How much fruit and veg have you had today?

An 80g serving of fresh fruit or veg and a 30g serving of dried fruit counts as one of your 5 a day.

Spinach (half portion)
Tomato and Bean soup (1 portion)
1 quarter cantaloupe melon (1 portion)
Carrots (half portion)
Hummus (quarter portion)
Celery (quarter portion)
Cauliflower (one portion)
Brussels sprouts (one portion)

That's 5 and a half portions and I don’t think I can fit any more in. I’m trying to get to 7 portions per day.

Mango
Strawberries
Rocket
Carrot
Tomatoes
Seaweed salad

Does avocado count?

BobFleming · 30/07/2020 21:19

I have had 2 slivers of sun-dried tomato, half a cop of rocket and about 4 small broccoli florets. Bit rubbish.

PopcornPeacock · 30/07/2020 21:20

Cucumber and cherry toms at lunch.

Bowl of roasted veg - cauliflower, parsnips, beetroot, carrots and potatoes for dinner.

Peas
Beans
Fresh tomatoes
Blackberries
Apple

Allmyfavouritepeople · 30/07/2020 21:22

Half a portion of raisins with my bran flakes
Probably another half portion of sweetcorn with my sandwich

Was planning on having stir fry which would have added 2 portions (mange tout and green pepper) but I had a big mac instead so half a portion for the extra gherkins?!

Starlight39 · 30/07/2020 21:25

I’ve had
1 banana
A tin of pineapple (think this might count?)
1 carrot
1 punnet raspberries
1 apple
Mixed green veg with dinner (prob 1 portion worth).

Some days I have more veg, today was a bit fruit heavy and I had no fruit or veg at lunch so could have got more in then.

OP, could you have upped the spinach, carrots and celery to 1 portion each? I also find a huge salad a good way to get a few portions in.

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 30/07/2020 21:47

Today was a bit better..
Lunch was a toasted bagel thin with houmous and cherry tomatoes.
Dinner was sweet chilli and veggie noodles which had red onion, yellow pepper, mange tout, and baby corn.
Then a bowl of melon.

CarlottaValdez · 30/07/2020 21:49

Tomato in sandwich at lunch
Dinner had aubergine, onions, pepper, olive, onion, tomato

No fruit except a couple of strawberries while I was cutting up fruit for DS.

Whatthebloodyell · 30/07/2020 21:54

I did better today!
Lettuce, cucumber and hummus at lunch.
Apple and tomatoes for a snack.
Loads of Kale, courgette, green beans, onion for dinner.

tiredanddangerous · 30/07/2020 22:19

2 satsumas, a banana, some strawberries, broccoli and carrots. That's quite good for me...I'm a bit rubbish at the 5 a day thing usually.

lljkk · 30/07/2020 22:28

mango, watermelon, baked beans, steamed mixed veg (5 sorts), orange juice, wine, pineapple juice, dried apricots

I don't know the counting rules but I reckon that's > 5

emilybrontescorsett · 30/07/2020 22:31

Grapes
Strawberries, but not many
Carrots, onion and parsley mixed together in a sauce.

coronafiona · 30/07/2020 22:33

Salad for lunch: tomatoes, celery, cucumber, olives so at least 2 portions
1 whole pink grapefruit
Onions/ mushrooms/ peppers in my spag Bol so I think I've achieved 5 but no more. It's hard to get it all in some days

Doublechins · 30/07/2020 22:55

No fruit. 6 portions of veg (swede, broccoli, cauliflower, peas, cabbage and carrot) all at dinner time.

Jolonglegs · 30/07/2020 22:55

Apple
Rhubarb (does that count?)
Aubergene
Salad leaves
Tomatoes
Last nights curry containing courgette and sweet corn
Mushrooms
BTW we're being overwhelmed with courgettes from the garden. Any ideas on how to use them?

Passthecake30 · 30/07/2020 22:58

Sultanas, tomatoes, satsuma, apple, salad, roasted veg, corn on the cob, strawberries

Impatientwino · 30/07/2020 23:00

Mildly better than yesterday! I reckon about 6.
Does a wedge of lime in a corona beer tonight count? If so then 7 Grin

BalancingStick · 30/07/2020 23:02

Probably averaging same as yesterday:

  • a nectarine
  • handful of cherries
  • some rocket
  • half an avocado
  • green beans
  • mange tout
  • sugar snap peas
  • kale
  • mushrooms
  • garlic
Brightyellow · 30/07/2020 23:03

Melon
Raspberries
Carrots
Sweet corn
Peas
Watercress

Not bad for me but only small portions of each.

merryhouse · 30/07/2020 23:05

portion of raisins (on porridge)

portion of tomato
portion of cucumber
half portion of lettuce
half portion of celery

an orange

portion of carrots
portion of peas
small amount of leek and mushroom (in a pie)

orange juice

a banana

That's nine and a bit, though two of them are really the same thing.

MitziK · 30/07/2020 23:11

On reflection, I wouldn't recommend having lentils two or three days running with all the other veggies.

The resulting stomach cramps are rather unpleasant and have resulted in my using breathing techniques I last did at antenatal classes twenty years ago.

takes lentils off the list

istandwithJKR · 30/07/2020 23:24

Quite a lot today.

Greek salad for lunch
Cherries
Green veg stir fry
Apple

I reckon 6-7 portions

top2patooties · 30/07/2020 23:27

Blueberries and prunes in my porridge for breakfast
Beef tomato with avocado for lunch
Watermelon snack
2 carrots with hummus

It's getting Green’s in I find difficult
