

I can't eat much veg as it gives me a tummy ache. Today I've eaten :

A bowl of melon
An apple

And will have some salad with my spag Bol in a bit.

AnnaMariaDreams · 28/07/2020 18:02

Black.
I made pesto pasta salad with cherry tomatoes, olives and pine nuts for lunch.
It was delicious. The pesto was jarred so the basil won’t count though.

TheFairyCaravan · 28/07/2020 18:03

Pomegranate seeds and a banana on my yoghurt for breakfast
Cereal bowl of cherries and a satsuma at lunchtime
We've just had a stir fry for tea that had a courgette, a carrot, a pepper, 6 mushrooms, a few baby sweet corn, and spring onions between me and DH.

I've also had 3 fig roll biscuits. Do they count?

EnglishGirlApproximately · 28/07/2020 18:04

So far just some raspberries and blueberries at breakfast, but for tea I'll be having a salad which will probably be a total of 2 portions, then an orange after. I might have some dried apricots.
I'm assuming the raspberries in the bakewell tart i had don't count Grin

CherryPavlova · 28/07/2020 18:05

A bowl of salad for lunch - lettuce, red cabbage, tomatoes. cucumber, scallions, pepper, radish and avocado.
An apricot.

This evening's supper will be an Asian salad with a crab and then strawberries for pudding.

JengaCupboard · 28/07/2020 18:06

None! Currently on an extended stay with family in Spain (if I have to quarantine I might as well just stay!!) it’s mostly been olives, crisps and sangria... although there is technically fruit in that... 😎

TheDogsMother · 28/07/2020 18:07

Maybe 10 ?
Banana
4 satsumas
2 apples
2 sticks of celery
1 little gem lettuce
Radishes
Cherry toms
Cucumber
Will have another salad with a portion of vegetable and feta frittata this evening.

Mydogisthebestest · 28/07/2020 18:07

Salad at lunchtime orange juice at breakfast an apple and a nectarine and dinner will be another salad.

Newpuppymummy · 28/07/2020 18:08

Beans (on toast) for lunch
Melon and pineapple chopped up after lunch
Carrots with dinner

cliffdiver · 28/07/2020 18:09

Strawberries in overnight oats.

An apple at lunch.

Lettuce and sweet potato with dinner.

Very poor for me.

Morgana7 · 28/07/2020 18:15

Fresh squeezed orange juice
Blueberries
Broccoli
Celery
Banana
That’s it for today. Some days I have a lot more if I have something like fruit salad for breakfast, salad for lunch and a veggie curry for tea.

Wallywobbles · 28/07/2020 18:17

So far cabbage, mushrooms, courgette for lunch.

Supper courgette, peas, beetroot and tomatoes. Do they count for more if they're from the garden?

PaperMonster · 28/07/2020 18:19

I don’t eat fruit. I’ve had a portion of sprouts and a portion of mushrooms today.

AllTheUserNamesAreTaken · 28/07/2020 18:21

Tangerine this morning (only one so half portion?)
Cauliflower

Carrots (half portion)
Green beans (half portion)

Will be having
Tomato, onions, peppers in a sauce (1.5-2 portions) with meatballs
Green beans (1 portion)
Strawberries or blueberries (1 portion)

rosy71 · 28/07/2020 18:21

Some blueberries with yoghurt & granola for breakfast and half a tin if mandarins at lunchtime. I'm planning on pizza & salad for tea so will gave rocket, cucumber, tomatoes and peppers then.

Parkandride · 28/07/2020 18:22

Glass pomegrante juice (1)
Some tomatoes and cucumber with lunch, plus some bits in a quiche (1)
